  1. He is someone else,s problem now. Lets just hope they do not get him back to 6 time winning club B&F and helping win a Grand Final. They are traits that all players play for and it will be interesting to see what happens. He gave me many happy hours and I will still remember him as a club great. I think it says as much about the club as it does about Clarry, perhaps we got his contract wrong and didnt provide the correct support to continue to get the best out of him. I wasnt in the room at any stage so have no idea really, but I am disappointed and dont believe the club has communicated well, which is a continuing issue. I love and support the club and will continue. I hope this years performance improves quickly and we enjoy success which overides our disappointments.
  2. Might have been Ben from Bridge road Brewery. He is a snowboarder and was one of the first small brewers in the area. He has also always mentored and supported new brewers in the area including Bright brewery, he was always happy to help them with advice and supplies while they got started. He has now expanded into Brunswick and an outlet at the airport.
  3. Thats a great shot Max a giant amongst the kids.
  4. Bugger Im still in Norfolk Island on the way to Brisbane so miss out on all the fun, And no one took up an option to use Lochwood Cottage (AirBNB in Beechworth) for an MFC booking as offered in the raffle. Oh well its early days and lovely to be in NE Vic, hope the boys enjoy it.
  5. Well that was bloody wonderful. I was hoping that there was some internal dland talent who would solve the issues of our club. This is just the beginning. Hope this is conveyed to the club.and we get further editions as the season builds. Wow just Wow. You must be performing somewhere Let us know
  6. I hope he is reminding them to not only display their skills but to get to know their teamates skills intimately. Know how far they can kick , How fast they can move, how strong they are in a contest ,etc. This is the time to really find out how everyone fits together, and where they fit.
  7. Can anyone advise if players are being conditioned to shepherding after distributing the ball to another player, ie making space for that player and protecting them to allow them to balance and deliver more precisely. I have noticed for some time that that instinctive action to shepherd seems to have disappeared with the emphasis on a quick gather and release and then to move on to the next passage of play.
  8. It has been a recurring issue for both men and womens teams. I have suggested that the club invite the umpires to training or special sessions so we can correct our techniques. We are obviously doing something wrong with the way we tackle or handle our opponents and the ball.Perhaps we position ourselves badly and obscure the fair sighting , or we move the ball on too quickly or too slowly, we must correct this. Or there is some difficulty in seeing our necks heads and backs because of the colour of our jumper.
  9. Ive noted before it is the definitive Three Letter Acronym
  10. Thanks for the report. The Norfolk Island Masters Squash tournament is now the focus for me. Just careful with loading to ensure peak condition for competition next week.
  11. Gnarls Barker says it all "You think im crazy"
  12. It just seems the free kicks are there and paisd to lions but the same free kicks are not paid to the Dees We really have to earn it or it is a blatant free while a soft in the side is paid to Lions/
  13. It will be interesting to see how his new club manages him. Some clubs had difficulty with Hogan but I think he went ok last season.
  14. Certainly hope so Redleg. There seems to be constant comment on power and influence, not to mention financial and political failures.
  15. One of the most important skills or attributes of Board members is that they have an ability to work with others so an open election process may throw together a group with different skills which are then utilised. Nominating a particular candidate is merely reinforcement syndrome which stifles innovation and progress.
  16. Dont have an axe to grind.(I have a chain saw which is sharpened regularly). While this does create some restrictions in selecting a candidate with some skill or experience in emerging, innovative or totally outstanding features, having a set of relevant guidelines assist both candidates considering application and the board in conducting their application and appointment process (vet) of available candidates within skill sets. But certainly naming a preferred candidate is even more restrictive and could be seem to be intimidating or coercing a result. It is an unfortunate and unecessary staement.
  17. Tassie has always been a state divided. North = free settlers, South = Convicts. Its why they always had two leagues. Ross in the centre was where the troops were stationed to respond to calls from either population. Spend the money on a cheaper covered ground in Ross and spend the savings on an improved North South Highway joining Hobart and Launceston with an outlet to Ross.
  18. Surely we can construct a contract with a provision of investment incentive and penalties for loss of return on investments.
  19. Im a redleg member. Im the loud one behind the camera. Its a great place to watch the game apart from my strident support which often moves those in front of me. I was a guest when I ceased my membership when I first moved up here in 2000. Changed to country member but I always went with mates in redlegs. Renewed membership in 2020 when I went more regularly. I still regard my membership as donation as despite my best efforts I just cannot get to every game. The membership team is great and I can usually arrange a guest ticket at the last moment if my friend decides to come. Its always a great day as you get to the Hassett room to join with other dedicated supporters.
  20. Dont entirely disagree, but I also think if you look at the top teams they were all well muscled as well as having pace. Only a few need explosive pace but endurance is now even more significant. A few bulls to break packs are important also and i think thats the skill of the coach in rotating players off the bench to initiate or respond to the tempo of the game
  21. Good comments and with the pace of the game there is now a greater incentive to implement a new churn or washing machine strategy where players are constantly on the move running forward to receive the ball and then returning to run back to a defensive position to run forward again. This constant rotation would be especially effective against zone defence as runners can move into space rather than into contests. A good mix of youth and older players must be used to use the squad best while resting and matching hardened bodies when required against specific opponents. I have promoted these action sfor some years and hope KIng will introduce some different tactics and strategies than those Goody seemed to adhere to.
  22. Hey Red. Do you have any deeper insight into MRC actions than reported in the Age Saturday. I found the reports of the payouts and financial situation enlightening, also the bulk payment of memberships, (which resonated in a familiar way to previous MFC action). But more significantly the final sentence referring to board member Tanya Fullarton who said her "support for the SGM was entirely about protecting an important racing venue". While I find that admirable in intent in some senses, does this philosophy identify a concern that MFC could be compromised if there is any partnership or alignment with MRC. I also noted the significant reliance of MRC on gambling income. Are the alignments you have identified in joint membership arrangements compromised by the MFC stance on gambling.
  23. either ok probably A but whichever is easier for you to maintain
  24. So I think Max looks at the squad and sees 2 significant players gone. He lived with Clarry so is very close to his concerns. He has literally and figuratively fed him and understands what is required. He must believe that he can be replaced within the squad by others lifting, and maybe more aware than others of how change needs to be affected. Petracca was also certainly a significant part of the premiership group but as stated the 2025 Patracca is not the 21 Petracca. Again I believe he changed but sees his role as a job, he may not be the game breaking Norm Smith big time player that a premier team needs. Again Max would be closer to him than most, and closer to the squad to understand who might step up to replace him in a new structure and game plan. Im happy to go with Max. It is a massive test of King, and the club but I think the truths of the public statements are certainly good. We all move on GO DEES
  25. There's always the allure of father son continuity for a club. Ashcrofts at Bears and SOS at Carlton are the two that spring to mind. Of course we have Viney and Barassi as successes .Stretch a recent not quite. AFL participation is a difficult career and subject to many influences. As has been stated Taj has played 21 games which is more than many. Was he given enough support/ opportunity? Only he and the club can know. Its a pity for him and I hope he has alternative options to pursue. I also hope he does not leave with bitterness and can speak positively of his experiences at the club. Would be good to get some insight into his feelings, perhaps he could be invited into Demonland podcast etc.
