Congratulations to Scott Pendlebury who becomes the first player in AFL history to play 400 games without ever stepping foot on Kardinia Park. He also holds the games record on the MCG. He’s played 62.5% of his games at the G. 252 out of 400. And the fixture is fair and equitable, and there’s nothing to see here.

Interesting article on the AFL website ranking the fixture difficulty to date, and then the run home. The most fascinating one is Carlton. Had the equal 9th hardest run to date, but then have the 15th hardest run over the next month! How a team makes a preliminary final and gets that fixture the next year is beyond comprehension. They are the only team to play 17th and 18th twice this year. The fixture is so rigged it makes a mockery of playing so many games. Just give the finals to the teams you want in it AFL, and save us all a couple of months.

We got 28k against North a month ago - and it was bloody freezing that night too.

I took my mum and my nephew. I try to focus on the fact that football gives me a chance to connect with people. It was great to see them, but if given the choice I’d have left them in the car park for a win.

The reality of this season is our inability to maintain effort at the required level to execute our game plan. It was so obvious at the ground last night. This is all down to midfield. No Petracca, no Brayshaw, Oliver down on output, Viney down on output, Gawn clearly not 100%. I think the club is doing the right thing with Rivers. He’ll become the new Gus. Oliver tried incredibly hard last night but he’s exhausted 5 minutes into quarters. A real preseason will be the best thing for him. Get Tracc back and playing midfield - I think forward will be too hard psychologically in 2025. I still think we need someone else to come into our midfield mix to make it more sustainable. Sparrow hasn’t come on at all, and I expect the club will play Laurie for the rest of the season to really give him a proper understanding of the level. I feel like this year is a wash. Not much has gone right. I think the most important thing we can do is get a player in to bolster the mids, and focus on improving what we have. A lot of our players simply haven’t improved enough to cover the losses and improve the team. It’s a big preseason coming up for a lot of guys on our list, because if 2025 goes the same way I know JT will be pushing hard for the draft capital to bring in 3-4 at once, like 2019.

That kind of excuse really sh!ts me.

I reckon the AFL should have got Bob Dylan to do it. He refuses to play anything anyone wants to hear - so even his fans are unhappy. If you’re going to disappoint people you may as well go all in - and disappoint everyone.

I really liked Windsor’s game today. The kid is going to be an absolute weapon. It’ll be an interesting watch to see if he moves on ball more in seasons 3-5. He’s the kind of player we’ve missed for the last decade.

Umpiring late in games that significantly impact results will be the reason people stop going to the footy.
