The Royal Scam is one of my favourites, love Carlton's solo on Kid Charlemagne...his best work for me is when playing with 'Dan' and 'The Crusaders', his solo stuff can be bland. The track 'Aja' is the highlight on that album for me.

More than midfield deficiencies 'Adam'. I think the Cats have real problems with defence if the ball is moved in fast. Their key midfielders are downhill skiers and if they don't get on top the Cat's are toast. ...but to your point, I'm not so keen on the superstar signing either. Find someone who compliments the list and grows with us, I think we have a few stars in the making on our list already.

For a minute I thought John McLaughlin was playing with these guys....got the wrong dimension.

2 very disappointing shows are Vinyl & Roadies...some impressive people behind both (Jagger/Scorsese & Cameron Crowe) but total flops. How could they get it so wrong. Not sure if there will ever be a good rock drama on the tele????? Nashville is a good soap & guilty pleasure on Country music.

The great Django, influenced by the "big bang theory"of jazz Louis Armstrong and the pioneer of jazz guitar Eddie Lang. Eddie set it up for Django and Charlie Christian to build a great legacy. Unfortunately they all died quite young and there is very limited video available, non of Charlie Christian. Amazing what he does with 2 fingers and a couple of stumps (ex - fingers)...

Can be very annoying if an acoustic act is on... Crowds mature in age but often not in manners.

I always thought it was a pity she didn't do her walk of atonement.

Well...a few of the questions have been answered. Jon & Daenerys are very close... No white walkers yet but winter isn't coming, it's here. The sand snakes are back and good to see, so that's what Varys has been up to. Tyrion may not have to worry about his brother. Arya's back and has a few more on her list. No castle for Bron yet, somethings else on his plate and the hound is still out there wondering around Now we wait to see what happens next year.

No, and my partner declined (she knows the guys in the band and their manager drummer from Extreme in a previous life) although there were still plenty who did... Amazing what people will do.

Can't post any Steel Panther video's given the 'G' rated nature of the site but did enjoy them at Festival Hall on Saturday night...very PC incorrect but at least you know what you are getting into. After a prompt...the crowd sang a couple of verses of Community Property before the band came in. They go a bit over the top but they are a very good band when you strip it back to the music... Pity, but I don't think they will be invited to do the AFL GF.

Lovely fingers though 'nut bean'.... Interesting story from Bob Bain who was the guitar player.... “When the date was over the contractor (Phil Coggin) came over and said ‘Bobby, you stay.’ The whole orchestra left and I’m sitting around. Hank said ‘Why don’t you go over to Nick’s. We won’t need you for another half hour. All you’ll need is your gut string (guitar).’ I figured that they wanted me to play a little background music or something. When I came back, Audrey Hepburn was in the studio. The studio had been darkened and the only people there were the engineer in the booth, the producer (Blake Edwards), Hank, and an assistant in the booth to run the tape machine. They had told everybody else to essentially get lost. Audrey did not want to sing with a big orchestra. She wanted to record ‘Moon River’ with just guitar and voice. She was so nice and very easy to accompany. She was really a good singer, too…. She made one take and we went in the booth to listen to it. Hank asked her if she thought she could do it one more time and she agreed. We did a second take and that was it. Then Hank took that track (with just guitar and voice) and overdubbed strings. In the picture, the first sixteen bars has Audrey in a window or a doorway singing ‘Moon River’ with just guitar and then the orchestra sneaks in. It ended up with this really nice orchestration.”

Really interested to find out what Varys is up to on his secret mission... Is there a connection with Jon Snow & Daenerys? I think there is. When do the white walkers come over the wall? All quiet in Dorn...I miss the sand snakes What happens when and if Tyrion comes up against his brother...who choses who? What part does the Hound play now? When & where does Arya connect? Will Bron get his castle? Lots of dots to connect........ I think the next series will sort out the iron throne and then we will get serious with the whites....

Could White be the backup for Nev 'Angry'?
  14. Losing Frawley left a hole in the backline that needs to be fixed. Was always going to happen and I'm sure (I hope) the FD could see it coming...hopefully they have it in hand. As you say it's a big need for us in the offseason.
  15. Jack was being beaten...Jack was the one crying on the weekend. They sucked him in...still a lot to learn before he becomes a true leader. What Jack did was a sign of what the team did all day. At least he came back later in the game and did what he should have done in the first place...
  16. ...be interesting to hear Whateley's take on it tonight. He's been one of the systems biggest critics, I hope the AFL don't get to him first.
  17. Yep, that's exactly what's going on and it's what's being exploited. Players are so good with their hands these days that you need to stop them giving it off quickly, the method being used is to take an arm or arms out of action. This means you are opening yourself up to tackling higher for someone prepared to slip the tackle... The crack down on dangerous tackles has also had an effect on how the players are now being coached to tackle. I think the AFL need to act on the player drawing the tackle but in the meantime I think our players should be taught to tackle harder and lower into the body which will force the player with the ball off balance and put the ball at minimum back into dispute and at best draw an incorrect disposal. The rugby approach putting your shoulder into the tackle means you take them off the ball, it's not a dangerous tackle according to the rules and it takes the wind out of your opponent. They won't want to lift their arms to give off to much if they keep getting belted in the guts, it's a bit like the boxer softening up his opponent with body punches...
  18. The rule change was about a player ducking and using his head to charge into the opposition player like some kind of battering ram, I think the umps have gone a bit easy on this one but that's another story. That's not what this guy is doing, he's exploiting the rule and drawing the free kick, he's not staging, the free kick is there. It's up to the AFL to change the rule or for coaches to get their players to tackle lower and harder. Not his fault and not cheating, some of the current greats do it. As someone pointed out, Selwood...but recently heard a magpie talking about how Pendles trains to do it. Do I like it? No...reminds me a bit of Bartlett when I was a kid, the then VFL changed the rule. Time to act AFL? Yes..
  19. Lyon/Goodwin, Shortened Career (travel factor)/Healthy Career (home of footy), Struggling Team on rebuild/Exciting Team on the way up, Great Money/Great Money.... I think the extra pressure that is being applied will force his hand and he will sign soon, it's already effecting his form. He just doesn't recognise it yet... If he doesn't, we move on...

An AFL player should never be forgiven for that...how long have they both been playing and how many reviews would have Dunn seen of Chaplin let alone played him (not necessarily position). Surely he should know which foot he kicks off. I like Lyndon in the team but he was poor early against the Tiges, I thought he redeemed himself as the game went on.

Found it.... Love this version of the band.
  22. He was our most important player today... ...a bit quiet in the 2nd half (spent some time on the bench and at HF) but he & Kennedy are the ones that got things rolling again in the last Q.
  23. Still roll this one out for a listen every now and then. I liked this version of the band best with Tim Gaze on guitar... Now...what was this thread about??? Clayton Oliver, not sure about 'Fence' and his dream state but we've got a beauty here. Apart from his aggression, vision etc. I really love how the ball seems attracted to his fingers, his touch on the footy, it's like a magnet. The ball seems to drawn into his hand.

Question????? Watching a tribute on RAGE for Jon English and Ross Hannaford early this morning... There are some clips that I just can't find on youtube, on the Hanna tribute their was one with Paul Hester that's a ripper... ...and a couple of months ago there was a live clip of the early pre Neil "Split Enz" doing a live version of "Stranger then Fiction". I really loved that pre Neil band probably more than the Neil band. Not knocking Neil though, I had a lot of time for Crowded House. Does anyone know where you can get these clips or at least get to see them again???

Hendrix really rated Terry Kath (the guitarist you are talking about). I loved this version of the band but couldn't stand the versions post Kath, fell asleep in their show at the bowl...so bland. Kath accidentally shot himself unfortunately. Seem to remember a story of playing Russian roulette.
