I blame the Swanettes.

THE 2024 AFL • NATIONAL DRAFT - DAY TWO
If last nights long wait just to get to pick 5 is any indication, tonight will be painfully dull.

Welcome to Demonland: Levi Ashcroft
Tom Morris reporting Levi has apparently ‘cleared out his locker’.

THE 2024 AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - DAY ONE
I wonder if given the option St Kilda would pick Josh Battle with this next pick. Actually I don’t. Such a weird system the AFL has created.

The AFL 2025 Fixture
As an aside @No. 31… How do the reserved seat memberships work for Blues fans? Do you get visibility on both MCG and Docklands seats as part of your membership, or a reserved seat at one ground, and a ‘section’ at another?

How do reserved seats work for Marvel home games?

AFLW: Rd 10 vs Pies
No, you’re totally right. I saw Brisbane’s draw this morning on the AFL website and it was ridiculously easy. Our girls got absolutely punished by the draw, and in such a short season it definitely cost them a finals spot.

AFLW: Rd 10 vs Pies
Hawthorns draw in the AFLW means they are likely to win the $1 million dollar McClelland Trophy. If I was Brisbane I’d be absolutely furious about that. It’s a joke.

2025 Membership
Call the club. I upgraded from a Reserved Seat to a Trident membership because I called them and was a bit pushy. Don’t wait to be upgraded, tell them you want to pay for a bette seat and let them go to work. The people I dealt with were super helpful. The waiting list idea doesn’t work. I waited on it for years. Call em.

Time to go Goody?
There’s a security guard at the MCG who’d argue I’m not.

Pending Announcement
Welcome back Juice Newton.

Clayton Oliver
Tom Morris’ article tomorrow - Oliver out to Pasture? ‘Clayton is so desperate to leave Melbourne he’s contemplating becoming a race horse, according to 2 sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity (well one of the sources more gestured with its front hoof, but we all know what that means).’

Sam Weideman has been delisted
Buddy was the greatest double grabber to ever play the game.

Dan Houston
Doesn’t like the things he heard about Melbourne, but walks to Collingwood with De Goey, their President stepping down, the CEO accused of continuing racism (especially damning given their recent history), Bolton running out the door as quick as he could, and Leppitsch acting like a complete maniac. Also told Port fans 6 weeks ago he was staying put. I get that we’ve handled ourselves extremely poorly over the last 12 months, but Dan can’t take any higher ground here. I’m glad we didn’t trade pick 5 and a future first for him. He’s a great player, but we could help solve much bigger issues with 2 highly competitive mids in this draft.

2024 List and Contract Details
I don’t think the AFL media thinks we are irrelevant.

Farewell Adam Tomlinson
Is there? Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested in what the going rate is these days for someone coming out of the AFL system? 👍

2024 Phantom Drafts
I sort of assumed that last year, but then heard the story of JT travelling to meet Kolt and his family. Regardless it’s a mountain of work for them to do.

2024 Phantom Drafts
Richmond’s recruitment team are basically going to have to meet 25 players before the draft. It’ll be an absolute mountain of work to run every possible scenario, which they’ll need to do as they have so many picks at the really pointy end. I actually feel sorry for their recruitment staff after losing one of their own this week, and then coming into a once in a lifetime tsunami of work.

NON-MFC: Trade Talk
I reckon Richmond will be next level awful in ‘25. They’ll be uncompetitive in 70% of their games.

The Brandon Parfitt Thread
I don’t think his tank suits our game style.

Oliver Trade Rumours
I second those saying that things have got particularly unpleasant on here the last few months. There are a couple of posters with a pathological desire to always be ‘right’. It shows such a complete disregard for almost everyone else who uses this site when they chase each other across threads arguing the same points, or take an opposing view because someone had the audacity to challenge their opinion at one point. And if those users think we don’t see the baiting that goes on most of us do, and it’s boring and immature. I read a fascinating statistic about social media (of which Demonland is part of) this week. 90% of content is posted by less than 20% of users. Which means somewhere in the vicinity of 70% of opinion goes unheard, and most likely fills the middle ground. Essentially what I’m saying is if you’ve made your point trust that it’s been read, and move on and leave some space for other ideas. I love this place and value it enormously, but I wish it was more fun, more conversational, and we could all be less rigid.

Christian Petracca
Salzburg is a very interesting and picturesque place. It’s not that warm this time of year though, so unlike Christian I do recommend taking a shirt.
