Rankine didn’t start high school until 2012. No excuse. None. I’ve never seen so many falling over themselves to excuse AN OPPOSITION PLAYER WHO VERBALLY ABUSED SOMEONE AT WORK as I have this week on here. Honestly, it’s starting to get weird. He did a really dumb thing, that is inexcusable. He has nothing to do with our club, so Red and Blue glasses aren’t even an excuse. Let’s stop trying to excuse the person in the wrong shall we.

He brought the attention on himself, so he gets no sympathy there. Then his club argued that his mental health would be severally damaged by the impact of what he did - which the AFL bought and shortened his suspension. Then he goes to Europe on a holiday. The AFL couldn’t hold its nerve, and then he made them look like fools. It doesn’t pass any measure of credible punishment.

The must be the most infuriating club to support.

I reckon she’s right. The Crows successfully argued that Rankine’s mental health was in a poor place and the AFL took a week off his suspension as a result. 2 days later he boards a plan to Europe for a holiday. It makes a mockery of what they told the AFL, including the support he needed.

I’d argue that it’s more to do with the fact that we aren’t well suited to the burst, speed game, so when we play it we are gassed by the end. Our list wasn’t built for modern footy.

The umpire was standing 5 minutes away screaming at him to move back and Jake just didn’t hear. I actually hate that rule. The players don’t know exactly where they are on the ground, and it’s also the loudest part of the stadium. They need to get a little more leeway IMO. Protected zone is protected zone everywhere, but knowing that you’re 9 minutes from goal, not 11 is asking a lot.

That’s how ingrained this stuff is. Culture is evolving, but it’s critical that we recognise where the imbalances are - so that we can create a world that’s better for ALL future generations.

If your view is a bigoted view then the cap fits.

Here’s a bit of context…. LGBTQIA+ youth are 3 times more likely to commit suicide. You can try and ‘throw’ that away all you want, but it’s not going anywhere. This stuff literally contributes to suicide, and creates significantly poorer mental health outcomes for LGBTQIA+ people. The slur was aimed squarely at the idea that LGBTQIA+ people are less than. If that wasn’t the idea the very slur itself wouldn’t exist. As a gay person I’ve never felt so uncomfortable on Demonland as I have the last few days. I had no idea so many privileged bigots exist here, and how emboldened they feel to expose everyone to their ignorance. Enjoy your context, but don’t throw it away. Learn from it. Be better.

Selwyn will find our final quarters very hard to defend.
