  1. It certainly wouldn't help Clark's trade/compo value if we came out and said we didn't want him. Again, it would be staggering if we didn't want him back though.
  2. 2% I just think if he was coming back, it's a really simple communication exercise. All he'd need to say is "I'm a Melbourne listed player and as long as the club will have me I'll be back next year". Actually, he wouldn't need to say it because this circus wouldn't have been created in the first place. The drivel from his manager was damning. I didn't get any confidence out of the Talking Footy segment I'm afraid.
  3. Have the Ox and GNF ever been seen together in the same room? Hmmm.
  4. Even just from a public relations standpoint, if Clark is leaving it makes sense for him to paint himself in the best possible light given how poor this looks. "Sorry guys, I love the Dees, thanks for everything but my doctor says I'm not allowed to play with you anymore. I'll make sure you get something in return."
  5. In the event he leaves, I suggest this draft order for Melbourne: Pick 2 Pick 3 (Frawley compo) Pick 4 (Clark Compo) Pick 5 (Priority Pick) Pick 6 (The priority pick they didn't give us last year because Clark was coming back)
  6. I doubt that was ever not going to happen regardless.
  7. Interesting thoughts, Jack. That would be quite a stunning decision by the club if that was the case. A fit Mitch Clark (a big if) would be worth a lot more to us than any scant compensation we'd likely receive in return. It would explain the relative silence from Clark though.

There goes our one winnable game for the year.
  9. Sweet. There is still at least one club with a longer finals win drought than Melbourne. Two if Richmond lose tomorrow.
  10. Classic stuff from Petrie. Has a player ever had their slacks dropped for the first 115 minutes of a game and then won their team the game like this? Shades of Ablett in the 94 prelim.
  11. There is going to be a flood of calls to Name a Game on Monday from supporters of the winning team enquiring whether they can get a copy of the game with the commentary taken out.
  12. Good work. I think the financial side of things is the key reason Sydney would entertain a trade. It was mentioned on Triple M (Can't remember who said it on their afternoon program) about a month ago that Mitchell is actually on closer to $600k. Usually it takes circumstances out of the ordinary for a club to look to trade a good young player, but for the reasons ignition has mentioned, it does make sense here.
  13. I was a bit ho-hum on footy this evening. I was watching a recording of today's NFL during the first quarter tonight such was my footy ennui a couple of hours ago. Logging onto Demonland however and seeing a bit of chatter about us being proactive in this early stage of the offseason, whether scuttlebutt or not, has lifted my spirits. I can't imagine why anyone would be downcast at the news that Paul Roos is doing his due diligence to try and improve this list. Lumumba's trade price will be interesting. Have Collingwood had a gut full of him? If so, this can't help their asking price. If the price is right, it's a definite yes from me. I hope those threatening to shelve their memberships can see things with a bit more clarity if a trade to Melbourne does eventuate. Not renewing over this after the eight years we've just had would be akin to crawling over a kilometre of broken glass, exotic cacti and scorpions and then complaining about your tinea.
  14. Like most people, I think Jones will win, with Tyson and Dunn a chance. I think Bail will finish top 5.
  15. That may explain in some small part why he never won a premiership. He may want to go through the history books and have a look at the defences of championship teams across a range of sports.

New Orleans San Francisco Carolina Almost picked Tennessee but should really wait one week until the KCCSS kicks in.
  17. E. Those two merry souls who voted 'A' will have a complete aneurysm if and when Melbourne actually win a flag.
  18. That was my initial reaction. We'll see if we can pull a Demonland special and trade Blease, Strauss, Tapscott and pick 82 to St. Kilda for pick 1.
  19. Port came into the league with teal, borrowing from the 90s craze sparked by my very own San Jose Sharks and later the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's not an intimidating colour, and the Jags have limited the use of it and a few years ago the Sharks started wearing the black jersey for a number of home games and playoffs, but if you own it and take pride in it, it works. The problem was the embarrassing designs they had initially. An horrific top with flashes of lightning, and that laughable zig zag guernsey would have looked comical whatever colours they displayed.
  20. Is it too much to ask for teams that have entered the league in the last couple of decades to come up with uniforms that don't clash with already existing clubs?
  21. Great to see the Camberwell High School blazer getting a run on mad Monday. Bonus points from me.
  22. Really? I was thoroughly peed off at the time and, looking back through this thread, there were plenty of others who weren't happy either.
  23. I'm not sure how AFL fans and media can just brush off talks of other clubs offering Frawley or any other free agent deals before free agency begins as though it's not a big deal. It's probably just scuttlebutt and maybe they haven't spoken to him, but if they have, it's tampering and any club guilty of this should be stripped of draft picks and fined heavily, and player and manager suspended. Chip appears from the other side of the fence to have ambled through much of this season as though his mind is elsewhere. The solution clearly isn't in the idiotic NRL method of having someone still run around in your colours after committing to someone else for the next season. The current system needs to be policed heavily and if that means someone gets an enormous paddling on the backside to set an example to the rest of the league then so be it. Of course, unless we are the first ones to stuff it up blatantly, then just give us a small fine.
  24. I think that was just the writer's predictions. Reinforcing my belief is that fact that he has thrown a contracted player, Evans, in there.
