  1. 'stuie', as you probably know this is a typical Roos snow job. I guess we wouldn't expect him to say anything different but according to a poster (couldn't find the post) after the draft & trade night the club ran when asked about the Melksham trade he was told that the club believe & AFL advice is if found guilty the players will only get a short suspension. No matter which way you paint it the club was caught with it's pants down on this one, it was a punt taken based on a false belief. Now we can only help that Melksham repays the faith in the final 3 years of his contract but will he be mentally shot. Who knows...
  2. I think one thing is for sure and that is the players will consult with their managers and the PA at a minimum in the future and that phrases like "cutting edge" should automatically raise a red flag. I still find it hard to believe no player from the EFC raised this program with their managers or the PA though 'stuie' but if they didn't then the club did a very good sell and the peer group pressure must have been huge. There is nothing new in todays decision but at least in the future players should finally realise they are not above the laws and the AFL &/or their clubs cannot always bail them out. Personal responsibility is a phrase that resonates with me.
  3. I think the club need to make a statement on the recruiting of Melksham. The only word from the club I remember seeing was a post from one of the supporters evenings where the club were of the view that even if found guilty the players would only receive a very short suspension. The club have really been very professional in the PJ years and I'm really thankful that he's running the club and has all the right pieces in place. I do think however they dropped the ball on this one and didn't think it through being too caught up in the AFL hype.
  4. It's early days as you say 'Dee' so we will know more after the break but from what little I've seen he hasn't looked out of place. He's a competitor that's one thing for sure...
  5. Probably longer ago except for the fact that the club was ruined by incompetent management from the board down. No one is expecting Clayton Oliver or Sam Weideman to drag us out of the s...., this has already started but these kids will add to the structure that has now been started. I will be disappointed if we don't move into the 6 - 12 region of the ladder next season and I think only injury will hold us back.
  6. Nah mate, they're all going to be champions of the game. A few Charlie's and AA honours in that lot...
  7. I think they will rotate up and back, at different times both plus Petracca will be out of the square.
  8. Thought I should get back to your original point 'ILL', Weideman is a good size already and will be a real handful when he adds a bit more strength and fitness. I like the look of him.CP5...really looking forward to watching him.
  9. This his biz is slipping in all over the place now 'Clint', not really that fond of the idea.
  10. I like that he's prepared to take the tackle and clear space for a teammate then give off the ball.
  11. As 'ProDee' says they compliment each other. Viney is great at hitting up the packs and oppo players but Tyson is the extractor and smarter around the clearances, I think many underestimate his strength in a contest.
  12. Put the ball in a pack and Tyson would be the extractor.
  13. When Cook was interviewed in his first year he went along the lines of taking his time and developing at Casey...didn't happen. Weideman's first interview he says he's aiming to play senior footy this year, he said one game would be great but he's not setting limits...I like his attitude. Given an injury free run I would expect to see him lining up some time in 2016.
  14. I love that he's aiming to play AFL in his first year, as he says the sky's the limit.
  15. We wait and see 'Munga'...we are now in the honeymoon period and won't get an idea until the games start rolling around. It may be a few years until we get a reasonable assessment of the strategy... Doubtful
  16. This clip gave a better view of him, as we have had a couple of bulls in Moloney and Silvia with little and no awareness his earlier highlight clips didn't show enough. The kid looks to have good awareness and is not afraid to bring teammates into the game or take it on where appropriate.
  17. Tyson is our best inside mid.

If you have a look at this kids quick decision making and ball use, you get the Mitchell comparison. ...but yes Mitchell is a freak and it would be asking a lot of anyone to come up to his standard.
  19. That's ok but the others in the top end of this draft have been on the radar for a few years now, Oliver has made a late run. Is this good or bad?
  20. ...and a month or so back he was outside the top 10. Who would have guessed.
  21. Neither are mutually exclusive...
  22. It has to be a concern, I'm sure we will do our homework...
  23. I'm not making any comparisons, just saying that McKenzie was a competitor. I don't think that can be denied. Wines is much more than a competitor, Oliver may or may not be, McKenzie was pretty much only a competitor. If we take Oliver, being a competitor will only be one part of the reason...
