  1. If you want to live in a democratic society that has freedom of speech you have to put up with views that you find disagreeable.
  2. The correct answer would have been to put your hand up & admit you couldn't help yourself.
  3. Can't help it can you Colin - every comment has to include a lecture showing us how morally superior & clever you are. You are simply stating the obvious - that cultural norms change over time. What was acceptable in the 30's, 50's or 80's is not acceptable now. And if you watched Kamahl's interview about this matter he stated that Australia was a lot less racist than India or Malaysia where he & his family came from. PS - And stop being so blatantly dishonest- nobody has said that racial abuse was started by on line trolls.
  4. Most sensible post on this issue. As long as there is anonymity there will be lowlifes doing this. Its how they get their kicks. All the outrage and condemnation in the world will not stop it.
  5. I was wondering whether posters would try to score points or focus on the main issue.
  6. The way to stop this is for social media platforms make people identify themselves when they join up. As long as people can post stuff anonymously it encourages scumbags to troll & post abusive material.
  7. It actually proves that humans can do stupid things.
  8. Yes 50 words of nonsense is much better than 500 words of nonsense.
  9. With that attitude its a good job you are not sitting as a judge in the NT juvenile courts. The rate of incarceration with your attitude would be close to 100% with a large number of Indigenous people included.
  10. Of course all the enslaving and colonising and rape and pillage was done by Europeans except for the Incas, Aztecs, Plains Indians, Japanese, Mongols, Maoris, Persians, Egyptians, Zulus, Chinese Babylonians, Arabs, Turks & a few others. You are a historical nincompoop- go back to school.
  11. Its ironic that an Indigenous player racially abuses an Irish player. Its also interesting that this episode has been pretty much deleted from the record. Double standard maybe.
  12. Quiet right. I think you should set up an Inquisition and investigate anyone who is not actively anti racist and take them to task. Maybe you shouldn't get a job or a passport unless you have demonstrated your anti racist history.
  13. Interesting take. So as long as you abuse but do not mention the person's race or colour then its not racial abuse ?
  14. Try & keep it to 50 words. Its pretty incoherent and are you maybe trying to impress people by quoting a lot of biographies ? And why are you only concerned with anti black racism ? Isn't all racism a problem ?
  15. It was Gavin Wanganeen - Round 9 1997 v Port Adelaide See Bottom line. As I recall it he called Jim "a dumb Irish cu**. The umpire heard it & asked Jim if he wanted to take the matter further & Jim declined. Glad to see Gavin repented & went on to be a good citizen but this seems to rarely come up these days whereas the Monkhorst & other incidents are well remembered. From Demon Wiki. Melbourne's first match against the Power was the last for coach Neale Balme. The former coach of the year had seen his season destroyed by injuries and a night where his side managed just three goals was the final straw for Joseph Gutnick who, despite public support for Balme from Chief Executive Cameron Schwab, sacked him during the week. Without any other options Balme was forced to set his forward line up around Jeff Farmer and Sean Charles, but without marking targets Melbourne were unable to score a goal in the first half. It didn't help when they lost Charles to injury in the first quarter, but having not kicked a goal since the seven minute mark of the third term the week before, they failed to boot one until eight minutes into the third quarter when Leigh Newton converted a set shot. Best were Clarkson, Donald Cockatoo-Collins and Stynes. Donald Cockatoo-Collins was suspended for two matches for headbutting. Damien Gaspar was reported for charging but cleared. During the match Gavin Wanganeen was accused of racially abusing Jim Stynes, but Stynes chose not to press charges with the AFL.
  16. Well there is quiet a difference between those calling for an appropriate penalty for his comments and the lynch mob calling for blood and wanting to destroy Walker. There are plenty of the latter on Demonland.
  17. There will always be a minority that does the wrong thing. Just because we outlaw domestic violence & tell everyone to stop doing it doesn't mean it will go away completely.
  18. Bringing in fresh faces is the obvious thing to do but Goody is extremely stubborn & I reckon he will pretty much stick fat with the current 22.
  19. Checker Hughes & Norm Smith - that is one of the all time great photos of our game.
  20. I really like Lockhart but on Saturday his disposal was terrible. Missed his targets regularly and on top of that I counted 3 OOTF. He will not make it unless he drastically improves his kicking.
  21. Totally agree - must have been written by his mum or manager. I have watched Toby closely for a while & agree he has a lot of talent he lacks consistency & goes missing for long periods. Regularly getting 12 or 13 touches at VFL level is not going to get him promoted & to suggest he replace Viney is delusional.
  22. So you take Reiwoldt & Lynch out of the Tigers flag sides or Kennedy & Darling from WC & it makes no difference ?
  23. I have thought for a while that our "small" forwards are our achilles heel. We have options re our big key forwards but with the exception of Picket (sometimes) & Fritsch the cupboard is bare. Compare our other 4 fwds this year with the 4 fwds from our 88 & 2000 Grand Final sides. 2021 - Fritsch, Picket, Jordon, Neal Bullen 1988 - Lyon, Flintoff, Williams, R Jackson 2000 - Robertson, Green, Powell, Farmer
