Interesting collection of players 'Pennant'.
-
Didn't seem overly keen on picking him up. So much for the pick 2 rumour.
-
Won't happen according to Mahoney.
-
No, but the members are getting restless. Will be more than that if they fall back further next year.
-
Watters is really on shaky ground, they are heading for Neeld Mark II and Buckley must pull something out of the bag for next season or the natives will lose it at Pie Land. I think we are on the up, couldn't get any worse. The Saints have yet to hit rock bottom but are headed there and the Pies, who knows but they are in danger of heading south.
-
So conject...what were you talking about?
-
No, Robbie had a few things going for him that Cale didn't. He was a real football player, he had sublime skills and a massive heart. It doesn't matter what era you play in these things always win out.
-
Robbie Flower says hello.
-
I think the only way we would take him is if he fell through to our pick in the PSD. Highly unlikely.
-
So...could you let us know what this damage is? There will be a lot of real damage if we gift pick 2 to the Pies.
-
There is no way known GWS would not pick up Boyd with pick one or trade that pick unless Dustin left some of the good stuff for them.
-
Cheers 'dee-luded'.

...and the Bombers were after Moloney over the last couple of years, according to some he had signed. Who knows with Col, it could be a load of BS. It certainly doesn't make much sense.
-
A bit of a catch 22 this one but without the expansion clubs that money wouldn't be available. The size of the TV deal hinged on having the extra games and clubs in NSW & Qld. The TV deal like it or not underpins the competition.
-
I thought they let it go too much times but there you go people view things in different ways. I also thought that although Freo missed some shots early that the Hawks were well on top in general play. I think they won the game fair and square. ...and I thought it was a very average game of football.

With Brisbane pulling out will those citing Leppitsch's inside knowledge as a reason to recruit him now understand why we shouldn't.
-
Just check out Jay Clarks player ratings for the GF and you will understand that he doesn't have a clue about the game.
-
...um, I think you are agreeing with me 'dee-luded', you tell me this is where you think I'm wrong then go on and make most of the points I made in my post.
-
...and you think this type of deal would be done before Roos came on board??? do you think Roos would be happy about it unless they gave us Christiansen and Duncan. Can we blame Scwab for this? Sounds like rumour time is really ramping up now, with Facebook and Twitter etc. it gets worse every year.
-
It's not money, it's what we have to give up. Montagna as far as I know is not a FA nor is Del, technically that is. The Saints would want more than we should give, not that we would be looking at them anyway.

I use this term a bit but let me clarify my thinking on it. If a player is 28 plus, I would classify him a pensioner in footy terms and unless he is Fletcher or Harvey he will have limited time at the top level. If you are a team with a shot at the Premiership then you look at pensioners to fix shortfalls in the list e.g.: Hawthorn with Lake this year and North now looking at DelSanto. These types will cost either in money and/or picks but they can get you over the line. If you have a list like ours we need to get some quality experience but can't afford to be giving up too much in the way of picks or trade. It cancels us out of some players (Delsanto, Montagna etc) but we still have the option of looking at someone like Chappy. Bringing in Byrnes and Roden didn't add much, if we are going to bring in pensioners they must be the right guys on and off ground. If we are going to look at picks and trade then we need to be targeting players around 22-25yo. We can't afford to give up too much on pensioners until we have a legitimate shot at the prize.
-
Not necessarily. We can look at it now after a season at VFL level but if he was still playing 18's it might not be so cut and dried. Boyd was seen as the one last year with Hogan expected to go top 5. I'm happy with Hogan though, I think we've done well.
-
Interesting you say that 'master', I thought Freo's forward pressure was average yesterday. Geelong always apply a lot of pressure to Hawthorn's elite kickers from defence, particularly on their lefties, this is why they have a good record in recent times. The game was won from Hawthorn's rebounders being able to set up play down the ground.
-
I would think this is only media speculation about Fyfe. Freo need a tall forward, GWS have a mortgage on Boyd, GWS need some experience and say pick one is up for trade. Do the sums and come up with Fyfe for Boyd. OR...it's just GWS floating the idea. I don't think Freo would do this, it would be a big mistake and unsettle the club however if they did I think Fyfe would be unhappy about being used as a piece of horse flesh and might just put himself on the open market and screw Freo.

I've always thought that, but good luck to him.
