  1. Last edited: Today at 8:54 PM I used to have a few mates on lists, and one of them is still heavily involved in a footy club at admin level. The ONE certainty is that listed players are always the last to find out what the recruiting team is up to - so take this 'info' with a huge grain of salt (if you aren't already because it's from bigfooty).
  2. I am still angry about yesterday but I think it's worth remembering we have the youngest team going around. The game plan has value, but not if the players don't execute it. I'm not sure we have many at Casey that would have helped. Aside from 2-4 kids at that level, some who haven't played yet, we actually don't run that deep in terms of quality. You can only select what you have. Where I was super critical was the similarity to the last loss to them. Either the coaching staff didn't identify the issues in that game - or they did and the players didn't execute it. Either way it was horrible to watch.
  3. Maybe we can have a 'no 3-word analysis' rule within 24 hours of a loss. My 3 word analysis of these is.. 'Bathwater not baby' I actually thought Dean Kent was great today. Couple of times he made things happen. I can see Etihad being a good ground for him, as it suits his game style. Tom Mac was again good too.
  4. It's not about St Kilda. I could care less about them. It's about us getting it done.
  5. So disappointed by today. All we can do is move forward - which means Grimes should make way for ANB and we need to get more games into Oliver. Mitch White looked a step off the pace today, and made 3 really critical errors when he needed to step up and attack the game. It should be list management time now. Also, I bet we get within 3-4 goals of the Eagles next week and put in a huge effort. Honestly, it will count for nothing. The club needs to take the next step and win games it should. Honourable loses aren't going to help - at the end of the day we sit below St Kilda on the ladder and I don't rate them at all.
  6. Dear coaching staff and leadership group, If you get beaten by the same team, on the same ground, in the same way twice in a season with essentially the same team - it's on you and you need to never, ever let it happen again.
  7. Wow. That was the worst quarter of footy I've seen us play for a long time. Ive defended our coaching staff but twice they kicked the ball to a player coming off the bench at kick ins and got goals from it. That's Jnr footy stuff.
  8. One of them has Lindsay Thomas and Boomer Harvey playing for him, so that doesn't help.
  9. Geelong looked terrible tonight. No system, no forward line. You take the free agent out and they'd have gone down to the 16th team on the ladder. I don't see success for them long term. None of their younger players are coming on, and they've had a fair few seasons to get games into them. And their coach is a d*ck.
  10. This Dockers Vs Dangerfield game is oddly compelling.
  11. Scott just confirmed it happened 4 weeks ago at a VFL game on AFL360. I think it doesn't look great for Mitch.
  12. Decent win in trying conditions. If we kicked 15 goals instead of 15 points it'd be a better reflection on the way the game was played. Jesse wouldn't be thrilled by what he saw by Freo. Tracca started stalking around the ball and looked dangerous. Needs to maintain his focus when he has the ball as his skills are better than he showed. Watts is a star. I'm so bloody glad to be typing that!
  13. He's not going to die wondering Grimesy. There is something to be said for honest footballers that get the most out of themselves. Hoping Grimes can work his way into becoming our next Crossy.
  14. 2 more years of 2 Darwin games just announced. Can't say I'm thrilled :/
  15. For those that have a crack at our leaders that goal from N. Jones was all about leadership. Took it on himself and delivered. That Pav free kick was very soft. Had it been a first year player it would have been play on.
  16. Yeah wtf? Anyone got it working?
  17. Nooooooo. I'm a better option at CHF and I'm 115 kgs with the turning circle of a 747. Blood the kids before bringing in list cloggers who can't move us forward.
  18. Lingy is a [censored]. He just explains in excruciatingly dull language, but in an excited tone, what just happened. Makes me wanna scream at the TV 'I know mate - I can see the screen too!'
  19. For all the talk about how uniquely 'even' the competition is this year there's 7 weeks of footy to go and no team outside the 8 can make it, and Hawthorn are a game clear on top of the ladder with a decent run home. I could give a flying about the 'suspense' of whether or not GWS or Sydney finish top 4. I'm bored, but I'm holding onto the hope that North fall in a giant hole. That will make me happy.
  20. Honestly can't understand why he'd want to go to Freo. Our midfield is mid range but improving, but Freo's is worse. They'd have to give us something huge to make it work, and I genuinely don't think they've got it. I don't mind if Jesse waits. He can watch Cam McCathy struggle next year for a few weeks. That'll probably save us 100K off the contract.
  21. This gets thrown around here a fair bit but I'd be interested in having a look at who is being referenced? Aside from the Bulldogs making a considerable jump the only other side to move strongly since 2014 is GWS - and I think we can all agree that the draft concessions offered them are extraordinary (and we should all be VERY grateful GCS stuffed up their recruiting). It's also a very different playing field now with Free Agency. In any other era Geelong and Hawthorn would be paying for their recent success, but now they top up and go again. To move up the ladder other teams have to move down too. I often hear the phrase 'It took me a decade of hard work to become an overnight sensation' in reference to success. It's a slow build and for a very young list that's great. The last thing we need is a team that thinks it'll come easy to them. And if you ask smart footy people about how Bevo ended up with such a strong team at the Bulldogs they'll tell you that Brendan McCartney did some great work with their developing players. He backed them in at the expense of some senior players and the senior players sooked (which cost him his job). I think McCartney's been proven right. Their rise has been built on their younger players.
  22. It's not the wins in my opinion - it's the competitive games against better opposition, and the ability to take the game on in spurts and score heavily. No doubt we have improved.
  23. Great effort, but some really bad turnovers. Adelaide turned over the ball a lot too. Big thing for me is we are still 2 midfielders short of a good team. We need Petracca, Brayshaw and Oliver to all come on in the back half of the year and get bigger tanks so they can roll through the midfield. Coming off an extra 4 day break we still couldn't run it out and honestly looked shot with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd. Dawes' days are coming to an end. Should keep him on to add bulk for the winter months but we need another forward that can compete in the air. Positives - Hunt is a ripper. Jesse Hogan has great hands in close. That 2nd quarter. Frost needs to be better in the air but looks so much better in defence.
  24. Dogs ability to continue to play on at all costs and take the game on was very commendable in that last 3 minutes. Ripping game.
  25. The Hawks jumper screamed of a marketing meeting where everyone was too scared about being perceived as insensitive towards cancer, instead of being the one that pointed out that it looked like they were promoting National Turkish Delight week.
