So long as they don't give Lever number 31 I will be happy...

The first game back syndrome... It seems a lot of players can build themselves up for the first game back then drop off and struggle in the next...in all clubs, I've noticed it happen a bit over time. Not sure why this is.

I'm aware of the history 'Mc'...and I have enjoyed the practice in the past. It's something I would like to get back to. However, my point is more about the profit merchants and I notice you've alluded to them as well in your post. Mindfullness has become a bit of a buzz word unfortunately and a lot seem to be jumping on the bandwagon and making spurious claims. Keeping the tills ticking over. It's a pity really...

I think (maybe that's the problem) that like many things mindfulness has taken a life of it's own. ...and been moved away from what it really is/was... As Frank Zappa once said... "… There was nothin' his box won't do With the oil of aphrodite, and the dust of the grand wazoo He said you might not believe this, little fella But it'll cure your asthma too…"

Kent needs to play good consistent pressure football... Injuries haven't helped his cause but to date he has been a lazy player who picks and chooses. His set shot kicking is a real liability. Very one sided and doesn't seem to posses any real weapons. So far he has been over rated by many on minimal performance...lucky to be on the list. Make or break year for him.

Preseason Training - Week commencing 6/11/17

These things can be a little like the old rah rah & rev ups the coaches used to give players before the game...all show and no go. I'm not convinced it really means much or is of much benefit. From what I hear our boys have been working up some pretty hard sessions whilst on their break here and O/s... Time out may be more valuable with a big season ahead. -

Look and you shall find 'Petrac'... Thanks for the update 'stevetheman'. -
The last bolter we got (Oliver) turned out to be pretty good. If we get this kid lets hope for a similar result...

If you look back at last years pre season pics you will see he was pretty well developed then...it's not an 8 week occurrence but a work in progress. -

I think he would be better employing mindfulness rather than go on another mindless commando camp...I hope that's done with. -

Surely the club has sent an email out to members, or it's at least on the website... At the risk of upsetting 'Sat'...the club really do need to engage better with the membership. -
I would think Lever, Viney and Oliver have a long way to go to reach their potential. No way are they fully formed players yet...
-
Sloane, Danger, Fyfe tick a few of those boxes...none are great kicks but they seem to go ok.
-
He keeps his body in line with the ball though 'Skuit' and does keep his feet...that's a big plus.
-
Robert Flower...

Matt Crouch was the best kid at reading the ball off the rucks at bounce downs and throw ins during his junior carnival... I thought he slipped a bit too far in the draft but then again I hadn't seen anything else of him apart from these games.

I'm not too, to, 2, two concerned...

Any Chance Jake Spencer back to MFC as Rookie?
rjay replied to Umpire Please's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's been on the list for what, 9 years now. I would think that's more than ample opportunity. I will raise your rubbish and call BS on your good team management post...he is a VFL ruckman at best. -
I think it's a bit early to talk non-renewals... The way the season finished left a bad taste but I'm sure the diehards will be back once the dust has settled (for all the BS being talked) and membership will take a big jump as we head for finals and top 4 is in sight. I've been in no hurry to renew but will soon enough.
-
No, I think that would be a reasonable outcome....just concerned about the other game, that's all.
-
You obviously believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy 'steve'... Give it a break. How did Carlton earn it?
-
Comprehension problem there 'Dee'????
-
Agree; the only players we should look at in this age group now, if at all are real leaders like Cross and Lewis and he's very much not that.
-
I would be more inclined to talk strengths and weaknesses not focus on what his number 1 asset is and you seem to have agreed in your last post.. 'stevetheman' seems a bit preoccupied by this number 1 asset thing too. As a young player he seems to have something to work with, he reads the ball quite well, sometimes spoils or marks well, other times doesn't get it right...he panics sometimes with the ball in hand and other times uses quite well. At the moment I see a young tall defender with some promise who is still a ways off. A bit more strength and experience and he may well be a player.
