Pretty sure he said similar last year after we got Hibberd then up bobbed Lewis... Never say never.

There's another side to the story here 'A F'... My argument is not about barracking for Jack but is more along the lines of is it the right move for the MFC. I think that's a fair question and argument to have.

Probably could take into account the games he missed, around 6... Just stating he finished 21st needs that qualifier.

2017 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy
rjay replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was so refreshing to hear Clayton's speech... He actually sounded like a kid of his age should. I'm so sick of the young kids turned out by the AFL sausage machine, they all sound the same, spout the same BS. Good on you kid, you're a champ. -
We don't need to trade in depth now...

I posted something a while back in reference to a Max Gawn trade about Brian 'the whale' Roberts... He was a very well liked player at the tiges when they moved him on to "better their list". KB says it's one of the worst moves made in his time at the club... You've got to be careful to not destabilise things when moving on a player who is part of the fabric of the club. Watts is a very well liked player and seems to get on with everyone, players and supporters alike. He mightn't be everyones cup of tea as a player but he is part of the fabric of the club, a player who appears to bond the playing group off the field. If I was a player at Melbourne I would be looking at this now and forgetting about all the carp Lewis and others have been taking about building a culture and taking unders, I would be looking after myself. I'm sure Connors will be reinforcing this with Petracca when the time comes. So, Hogan has every right to look at his future if he doesn't like the way a mate is being treated. We can talk professionalism in modern sport as much as we like but we are still dealing with people. It's still very much a people business. Is it really worth rocking the boat for a 2nd round pick at best? Goodwin is a gambler and I'm not sure this is a good punt. Will he end up Blight (a true visionary) or Neeld (another failed Melbourne coach)? It's not only his coaching on the line here it's our club, our future and I know a lot of us have a lot on the line as supporters. Time will tell but this is an uneasy time for me.

Doing it on the big stage, helping his team win when it counts. He's one of their biggest downhill skiers... He stood up in a final against Port this year but his record is not good.
-
If he's playing 2nd fiddle to Kersten and McCarthy, neither of who are a KPF's bootlace then he's going nowhere fast.
-
...and thats why we don't trade. No point trading out quality and bringing in a borderline player unless the long game is to bring in Lynch.
-
Lynch is the only one I would consider for Hogan and I couldn't care less if GCS tumble down because of it... If we lose Hogan that's who we go after.
-
24yo who's done nothing, zilch with his career to date. Why??? Keep the lid on tight boys... ...and why would we want Darling? a perennial under achiever.
-
I would look to rookie one of these if their are no better options, we do need some experienced back up.
-
Thurlow, yes... Stanley can't play, no way.

Let me...I first raised McRae in this thread a while back when it was hitting the fan at the Doggies, people were talking Stringer and Gaff's name was being thrown around. ...but it was not a serious rumour more the type of player I would love us to have and I can't imagine the Doggies letting him go. Still young, played junior footy with Viney (right age profile). A good outside mid, who gets a lot of ball and uses it pretty well (getting better with more experience). Not afraid to get his own ball, a good blend of inside and out and that's what I like in a so called outside mid..not lightning but quick and clever enough.

How about Tippett for Watts as a straight swap?
rjay replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
None of these players has any currency. I doubt any will be picked up by another club but maybe Jack will get a shot, rookie most likely and no one trades in a rookie. -
Blicavs is a man without a position... ...has his moments but doesn't excel at any.
-
Yes, but you don't expect the employer to blab about it all over the media or on social media in the case of you not being a footballer. Even if Jack puts out his viewpoint you don't have to answer back, you take the higher ground. We (fans & public) don't have to be clear on what the situation is...Jack does and that's why they have end of season interviews which I would expect to be confidential.
-
This is the main bit I have a problem with... It should be between Jack and the FD (Coach) and not for public consumption. What they are doing is tying to justify themselves, they should be secure enough in their decision to not need public backing. There was also no need to hang Jack out to dry.
-
I don't think you can argue with the facts 'hardtack', they are there for all to see. However the premise about his leadership is arguable and as you say the last line. The gambling and his time at EFC. These things have always concerned me and his decision making has not always been solid. Lets hope he's truly learned. ...but, I don't like the way this is playing out in the media at all.
-
I would have preferred we used the Neil Balme approach. I don't discuss player contracts, and stick to it. It's just one step up from no comment...

Plus there are a few good Adelaide boys in next years draft...
