  1. 50% chance .....better than 3% surely !!
  2. To all those typical supporters who viewed Rodan's selection with derision, I have this opinion. He was recruited with pick 88 on minimal money, always gave his all when he played & I think you will realise his mentoring input with our young midfielders over the next couple of years. Footy clubs are made up of a variety of different players with different roles & I for one was glad a Rodan did the mentoring with our younger players than a sulky self obsessed Maloney, I also appreciated his honest comments about where he thought our list was, he was very positive ( didn't need to be) & I like the fact that he wants to bring his 3 young boys to watch us play. We have handled the retirements of Davey, McDonald & rodan very well .....a new mfc ......so just embrace a player who embraced us & is set to endure a 4th knee re-construction. I didn't hear him sook & have a woe is me demeanour.....some of our demonlanders need to adopt his attitude!
  3. Rodney Eade 2yr contract with Adam Simpson as understudy ......-happy with that
  4. Moloney is definitely not a loss. I can cop him not getting on with neeld or even respecting him , however he was a senior player who should have at least tried to help his team mates & the younger players around him . Your club & the desire to play for it should have over ridden his angst over neeld. As for McLean he has been an ok player at Carlton, if we had been a bit more astute with our pick no11, we wouldn't even been talking about this. So far out of all the players that have left us ...only Maloney has had an ok season but he certainly wouldn't have made a difference in the win/loss situation at melb. I haven't forgotten the finger pointing, the petulance & the ignominy of the 186 point loss to Geelong. Maloney was intrinsically involved with all of that. In fact McLean & Maloney share similar attributes.....dumb & flat track bullies.
  5. Geez we're harsh on young players. He is developing every game & will be a 10 year champion player. As his confidence & the teams confidence grows ...skills & decision making improve. No-one is perfect immediately .....already a lot of harsh criticism of young players has been shown to be unwarranted ...I.e Nicholson, terlich etc. they also still have a lot of improvement as players but as they all edge closer to 60 odd games then we will see their true worth.
  6. Was listening to Patrick smith & he mentioned the scenario of hanging onto Neil Craig for this year & next year but having one of the up & coming coaches as an understudy ..a bit like sheedy & Leon Cameron at GWS. I quite like that idea...the players seem happy with Craig so not as much disruption again & Hinckley at port is proof that you don't always need to be a big name to get success. Eade didn't get the ultimate success, Choco .....why wasn't he offered the top job at GWS....I mean if sheedys coaching performance on the weekend is anything to go by ....choco should of had the job & sheedy, he shouldn't be there & Roos as much as I would like him.....I remember the ugly style of football he was always accused off. If things keep slowly improving & the players continue to speak so highly of Craig maybe they should look at that scenario.
  7. I remember the discussion re Rich & why didn't we take him . I think wines will be similar to rich. Whereas toumpas ( who did have double hip surgery) will have an enormous upside. Don't judge young men so early on in their careers. If one was petty then it will be fun proving you wrong over the next year or so but seriously it's just such an unintelligent comment !
  8. Frawley said on SEN today that terlich is in all Australian form.....very impressed .....Craig also said if he had been in a top four team there would be a lot more talking about him .
  9. Fine.... Missed where you mentioned the name .!! However my comments stand re him as well. Any reason for the insult..... I mean we do all follow the same team & hopefully wish for the same success
  10. My opinion of the PP ...if we get it great ...,if not don 't really care. But what we all need to remember the AFL needs a healthy viable competition. In all other sporting codes we face world wide exposure. $3 million & a PP is a drop in the ocean compared with what they are pouring into GWS & to a lesser extent the GC. They have done It with Carlton ,Bris Lions & several other clubs. . With the compromised draw & sycophantic pandering to the "larger" clubs ... I have no compunction at all in receiving any help he AFL offers us
  11. Sometimes you read so many posts & then read comments like this & think meh, just ignore it. But also you may think a ridiculous statement like that deserves a comment back. To construe Tom Mac's actions as you have, smacks to me someone who doesn't watch games live or has little understanding of the game. Bad disposal at times..yes..selfish etc ...definitely no!
  12. Chris Dawes had been very ill the night before the saints match so it was not his ankle that was the issue. I would assume he would be fine to take on the doggies
  13. If you don't realise by now that bomber Thompson is the single entity that connects this drug saga with ess & danks then you truly have your head in the sand. He was the single biggest reason that Ablett left Geelong ....& aka Kennett with the melb presidency tilt ....can't believe you are serious about Thompson.. This belongs in the "get L.Matthews thread....just simply "ridiculous!!!
  14. Omg....are you serious !!!!exemplary coaching record at GWS .... NOT!!!!!!
  15. Dermot is an unqualified [censored]. I listened to him on SEN tonight and basically he embellishes stories & talks just to hear the sound of his voice. It always comes back to him & how good he was or decisions he made on the hawks board etc. sometimes I wish he would play back what he says.....maybe he would realise how much dribble he sprouts. He constantly uses (or makes up) big words & uses them in the wrong context. I respect he was a great player ....but seriously people like him are all that is wrong in the media today.
  16. I guess the same goes for Sydney then ( last years premiers )?
  17. I embrace the opinions of a Stuie. I now realise we had serious problems as a club off field & on field. The on field was highlighted by the 186 thrashing but that actually highlighted a problem that was already there. That in turn started a ball rolling that started to expose the problems of a dysfunctional club. The one legacy of the McLardy led board was they acknowledged this & gave the brief to the incoming coaching panel to it cut these cancers (Maloney etc) & start anew. I actually see parallels to the Pies. Even though they have been successful Buckley has realised the team & present culture is not what he envisages will carry the team forward. He is prepared to sacrifice short term pain for long term gain. He has the luxury of a nucleus of talented senior players who will tide him over whilst the younger players in his mould come through. We do not. We are developing these players who in future years will provide the correct environment for our younger players coming through. I agree the scoreboard is not so important. Unless you are in contention for the 8 , percentage is largely irrelevant. I would rather the players learnt to play the game rather than throwing them in defensive positions, just to reduce the margin. After all you can only lose 4 points?
  18. Go back .... Look at the length of their coaching careers & who they coached ....maybe neeld deserves a chance .... I mean where does the next crop of super coaches come from? You can't just repeatedly sack every new rookie coach who doesn't do well in his first couple of years. A lot of these sackings come from disgruntled coterie groups who unfortunately tip in heaps of money then think it gives them the right to run the club. Why would you possibly want a Leigh Matthews or a sheedy.... Their time was a long time ago....their comments border on eccentricity & we accept this because of past reputations ( a situation very peculiar to afl). Neither of these people would be good for our club, maybe in terms of marketing, but definitely not on field. There is absolutely no super coach out there who will turn our team into a super team before their time. I will believe the players that believe in neeld & his coaching team & will back him until the end of his tenure. If supporters choose to drop off, they are fickle, try & generate the same passion for another team .have a chat to a fitzroy, south melb supporter &ask whether those premierships would have been sweeter under their original club than a blended club. I think not. Constructive criticism, yes, negative criticism, no. Bleed for the players who care.....we will get there !!
  19. To demon31 & any other detractors of don mclardy.......you are small minded vitriolic people who should acknowledge that this man took on two positions ..MFC & Reach foundation.....positions he didn't want or need ... Simply to help out a mate! He did the job to the best of his ability & we should acknowledge that fact & be very grateful. We seem to live in a very gratuitous society.... Instant success ...everyone perfect ..no time for learning or development. I have taken the tack that the mfc for me started in 2011 & I am there for the ride. Let's get over the past problems, recruiting , bad development of players etc , we have a good man in p.jackson to get the ball rolling & we will go ahead. Really ...what is the point in agonising over past decisions.... Lets move on & have a bit of positivity
  20. Funny, I saw disappointment , naturally. It amazes me how you could diagnose depression, frustration, unhappiness & confusion in 22 players all at one match. Maybe that's what you were feeling ?
  21. Soidee, that is an extremely blinkered opinion. Frawley like all footballers share the same dreams & ambitions of supporters, to win a premiership. Unlike a lot of other careers, the window of opportunity is small. Why would frawley who has already been at the club 7 years & seen two coaches want to hang around & possibly watch another coach go through his plans for a rebuild. I think not. Also it is your opinion ( which you are entitled to ) that neeld is not doing the job he was paid to do, I for one think he is.
  22. I believe Danny frawley made a very succinct comment on triple m today , when discussing melb, that the last thing his nephew wants is another person in 3 years telling him something different to do again. Maybe the reason there is doubt over these guys is they would actually like neeld to stay. I have never seen or heard anything to suggest that any of these players do not "get on" with neeld. I refuse to believe anything that any media person says about our club especially as the standard of journalism regarding the mfc has been nothing short of gutter journalism.
  23. Deez Nutz......that is a frighteningly blinkered statement
  24. So let me get this right......the media got it horribly wrong & acted in an extremely distasteful & immoral manner.......yes? But now they rationalise it all by saying ......well he would have been sacked ...but the club can't afford it. And of course a lot of our anti-neeld 'landers swallow this tasty morsel & are now parroting it as the "new gospel" according to our illustrious media contingent. Surely it wouldn't be this scenario...neeld & his football dept are queried & maybe in a more in-depth manner (it was p.jackson's 1st board meeting) about the state of the list etc. in fact exactly as neeld states the meeting was conducted. He & his fellow coaches would certainly be aware ...as would all of the football dept.....because Jackson stated that everyone is on notice so they are under no illusion about that. Now (god forbid) that the team does actually improve in the second part of the season as our players get more games under their belts & senior players return. Imagine if the players actually do rate & like neeld & would rather sign contracts with him at he helm than not........I mean wouldn't it be amazing if some of those players that have played under 10 games or so & who some of you are already rating as average, B graders or plain, old, workhorses actually surprise us as they get closer to the magic 50 plus game mark. But we wouldn't want all that to happen because then that would mean neeld might stay & then who would you direct all your vitriol & negativity at. Then & only then you might realise that no-one is going to magically get games into players, extra pre-seasons into to match harden young bodies & injured players back on track in record time. Maybe he might not be the man in the long run but I have no problem in going the journey with him.
