  1. Brisbane about to get a flag and 6 weeks later the best player in the draft. 🤔
  2. Big scars for the Swans here. They won’t believe after this.
  3. Anyone know why Bruce is backing commentating? I thought he retired 5 years back.
  4. If you read the comments on the day this was posted (3 weeks ago), and the subsequent comments I made, my comment had less to do with the particular comment I was referring too, and more to do with the tone of the thread during this time (which I noted in my original comment). I talked about it with the poster who made the comment, apologised if I misinterpreted what they were saying, the poster was very gracious, and we all moved on very quickly. I do stand by my comment about not liking the tone of this thread during that period. There was a fair bit of unnecessary name calling going on, and I didn’t like it. Everyone here contributes a lot, but I had hoped that it could have been done with more empathy and less name calling (as I noted in subsequent comments). Regardless, I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make, 18 days later, but I agree with you. Not liking women’s football doesn’t make anyone misogynistic.
  5. I’m in exactly the same situation. The club has been hopeless at forcing the MCG staff to protect the value of our seats, and so we’ve told them we need an upgrade (which we are happy to pay for) or we aren’t paying for reserved seats again. This year I went to all our home games except one, and 8 times I had to move people out of our seats. It was ridiculous. The Collingwood home game was like sitting in the Collingwood members, and the MCG staff did nothing.
  6. In fairness to Cripps he’s the best thrower of the ball I’ve ever seen.
  7. I feel like the All Australian should surpass the Brownlow as the AFL event. It’s a celebration of all types of players, and it’s more inclusive.
  8. This will be good for Wade’s brand. Too soon?
  9. Scott in the post match presser, according to The Age…. ’Two off-field staff contracted COVID, Scott revealed. Masks were worn in the Cats’ rooms. Word of flu had filtered through to the Brisbane camp. Holmes had a bout of gastro. Could his illness have led to fatigue, leaving him more vulnerable to a soft-tissue injury?’ This Is eerily similar to the prelim in ‘21. I’ll never respect him for doing this. They always have some excuse, that ignores that all clubs are dealing with things that aren’t going their way. It’s pathetic.
  10. That was a cracking game. So, so good.
  11. Bailey should have kicked his goals. Geelong took every opportunity and Brisbane didn’t.
  12. Does Cam Raynors contract exclude him from September?
  13. Geelong can’t miss. What a joke
  14. Every time I see him I laugh about the story that he told security at the MCG to tell our cheer squad to stop calling him ‘haircut’. It’s too funny!
  15. I was just thinking that Brisbanes advantage is in the ruck.
  16. Nathan Williamson is umpiring. Somehow Melbourne will manage to get crucified today.
  17. Brisbane are going to finish top 4 and get the number one talent, and another first round player in Marshall via the Academy, 2 years after getting a pick 2 and finishing 4th. The system needs a major overhaul, because the last 5 years have seen an unbelievable amount of Father/Son talent going to top teams for almost nothing, and then the academy system being an absolute lottery - unless you’re a Northern state club.
  18. That’s an excellent point. Geelong has been very, very well run for the last 20 years.
  19. Grundy got beaten in a Preliminary Final by a bloke earning 30% his salary. Meanwhile the bloke we trusted to be our number one ruckman picked up his seventh All Australian jacket. I don’t get the hand wringing.
  20. Modern success is becoming increasingly about maximising what you have as your systemic advantage. For Geelong that’s country access for players, and home ground advantage. For Sydney it’s academy access, and home ground advantage. Both Longmire and Scott are excellent coaches, but they are also given 5-10% advantages that undoubtedly help them. I struggle to think of what similar advantages most Victorian sides have - with the exception of Carlton and Collingwood and their ability to take advantage of big crowds, and the momentum they provide. In a way it’s proof that equalisation is working, but it’s also highlighting where advantages exist.
  21. Swans fans booing Hinkley is odd. Are they trying to protect the good name of Jack Ginnivan? LOL.
  22. Sydney make me so nervous at the G on Grand Final day. They are every chance to absolutely stink it up again and hand Geelong a Premiership.
  23. I hate that free kick. He looked up, saw the arm of Wines and dove into it with his body limp to make sure it was a free kick.
  24. They all need to stay in good condition. Yesterday I was at my gym working out next to an incredibly tall kid that looked like a young Sam Darcy. Then I realised it was Sam, and that I’m old.
