I think it is much more about his work ethic with rehab and training. He was a good clearance player but couldn't or wouldn't run and spread from the contest, some say he was a ball magnet but this had more to do with a lack of respect shown by the opposition when they tightened up on him he struggled.

He did, didn't he. Wonders never cease although he still called us the bears.

If you have ever had to deal with people who have problems in their life be it drugs, alcohol, commitment, realising their potential in any endeavour, whatever the issues and I don't profess to know what his are, then you will know that it is entirely up to them to turn their lives around. They will tell you what they want you to hear but in the end it's all BS. Neeld, Clark, Viney no matter who they are have absolutely no impact on a personal decision and are only useful once the person makes the decision, truly makes the decision and shows by actions then they can provide the support and infrastructure to help. You don't think Carlton had a bunch of heavy hitters try to talk with Fev, ask the boys at North if Denis Pagan was a lightweight, Ian Collins. You reckon big Jono Brown is not a scary enough unit at Brisbane, Vosy anyone. Dimmer is facing the same issues at the Tiges, didn't save Martins mate. I have faith our recruiting department will know if Garlett is worth a go, looking at his interview post draft it doesn't look like he has a clue and is only blowing wind up...having an ex copper to investigate and ask questions is a real plus for us I think. To me he needs a year or 2 at state level stepping up to the mark as a player and solid citizen. Good luck to Essendon if they go down this path, they should have learned their lesson already.

I would be surprised if Wines wanted to leave Port after 2 years. Hinkley has a good rep with players and Wines seems to have the type of commitment clubs want. Unless something goes drastically wrong at Port then I think there might be a few here wanting their cake and eating too. Happy with Jack and Jimmy, look forward to seeing what careers they can build at Melbourne and future duals with Ollie at Port.

plus 2 more in the rookie draft and we have well enough. -
I would like to see us rookie him. Around this time last year I was wanting us to pick up Toumpas and Haynes in this draft. Haynes has slipped a bit this year but has a big upside. If he has the work ethic to go with his athleticism then he will make it. We have Toumpas, lets get Haynes.

Lucas Cook was also a light AA, lacking a bit of pace. I don't know much about this kid but if he is an outside player with not much leg speed then I wouldn't be taking him. He had a good carnival and the skills are there according to many posts but didn't get picked up. If it's not off field issues then recruiters must see a flaw, maybe the leg speed, maybe other things.

He is a real winner this kid. Check out his interview with Matt Burgan on the MFC site, it's a real pleasure to listen to this kid speak compared to the monotone BS about the 'football industry' from T$. He actually loves what he does, how about that. -

The only downer of the night! -
Garlett's talent is so seductive but I couldn't stand another season of off field stuff we have had to put up with this year. Bring on 2013.

Whatever happened we have had a pretty impressive trade and draft period. Damien Barrett and his mate Greg Denham can go ...... -

Both good kicks on them and real competition for places. Bring on season 2013. Looks the goods does Kent, doesn't he 'Ben' -

Very impressive highlights, big left foot kick on him. Plenty of run and hard inside to boot. -
Yes from me, didn't have a great year but has a huge upside. With the senior bodies we have now we could afford to take him on. As he is a Carey boy the Viney's will know if he has the right attributes.

Really happy with picking up Jimmy, I've been pushing for him since last year and then thought we had lost him to GWS. Toumpas and Viney with Jones, Trengove, Howe, Grimes, Silvia, McKenzie, Blease and co. we now have a midfield. -
He who can't kick for...

Actually foot skills on goal let them down, not the first team that's happened to.

...and Barcelona take Messi, go figure.

Todd would know him from his time in Adelaide and Jack has played with him so I think we will know what we are getting. -
Not having a go here 'picket' but interested to know how you would classify Judd. Is he inside grunt or run and carry? What about Ablett?
-
Good on you for sticking up for your mate, he certainly has a lot of talent but his height may go against him in the end. It hasn't hurt Brent Harvey though so I hope he gets a look in. If he really has the desire and gets overlooked this time he could really push his name up in the VFL.
-
...only when Collingwood got overs for him. Look, I understand your wanting to grab a Vic but I think the go home factor is not as big as you think. Most that want to go home are usually not getting enough game time or as in Wellingham's case have really been squeezed out with salary cap pressure. Too much money for Cloke not enough left over for Wellingham.

Mate, if you read my whole post you will see that I agree with you. It is not a knock on Jack it is that he approaches the game from a different point to Hodge (another post said he could become a Hodge type), he has the ability to set up the game like Hodge but he will do it in his way, he is quicker and taller than Hodge and could really cut the game up if he reaches his full potential.
