Dan Houston
Doesnât like the things he heard about Melbourne, but walks to Collingwood with De Goey, their President stepping down, the CEO accused of continuing racism (especially damning given their recent history), Bolton running out the door as quick as he could, and Leppitsch acting like a complete maniac. Also told Port fans 6 weeks ago he was staying put. I get that weâve handled ourselves extremely poorly over the last 12 months, but Dan canât take any higher ground here. Iâm glad we didnât trade pick 5 and a future first for him. Heâs a great player, but we could help solve much bigger issues with 2 highly competitive mids in this draft.

2024 List and Contract Details
I donât think the AFL media thinks we are irrelevant.

Farewell Adam Tomlinson
Is there? Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested in what the going rate is these days for someone coming out of the AFL system? đ

2024 Phantom Drafts
I sort of assumed that last year, but then heard the story of JT travelling to meet Kolt and his family. Regardless itâs a mountain of work for them to do.

2024 Phantom Drafts
Richmondâs recruitment team are basically going to have to meet 25 players before the draft. Itâll be an absolute mountain of work to run every possible scenario, which theyâll need to do as they have so many picks at the really pointy end. I actually feel sorry for their recruitment staff after losing one of their own this week, and then coming into a once in a lifetime tsunami of work.

NON-MFC: Trade Talk
I reckon Richmond will be next level awful in â25. Theyâll be uncompetitive in 70% of their games.

I second those saying that things have got particularly unpleasant on here the last few months. There are a couple of posters with a pathological desire to always be ârightâ. It shows such a complete disregard for almost everyone else who uses this site when they chase each other across threads arguing the same points, or take an opposing view because someone had the audacity to challenge their opinion at one point. And if those users think we donât see the baiting that goes on most of us do, and itâs boring and immature. I read a fascinating statistic about social media (of which Demonland is part of) this week. 90% of content is posted by less than 20% of users. Which means somewhere in the vicinity of 70% of opinion goes unheard, and most likely fills the middle ground. Essentially what Iâm saying is if youâve made your point trust that itâs been read, and move on and leave some space for other ideas. I love this place and value it enormously, but I wish it was more fun, more conversational, and we could all be less rigid.

Salzburg is a very interesting and picturesque place. Itâs not that warm this time of year though, so unlike Christian I do recommend taking a shirt.

For those of you who get annoyed by posters on here, but still want to contribute, I developed a coping mechanism a few years back that helps keep it all fun. I imagine certain posters as fictional characters. One is George Costanza, another is Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh books, and another is Dwight from the Office. Then when I read their posts it makes me laugh, and helps me remember they are just people. Whatever you need to do to stick around I reckon. This place needs all the opinions, but itâs the most fun when nobody takes it too seriously.

I legitimately think Clayton is just trolling the world now, and itâs hilarious.

Open Letter to the MFC
I think itâs a very interesting argument either way in regards to who orchestrates the review. If reviewed externally youâre much more likely to get a warts and all disclosure of where the problems lie. Sounds good right? But what if the review says things that supporters have made it very obvious they donât want to hear? What then? I suspect this is a part of the decision making, which is not to say I support any dog in the fight. Itâs just to say that supporters have made their opinions very well known over the last few months, and it may actually be limiting the clubs options in regards to outcome.

Open Letter to the MFC
I would like it to be publicly known that I have never taken any money to voice my opinions here on Demonland, but I would be VERY willing to be anyoneâs mouthpiece for the right price.

The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
Iâm now firmly of the opinion that the AFL is trying to make it really obvious to clubs that the compensation for teams that finish lower will be really strong. I think they are trying to have clubs be more open to Free Agency, and to structure contracts as such. Why sign a player whoâs good but not great beyond their FA year, if you can be rewarded with a top 10 pick for them? I think the AFL has been disappointed with the impact of FA, and this is their way of making it more palatable for everyone.

NON-MFC: Trade Talk
In shocking news, every club thinks every player is worth a first round pick.

Dan Houston
This from Tim Lamb in The Age says a lot. Looks like a massive own goal: With Dan Houston [changing his mind], is there a concern these instances are causing other players to have concerns about coming to your club? Yeah, obviously, when stuffâs in the media, if youâre a player, if youâve got choice, and thereâs noise around a club, which there was [around us] at that time, then obviously, that could have an impact. But in terms of Dan specifically, I canât answer that. But yeah, thatâs a fair point youâre asking. Is that something you need to address internally and clear up for the future, to make sure the players do want to come to your club? 100 per cent. We donât want to be a club that players donât want to come to. We want to be a really attractive place for players to come to. Are you attractive at the moment? (Long pause) Thatâs a good question. Hard to answer. Yeah, itâs hard to answer. Is it concerning that you have to pause and think about it? Iâm just trying to give a measured answer.

Noble is wildly over valued in my opinion. I donât think his skillset is particularly difficult to find.

The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
I just think the system is currently interesting for clubs. Iâve always felt like historically clubs have offered contracts to avoid FA taking someone away. If the compensation is going to be considerably better than what someone would get in a trade it might swing back the other way a bit, and make FA more attractive to everyone to explore. Might be the reasoning behind the consistent overs on compensation. You never want to lose your top 5 players to FA, but perhaps after that it becomes more attractive.

My partner refers to the clubs shenanigans as âThe Real Housewives of Caseyâ.

Josh Battle
St Kilda are a dog of a club. Forcing Battle not to come to the BnF, and then making out like bandits with a top 10 pick for him. It's such a 1970's 'us against the world' mentality. No modern player would want to go there now. They've revealed themselves to be petty and small minded.
