  1. You are right with this one, it was their downfall according to the critics and things have turned around quickly. Goddard has helped as a utility but a big part of the improvement has really come from the development from within, also they had Zaharakis out injured most of last season. Watson hasn't got any faster but those around him have stepped up to help. Maybe with a bit of development and clever recruiting, something we have not been guilty of in the past, we may yet get a decent midfield.
  2. Pretty sure you are right there 'old dee', I seem to remember it being standard practice.
  3. Interesting numbers 'ash', I can see your point. Not sure I agree or not but worth considering. ..maybe add Todd Viney's games as GM Development but we do come up short on AFL experience.
  4. ...and that's the truth of it. It was a pretty filthy effort from those involved. So long as they are on the outer and have no influence that's all that matters now, names can come whenever, if ever. If they start to peddle rubbish and create trouble again then the names must come out. Not sure what you are getting at here???
  5. A little thing called experience 'Colin' might be the answer to this question. He's only just past his first year as a senior coach and has had a lot to deal with in that time. He may or may not make it but one things for sure he will be a lot wiser when he finishes than when he started.
  6. He is exactly the type of player we need, plays through forward, goes into centre bounce and makes an impact around the ground.
  7. Perfect choice; quick learner, knows how to get people on side, killer looks (a marketers dream) but as tough as nails. Don't mess with Danni. The Hound at FF and his brother the Mountain at CHF, if they don't kill each other first I don't think we would be getting anymore calls about playing 'bruise free football'.
  8. Like I say, nothing wrong with the physical side or the skills but mentally he would go missing, this was what pushed him back in the draft. I really like what I've seen and think there is a good chance both him and Kent will be seen as absolute draft steals. Tynan is a really good kid who gives it everything and it got him a couple of games last year but he doesn't have the natural assets others have so will need to work even harder to make it. Seems to have stalled a bit this year.
  9. Half way through the 5th book (Book 4) and never miss the show, so good. Is Tyrion the small forward many are looking for?
  10. Was trying to get away with not going over this again, but I would think no matter the height it's more the role and they need to be muti-faceted these days. Rather than saying we must get a legit crumbing forward I would say we must get quality mids who can go forward and kick goals.
  11. This was the knock on him as a junior so it is an area he needs to work on. He's got pretty much everything else going for him, I reckon he will make it.
  12. My opinion 'Jack' is that CS gave them a rallying point, he was a divisive figure at the club whether that was fair or not. Now that he is gone it is important that the new CEO has no ties to the club and can get on with the job without the galvanising force that CS had become for those who would undermine the club.
  13. The point is I don't rate small forwards. The game changes and if you need any evidence listen to Mick talking about Yarran this week saying he will play in multiple positions. The call for a small forward is a wasted call, we need quality smalls, mids and talls and the quality mids and smalls will fill the role forward when required, spend time in the midfield and may even go back. St Kilda have a bunch of players who only play that small forward role now and it is hurting them. In the current game and the game and into the foreseeable future with capped interchange and the ball in continuos notion there is no place for the one dimensional small forward.
  14. There is no doubt in my mind that Taggert has the footy ability to make it, the knock on him has been that he goes missing. It's the mental element that if he gets on top of will make him a very good footballer and maybe even better.
  15. Has great credentials but I think we would be better off having someone with no affiliation with the club. Plus I think he might just be earning a bit more than we can pay.
  16. ...and the Saints are going how well.
  17. That's the point, he doesn't handle it well at all. Moloney had that problem with us and the better teams always kept him out of the game, he's been lucky at Brisbane because Rich has been the target. On the other hand Nathan Jones has been getting a lot of attention this year and he's handling it well, he just keeps on working.
  18. No to a crumbling forward but I've been through this all before, goal kicking mids who can go forward are what we need, one dimensional players we don't need.
  19. ...not me 'mjt'. would rather spend my money someone with a few more tricks, he doesn't do it in the big games.
  20. Yep, the quote from Misson the other day “We’re really buoyed by the fact that his Lisfranc repair looked pretty good.” 'pretty good', perhaps it's being an MFC supporter but would have preferred to see 'no problem at all with the Lisfranc' but 'pretty good'?????
  21. Now that's a whole other question 'old dee'.
  22. If he does play we will have to keep a close watch, as you say he has taken us apart many times in the past. Rich seems to be the one getting the tag these days and is not handling it well, if he is let loose like in the NAB series he is dangerous. Sorry for reading your post the wrong way, Black is often underrated for such a great player, I love watching him play but hopefully we don't get to see him this weekend.
  23. ...and if Black was playing that would be a good call but he's yet to play a game this year. by the way there is no way if he was playing you could rate Rich or Rockliff more highly,Black is one of the great players of the modern game.
  24. Yep, I think that says it pretty well. Handles himself well in the media but I'm hoping he can back it up on the ground. He has a lot to prove though, a big personal challenge.
