  1. I directed the show open and package for Vh1’s Hip Hop Honours while I was based in New York. I used to be so cool. I think my coolness left sometime around 2012 (and took most of my hair with it).
  2. Horrible brag time. I once worked on a project with Rakim, Ice T, Ice Cube, Wu Tang, and The Beastie Boys. Beasties were super shy. Ice T was really funny and easy to work with. Rakim was really chill, and Wu Tang was like a family reunion - as it was only 18 months after ODB died. I also worked with Russell Simmons on the same project and to this day he’s the worst human I’ve ever met.
  3. Same! I had tickets to Sigur Ros that night and didn’t go because of the footy. They weren’t cheap either. ‘Staralfur’ in The Life Aquatic is my favourite use of a song in a film.
  4. I don’t want to hijack the metalfest that is this thread, but I feel like I need to point out that The Beatles only appear ‘tepid, middling and uninteresting’ because everything they did has been regurgitated by those with less talent for 60 years. In the context of what popular music was when they started as a band, and what they helped turn it into, I think it’s hard to fathom their creative growth. Also Paul Weller is a boss. Moving from The Jam to The Style Council was amazingly brave at the time. He’s a pure artist.
  5. There’s a really good song exploder episode on Netflix where Reznor talks about writing the song and all it represents.
  6. I’m lost for words. Surely you can’t deny how important they are?
  7. I mean, dare I say it, but… is Goodwin basic?
  8. That JSBX performance is legendary. I was never that into Taylor Swift but I’m a massive National fan so I really liked Folklore, and she won me over. Artic Monkeys are a fascinating band now I reckon. So much diverse influence in what they are doing. It’s quite admirable how creative it’s all got. I’d be excited to see Tame Impala. I read Kevin had to make a public statement warning people about the shows, as the lighting is so intense some people had seizures. That’s always a good sign. I think they’ll be amazing.
  9. I’m an Optus and Medibank customer. Any email he tries to send me will end up in Russia’s with whoever’s assumed my identity. It makes me laugh to think that somewhere a hacker is shuffling through my digital footprint and wondering who the hell ‘Brett Lovett’ is, and why he’s the password to all my streaming services.
  10. A ring was made for Simon, but Basil Zempilas forgot to give it to him.
  11. Sorry, I should have said ‘biased’, not ‘bias’. I understand your frustration. It’s like reading ‘I think it’s really f*#k annoying when people go on about spelling’. When clearly it’s meant to read ‘I think it’s really f*cking annoying…’ Sincerest apologies. 🤣
  12. I think Cripps is very similar to Hawkins at Geelong - in that he plays for a side whose supporters make him seem much more unlikeable than he is. I think Oliver is a better player, but I’m bias because I’ve seen Clayton do things for us that I’ve never seen another Melbourne player do.
  13. The problem with mine is that there’s also @Heart Beats True who posts quite a bit, and often makes well considered points. It’s really annoying. I’m trying to build a reputation as the town [censored], and it’s killing my brand recognition.
  14. I always assumed @WERRIDEE was a clever link between the wastewater treatment plant, and the 50 odd years we spent as a club being a literal 💩 farm.
  15. Well, that’s a little simplistic. Lyon’s coached 170 more games than Goodwin, and for 10 years longer. And… if you want to talk simplification - the bounce to win the game never happened. Regardless my point was I can’t stand his game style. I think our style of football is far more engaging to watch than anything Freo put out in his time there. I find his belligerent, joyless coach thing tiring too.
  16. If it’s Ross Lyon watch them try and keep teams to less than 40 points every week by flooding back and moving the ball slowly. Ugh. And then watch him get annoyed in the post match interview because a journalist dares to question their game plan and how dull it is.
  17. Do they not remember how he left them?He completely torched that club, and it’s list. Listening to him talk over the last couple of years I’ve come to the conclusion that what he had worked once, but won’t cut it in the contemporary AFL. Players need more engagement. He strikes me as being very autocratic.
  18. The corporate governance of most AFL clubs is an absolute joke. They bang on about culture and respect and then blindside the most important part of their culture, and get rid of players without warning (ask OMeara or Grundy how they feel). It’s rubbish.
  19. To be fair on a bad day on the Monash it’s a 14 hour drive from Casey to Geelong.
  20. All reserved seat memberships already have a wait list. :(
  21. Does Tim Lamb say they don’t discuss contract lengths in this interview? Wonder why?
  22. I'm so confused. I read the trade and draft boards every day and I was sure we were getting screwed, we never stand up for ourselves, and Tim Lamb was on shaky ground? It's almost like you can't evaluate the trade period until it's over.
  23. Does the AFL not believe in daylight savings? A lot of action after 7:30.
  24. That it’s only right 50% of the time?
