Petty is playing without confidence & has been no better than Tomlinson this year.

You must be kidding. Petty mostly fell over & fumbled. He seems totally bereft of confidence & form & has barely contributed this year.

Doubt he is going anywhere next year but he would want to improve his form drastically in 2025. Clayton is getting $1m a year + and delivering a $500,000 a year performance on the field so far.

Anyone among the acolytes disagree that he's has the best defence, best midfield & best ruck going round between 2018 & 2023.

Loved Big Max. I recall one game at Moorabin when Max rucked against Carl Ditterich. We had injuries that day & Graham Osborne had to play back up ruckman when Max had a break.

I think between 2019 & 2023 we had the best list. Certainly the best defence, ruck & midfield in the competition.

You seem to be ignoring the issue of the talent the coach has. I'd argue that over the last 4-6 years the consensus among media and supporters is that Melbourne has the best list in the comp. The best defence, the best ruckman, the best midfield and some reasonable forwards. Richmond with a less talented list delivered 3 flags. We were disappointing in 2017, poor in 2019 & 2020 & stuffed it up in 2022.

No problems. I often fantasise about what John Northey or Neale Daniher would have delivered with the list Goodie has. I'm sure ND would have liked May & Lever instead of Mathew Collins & Alistair Nicholson.

We won despite the idiotic decision to ruck Petty. Petty did mostly SFA apart from falling over a lot & we had to move JVR onto the ball to get some drive. This left the fwd line short & allowed McKay to dominate. We got away with it due to the wet conditions.

For 4-5 years it's been fairly unanimous in the media & opposition supporters that we have had the competition's best defence, the top ruckman, in Brayshaw, Clarry, Trac & Viney the best midfield going round & some quality forwards. With all this Goodie has delivered 1 flag which is a massive underachievement.

What's more tiresome is wasting 2017, 2019, 2020 & 2022 & wasting an outstanding list & continually trying strategies that have regularly failed.

4 field umpires and yet the illegal holding, scragging & blocking is getting worse. Trac, Pickett, Max & Clarry are interfered with at most contests.

Until about 8 weeks ago I thought he was another Lucas Cook & would never make it. Since then I have been pleasantly surprised by his improvement. If he keeps that form up he should be a big chance to debut.

It usually doesn't work. Goodie has made a career of bringing players straight back in after injury or too early & it usually fails. Salem - fail Bowey - fail Petty- fail McAdam - fail Not a pretty record.

Ridiculous comment. Most supporters I know rate him as an outstanding talent. The problem is his health and injuries have meant he has struggled in the last 3 seasons.

I actually clearly pointed out that illness (thyroid problems) have had an impact.

Christian has always been one of my favourites. Tough, creative & with a bit of dash & laser like disposal. He should have been AA IN 2021. I thought he would be a regular AA & pick up a B&F. Since 21 he's been ill, picked up injury & generally lost some form. Not sure if he can be an elite player again.

Who cares how far he ran !! I thought he was disappointing & he has been inconsistent this year. Ineffective disposals and really poor kicking for goal. Needs to lift his game.

I think Goodie will go down as a very average coach who underachieved badly. He is inflexible, stubborn & tactically slow on match days. He has cost us 3 games that I can recall by not adjusting the selected side when torrential rain was forecast. He persists with"pet" players who are out of form & lacks any lateral thinking and persists with a forward coach & structure that have been mostly dysfunctional for 3 years. Longmire immediately turned JJ into this season's best tagger while Goodie just wasted him. We are now marking time until he leaves.
