I think a bit of poetic licence is allowed. Bizzell wasn't the best either but for a couple of seasons he was brilliant. Ditto Ray Biffin & if we'd had Biffin, Ditterich & Carman in the 2000 GF side Dean Wallis wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes.

Agree totally. JJ has been well looked after. He probably should have played more games at Casey in 2022 but kept getting picked ahead of Chandler, Bedford, Baker & Dunstan. His weakness was his hesitancy with the ball in hand where he invariably went back & took the safe option rather than taking the game on.

Jeff White was a Victorian.

I thought Petty was ordinary up fwd. No better than Tom McD. Brown did very little as well.

Laurie looked mostly clueless today just like he did in the practice game. Not currently up to it by a long long way.

Absolute gobbledygook. Not sure where u dreamed this up from. I watched every Casey game in 2022 & Oskar's disposal was fine. Maybe you have some objective facts about disposal efficiency.

Should have been tried as a small defender to replace Nev Jetta - had pace, aggression & overlap running.

Thats pretty unfair. While his disposal wasn't elite it clearly improved & was as good as several on the senior list. Also the Grand Final was played in shocking wet conditions & almost every player miss kicked the ball that day.

I'll be interested to see how the 3 go for the game & season. I watched Casey last year & thought Baker the better player by a mile. I thought the fact that he only got 1 senior game in 2 years showed poor judgement by our coaches. Good luck to all 3.

Well it was all couched in vague language - think the Club said he had fatigue but there was a fair bit of negative speculation at the time. Don't think he is on the Lions xmas card list.

And in his final season at Brisbane he did not play finals with his local QFL club which did not impress his team mates

I saw a fair bit of him at Casey last year & thought he was pretty ordinary. His form last week was a revelation and I hope that he continues to prove me wrong.

I thought it simply showed that Orio doesn’t understand sarcasm. And clearly is a very poor judge of footballers. I watched most Casey games & JVR is an outstanding talent. His season was almost as good as Fritters before he was recruited. He well deserved his selections as an emergency last year.

Whoever wrote the article is an [censored]. Should have read "did not have any impact at Casey in his first year".

I'm not quiet sure what that means but he has been mentored and systemised at Port. Just having a famous surname doesn't always cut it.

Shame about Burgoyne then as we could really use a small quick pressure fwd who can kick goals to help out Kossie. A Ricky Jackson or Jeff Garlett in their heyday would round the team off beautifully.

He should be investing in developing skills that he can use post football.
