  1. Pretty good reasons not to pick him up I would think.
  2. For the better or for the worse 'steve'? I've been around long enough to see us go down this path before and know that it doesn't work. Judd/Carlton in the end has been a failure, Carlton have a messiah complex that we also have been guilty of. Buddy at Sydney is a different story as he is not coming in as the messiah, but topping up a really good list with added class. Ablett was the cornerstone of building a new team from the ground up. Roos says he is about team and I believe this is how we will go, getting one big fish at this time of our development would be a backward step as good as Fyfe and Dangerfield are. Team first then look at who is available down the track if they can add to the team.
  3. Cross took McCrae last time, Roos obviously rates him so who goes to him this time? Probably Grimes would be my bet. Couldn't see it being Blease, Mitchie or Toumpas.
  4. Think he might be a little like Magner and Couch, a gun VFL player but lacking at senior level. Got a game when Hawks had number of injuries and went ok but just ok.
  5. A bit of a sook when things don't go his way which is often...
  6. We've posted about him before 'Pennant', he looks like he could offer something as that tall ruck/forward option. I notice he kicked, was it 6 a couple of weeks back. How did he go on the weekend? The Eagles seem to be pushing Lycett up ahead of him.
  7. Agree with you 'nut', don't want to go on with it as I think Nev has been good and was good for a greater part of the game. Just an observation. Don't know why he brought it back in either.
  8. I think he got caught out a couple of times, it happens. I reckon one early he thought the ball was going to be out of bounds in the pocket (which it should have) and relaxed for just long enough to come unstuck. As for standing goal side, whichever side he is on I would expect him to have touch with his opponent.
  9. Now where did I say holding him, he was given too much space to work in, some of it from Jetta himself and a lot of it from mids not getting back hard enough. You still need to be more accountable and can't rely on others to block the hole always. To quote you "I said he can turn on a sixpence both ways, so you stay off him a bit and watch the movement" , Sorry but you just don't give him space and that's my point. I'm pretty sure that will come up in the player reviews today, you might want to ask Nev when you talk next. I don't think Nev paid enough respect to Nahas early in the game. As you have stated previously he had to work defence first then bring attack into his game, yesterday he didn't get the balance right early in the game. On the whole I think he was far from our worst, I've enjoyed the way he's gone about his footy and really pleased to see him get a good run at it. On another point, I thought it was good of Nev to call over the trainers as soon as he realised Nahas was in trouble.
  10. Sorry 'Sat', you don't stay off him at all. You need to put body on him and not let him get to the ball, his biggest weakness is he doesn't have the strength to effect a contest. It's when he has ball in hand that he's a problem. He can turn on as many sixpences as he likes if he doesn't have the ball. I do agree that not enough pressure was on from up the ground and North were able to pick out targets at will, but Nev gave him too much space early and didn't pay enough respect. He didn't give Wingard or Betts an inch.
  11. They need to umpire to the rules, simple really. The current umpire bosses, Evans, Campbell and Kennedy under the direction of the AFL are so obsessed with continuos movement that they have screwed the game.
  12. Yep, I noticed the same 'titan'. He needed to back back hard and make a contest but instead left his teammate one out.
  13. Was always worried about this one.
  14. A few more class players into the team will help, bad skills can be contagious. Some catch it when it's going around and improve with a good injection of class. For others unfortunately it's terminal.
  15. Interesting the commentators have picked up on Dawes leading pattern. I really noticed this last week (and it drives me crazy) when his first move is to call the ball long over the back. He is expecting team mates to kick the ball over 60mtrs at times and it's just unrealistic. He needs to lead up to the ball.
  16. Good to know you don't hold a grudge 'Song'.
  17. It would if he wants out unless another club is going to outbid us. Now most of the other clubs around us on the ladder are after KPP's so may be it is enough to get it done.
  18. I think Buckley is doing a great job with his club, he is setting them up well. As for the spray, he lost it a bit there but it does happen.
  19. This is part of the development strategy so whatever way we go some FD $'s will be spent. Apart from the football side of things we seem to have been spread thin in the past trying to develop relationships with the NT, Casey and China.
  20. Tom Mitchel is out injured at the moment 'Saty', that's all it tells me but with you on whoever Roos picks.
  21. 'Redleg', I still don't get why the players are sticking tight with the club and ex coach that screwed them and why they allow the doctor to administer them.
  22. One big problem I see with Blease is that he goes to ground too much. HIs biggest asset is his pace and he takes it out of his game when he hits the deck. He was doing this at AFL level and he still does it in the VFL. Keep your feet Sam and use your run and carry.
  23. ...are you sure he was overlooked in his first draft? I don't think that's right.
  24. Unfair comment, not a captain I get and really not a great leader on the ground but I've seen him get plenty of contested ball over the years. One thing that holds him back is he just doesn't hurt enough with his disposal. Would love to have Delidio running of half back for us, his kicking game would be a bonus. Martin will win their B&F easily. I think they gave it their best shot tonight but they are not good enough. On the coach, I really don't like seeing a coach come down to the bench during the game. They should either start there or stay in the box. It just shows the coach is panicking and has run out of ideas. Those who have read my posts know that I don't rate Hardwick as a match day coach and haven't for a few years now.
