Exactly, and in football terms I trust you would have more of a clue about him than most on here because you see him play week in week out, not just a highlight reel of a few minutes.

That is just about the most stupid comment I have read. Remember a club did take Darling in their first round, the same club has not gone near Garlett. Darling had a couple of issues but if you ask recruiters his image was only part the problem, he had a very ordinary final junior on ground year. His previous years had been good but the thinking was he didn't have the advantage his size (man child) had given him earlier on. Guess what, they were wrong. His off ground issues by comparison to Garlett were minor and could be put down to him being a bit of a lad. If Garlett was just a boy being a boy he would have been drafted already, his issues run far deeper than that. He is a multiple offender and besides as football watches from Perth who are part of this forum have said, he is a down hill skier, he's not Cyril and hasn't done 1% of the work that Cyril has to get where he is. Give it a break 'tona', it aint going to happen.
  3. The only way to tackle with more players becoming adept at lifting arms in the tackle and getting clean use away. Forget the idea of pinning the arms, you only risk tackling high. Take them low, take their body off the ball which does 2 things it hurts (takes the wind out) and they will be thinking preservation rather than getting off a good handball, the ball will go into dispute.
  4. Why don't we have a look at your man Garlett if he's still available.
  5. Not wanting to get into the definition debate again but I would say since Flower.
  6. Most probably right there.
  7. I don't agree with this, Martin, Gysberts and Morton were all on contracts and we couldn't move them on quick enough. The FD obviously think he is more value than a lot of people posting on here.

What enormous talent, due to your potential talent we will put our program at risk of being derailed like it was in 2012 because we admire potential talent so much and realise that Barassi never knew what he was talking about.
  9. So who was the full time mid you are talking about, it was't Trengove.

For one they haven't taken him yet and for another these are the same genius's that thought they could fast track physical development of a young team and destroyed them last season. Michael Voss with 3 flags also took his team apart with poor trading a couple of years ago, they may now be slowly recovering.
  11. I wouldn't have thought so, lets judge it at the end of his career. Stalled a bit last season but fair chance he was carrying injury. By the way Trengove sits comfortably with the names you mention if you compare first seasons and which one of those guys is captain of their club?
  12. A real get out of jail free card when other options are covered or under pressure just put it out to Howe, one on one he will be his opponent in the air pretty much every time.
  13. I get what you are saying 'Curry', nothing has been proven yet but at least we have taken some steps that at this stage look positive. I know at this time last year I was really excited about the year ahead with the new FD in place only to be left flat before the NAB cup was finished. I'm not sure many saw 2010 as a false dawn with expectation for a big 2011 but the subsequent poor performance despite the wins gave more than warning signs that things weren't right at the MFC, 2012 was proof. I am excited to see what 2013 brings, to see if we may be on the right track this time. It won't be the wins but it will be how we go about it that will be the measuring stick for me. The NAB cup will again start to show the story, I reckon I will have a pretty good handle on where we are by March 2013.

I think you are right, he has too many cheer leaders in WA.
  15. Bit slow today, had to think twice; very good 'dandeeman'.

Didn't know Darling was indigenous, always thought Davey, Jetta and Barry were so we have at least one.
  17. I think it was a set up for sure and have said so previously. They've only been spinning out the Brock was a sub stuff recently, funny about that. There was no mention of it at all at the time or in the weeks after, it seems they are covering themselves.
  18. According to KB this morning Paul Roos instruction to McVeigh to go forward but don't kick a goal was "tongue in cheek", I guess the same defence could be mounted by CC given his renowned sense of humour. Seems Wilson's case against us is not based on any solid evidence.
  19. 'Rhino', I think 2011 showed us that the rebuild was a fail, 2012 proved it. Neeld made a telling comment at an early press conference after a poor performance, asked if he was surprised by the performance he answered "No". The best part of 2012 was finishing the season and getting on with the trade/draft period that will be the start of us moving forward. We now move on and agree that it's unlikely we will put in another year like 2012.

It obviously did them no good, wait a minute didn't they win this years premiership. That policy mustn't work then???? Absolute rubbish the whole post but in particular the bit about the bombers, for a start they haven't committed to him and for a second the name Andrew Lovett mean anything to you, another rookie pick they took a chance on. Only arrogance would have Hird take this one on, Voss thought he could do it with Fev lets see if Buckley is so stupid to find one as well. IF is a big word, let him prove himself first. Sorry to add to it again but I think you are probably right. Not sure why I'm wasting my time.

"He told me as he left, 'if I have another 12 months at Swans, I just have to be the best player at the club'," football manager Phil Smart said. Can't you see 'Bif', he just doesn't get it. Everyone knows he can play football, the point is they don't know if he is capable of pulling his head in and making it as an AFL footballer.
  22. It certainly can't hurt 'hoopla'.
  23. I think it is much more about his work ethic with rehab and training. He was a good clearance player but couldn't or wouldn't run and spread from the contest, some say he was a ball magnet but this had more to do with a lack of respect shown by the opposition when they tightened up on him he struggled.
  24. He did, didn't he. Wonders never cease although he still called us the bears.
