  1. Its time for the Brighton Grammar boys to go, Jack Watts and Chris Dawes.
  2. Another Saturday morning and I am optomistic as always. I am looking forward to that crucial moment, and we all know the scenario. Melbourne gets away to a good competitive start and them slowly but surely the opposition puts us to the test. I will be watching more closely than ever who rises to the challenge and who has been beaten to submission one too many times. Go Dees.
  3. Yes fair comments, I was just interested to discuss as its particularly frustrating to have a committed key position player on the list who can and should do better regardless of his limitations. I was very upset with his attitude last week and his lack of initiative to change the momentum or halt the momentum of the game. Agree the axe should have been swung but we luve in hope for a turnaround this week. As quote name="Al's Demons" post="1074990" timestamp="1429231287"]Try again.....ok, the modern game requires players to be verstile. Fwd's that can go into the ruck, mids can go fwd or to a back flank, kpd need to be able to play on tall/medium fwd's. Dawes is ineffective in the ruck. As a fwd he's not taking marks or kicking goals. As a defender I've no doubt he could stand and wrestle with Cloke but how would he go against Buddy, Jack or Nick Riowoldt, Pav, Roughy, Petrie? As for crashing packs as a defender I have visions of him being late to the contest, unable to punch the ball away resulting in giving away free kicks. His role is a fwd, he can play as we all know, but he is out of form big time. If he has a shocker this week he should be dropped and we swing Howe fwd. As we strive to become better no one should be exempt from being dropped.
  4. Yes I think he is quick in a straight line for a big guy. He grew up as a ruckman.
  5. Try again. He has many of the attributes of a defender. His style is straight ahead, crash the pack. He is well skilled in holding and wrestling. Provided there is a good match up it might be worth a try as it would esentially be like adding a new player judging by many of the comments here re his ability as a forward.
  6. I have previously posted with the same suggested. He has many if the attritubes, straight ahead, crash the pack style. Holding, wrestling of play provided there is a match up.
  7. I dont expect everyone to agree but Dawes has some straight at the ball, crashing the pack attributes of a back man. Would have liked to have seen him made to match up on the rampaging McCarthy last week for a spell. Once all was lost could have been worth a look and used as a disciplinary move as well. He is not a CHF.
  8. And dont we need more assistants to the regional managet at the middle tier paper merchant, good get
  9. No one said it was a bad idea to draft tyson and Salem MC, just interested in opinions, although I am not particularly interested in yours. Strangely in business or any other organisation worth two bob its not called hindsight hero its called reviewing the business and seeking continuos improvement so you dont continue to make the wrong calls over and over again. I will just wait, And track the four biys progress, I have time on my side, I have waited 51 years since our last flag.
  10. Hindsight hero, nothing to do with it, if you cant read its not my fault. I asked for other peoples opinions. So now I will assess yours. The question should have been why the hell were we not looking at Bontepelli. Surely that part of the recruiters due dilligence. As for 2nd best in the BF at the Demons and good form in preseason, says more about you than then. Beyond that thanks for your kind acceptance to the group.
  11. I would like to see Toumpas given a big assignment in front of his home crowd. Challenge him to absolutely bust his gut for the club and play with flair. Maybe some reverse phycology like. Jimmy the club needs you and your skill, lets show them what you got mate. Imagine the boost to his confidence if he could get a few clearances around the ground
  12. I would be interested to hear from anyone at the game just how much bigger Mummford looked than Jamar. It was clear from mid second quater he was Public enemy number one. Just like the Aussie cricket team its about time we had a strategy of cutting off the head of the oppositions gun. We did it against Gold Coast with Ablett and it needed to be done with Mummford.
  13. Long time since I have commented here but like to put in a few gut feelings from the game. I remember looking at Garland when GWS goaled to make the diffence only a matter of points. You could just read that he was thinking, I think we all know that moment in sport when you say to yourself. Can I be stuffed now that the game is going away from us. The other was looking at Roos and saying to myself. Well Roosy your going to have to make some moves here that are not conventional. Beyond that I would review all games where we have capitulated and find the common link of those that havent performed without fear of favour. Would also love to hear some opinion on our trading of picks for Tyson and Salem as opposed to Bontempelli and say a Merrett as a pick in the twenties.
  14. Yeah forgot Jonesy, who I agree is our best and most committed player. Clark CHB. Working on the Sheedy style of coaching. Hes a class act and would be a star back there. Im really basing it on the hope that Hogan is everything we hope, Watts rises to the occasion and Dawes does his hard working thing.
  15. All welcome to pick holes in the positional line up this 2014 team but you I dont think you can deny they all have talent. Jetta. Mc Donald. Frawley Strauss. Clark. Trengrove Toumpass. Viney. Howe Watts. Hogan. Tapscott Silvia. Dawes. Blease Gawn Grimes Evans
  16. If it was at the entrance Id say they were fighting over who should walk out the front door first.
  17. Think your wrong on Dawes. He will staighten us up and provide a target. Just tell every litte guy we have to run at full pass to his feet for a crumb and dish off.
  18. Chippy. Thats my judgement mate. Back mine against yours.
  19. Frawley to Full Forward. Why? Can run hard and straight, accurate kick and knows how to hold a player off. I appears likely we will lose him if the status quo continues.
  20. Dr Gonzo.... Wonder if your the bloke I called a nark at the game.
  21. Dr Gonzo. I remember my under 15 coach saying a similiar thing agsinst the best team I ever played against. After telling us they are only flesh and blood with two arms and two legs we lost by 30 goals......
  22. I walked to the ground in a happy mood. The adrenelin had cut in an I was confident ofma good show. By the time I left I concluded that the problem is much broader. I feel there at least four Melbourne clubs that will never win an AFL flag in my lifetime. Today we played agsinst a powerhouse of an AFL club. They destroy us in so many area of criticism and debate on here. Recruiting, player development, conditioning, fitness, coaching. Thats before you ever look at home advantages and the attraction for young guys to live in Perth. Meanwhile we debate bringing in Magner and Coach. Merge is a dirty word but so is Pederson, Byrnes, Gillies, Rodan,Sellar and the new lot of uncaring mercinary hacks we will recruit at the end of this season.
  23. I think they follow Jade Rawlings lead. He had his back to the defenders and a relaxed posing look about him during the warm ups. That said I also think that as supporters we thought we had some backline positions and players locked in for the future. Today exposed our best defenders.
  24. Yeah I get your point. A bit like winning the last federal election. That said I hope it hurts that they were dropped from one of the worst performing teams in the history of the game.
