  1. Probably more appropriate in this thread...
  2. "I caught up with Nat and Ross last year in the case of a random trade and the way they were talking with a bit of a five-year plan, it kind of aligned with where I was at,” Hogan said. β€œThen this year we had further conversations about it with a bit more depth and they aligned with where I was at. β€œI agreed with what Nat and Ross were saying so the natural pull to Freo was on the back of those conversations.” After reading that I hope Goody & Jack have been sitting down & having a chat with young Cera & talking a bit of a 5 year plan & aligning where he's at...then we can have further conversations with a bit more depth next trade period and get him onboard in 2020...

Well until we start training it's over for footy... This is the worst period of the year for me as footy gets taken over by racing, some weird pastime people continue to call a sport for some unknown reason. A more pointless pursuit I cannot think of. Can anyone tell me when we're back on the track? It will be a bit later this year because of our finals appearances, how strange is that. Bring on season 2019...and to think some want to shorten the season, must have rocks in their heads.
  4. If Max doesn't have to push back deep, which he shouldn't with May and Lever in the team it gives us a good let out kick from defence with him sitting around HB/Centre/Wing....
  5. I'd like to know why he's not getting a lot of the ball... Feel for the game I think is not so easy to teach. You either have it or you don't. ...but there could be other reasons as you say.
  6. On very minimal watching him it appears the idea of Toby Bedford is better than Toby Bedford. I mean, we really could do with a small forward with pace and x factor but he just doesn't get enough of the footy at the moment or hit the scoreboard. This was also a problem for Dion Johnson who we've just delisted...
  7. ...and he can get it, run fast and kick it well 'steve', that's got to be a good thing. We not only get May and Pruess but also Oliver with 2 new shoulders. I thought the odd tackle was slipping toward the end of the season.
  8. β€œThere’s only two scenarios: He’s either a very good actor, or he’s going to stay,” Scott told SEN’s Whateley.
  9. Mahoney doesn't seem like the type to waste his time on pointless games. We could have played harder at the trade table & had an unhappy Hogan with us next season. As you say winning a flag is hard, too hard to be carrying a kid who is going through a lot & doesn't want to be there. I'm not sure he is very clear on what he wants but that's for Ross to sort out now. As an aside, it's going to be interesting to see how Geelong go with Tim Kelly. They played it hard & the coach even called him out as being as a Scully. I have a feeling that it might all end in tears.
  10. I don't buy this line of argument...I've seen it posted by a few people on here and it just doesn't hold up. Whether Mahoney spoke the words or not the hand was sitting on the table for all to see. Even "Blind Freddie" could see that the Hogan & May deals were intertwined. You think Freo couldn't see it?
  11. We didn't sell the farm, we just brought our premiership aspirations a year closer...
  12. I don't understand how he wins... Made a big song and dance on Friday about pulling out of the Hogan deal and ended up paying what was offered on the Friday. Not much changed except for Bell doing a 180...
  13. Pretty much as I expected... Stirred things up a bit and now off into the sunset he goes... Bye 'RR', can't say it's been fun but it's been
  14. Please leave 'RR' on until at least the trade period has finished 'Demonland'. It's going to be priceless to see the reaction if he's proven wrong...
  15. I know I might not be living in the real world but I would hope Jesse has a bit more respect for our club than that. I don't know him but I don't think he would play that game and throw s.... in the face of the people who have stuck by him through some tough times. ...but you might know him well and this is the expected outcome.

How did their bargain buy for O'Rourke work out? This is a pure punt...he played like a busted because he just might be one in football terms. The Hawks don't always get it right, add the other Garlett to the mix...they get plenty wrong and now are punting harder to stay in the race as the Cats have done recently.
  17. I totally understand your point 'steve', but..... Those picks can be traded, a single pick 5 for Hogan will be unders. A pick in the 20's got us Hibberd so it is of value. We can't just let Hogan go for pick 5 even if it gets us May. Forget KK, he can be picked up with another deal (late pick or future next year) and only muddies the waters in this discussion making us feel good about trading 5 for May. Hogan has a higher value and we should extract that. The difference could be us as a top 4 finisher never to quite make it or as a premiership team. Pick 5 and Langdon would be a good outcome or pick 5 and another pick we could use for another player.
  18. Sorry @joeboy 'EnterTheDragon' - Prolific but wasteful
  19. I think this has become a "Chinese Whisper'" 'old dee'.... My take was that Watson was trying to figure out why Freo had pulled out of the Jessie deal. He thought that maybe they were running scared after the Bennell trade, they were jumping at shadows. For those taking potshots at Watson (an easy target) I didn't hear him as saying Hogan was like Bennell at all, just that he couldn't understand why they wouldn't want to get Hogan over the line. Like many of us he is a bit perplexed at the way they have handled things.
  20. Just wondering if we've had a conversation with Davis... Seeing as GWS seem to be dumping players due to salary cap I'm sure we've at least had a chat. I rate Davis as the best real key defender in the game, doesn't get the love he deserves.
  21. He's got another 3 gears in him 'bub'... I think a few are underrating how good a 23yo who has missed a couple of years of footy will be. I know you don't like statistical comparisons but maybe an interesting maturity comparison is Jack Reiwoldt who was a petulant, sulking, selfish player at a similar age. We're not losing Jack Watts here, this is a serious talent. We need to be well compensated if he moves on.
  22. I don't understand why we don't just delist him... It's obvious on your reading that the kid can't play.
  23. Nice story 'GNF'. Up there with Little Red Riding Hood & a few other tall tales. Make it plausible by using North, they're throwing cash around like confetti. Problem is their offers are for free agents and out of contract players. Oliver is neither. Olivers vague connection to North is that they are an AFL team & he is an AFL player. It didn't make the media because it didn't happen. I have no doubt when Oliver's next contract is due he will get some very large to massive offers and we will need to take good care of him.
  24. It surprise me we haven't yet heard from even more dumbest, Hardie. This is right up his alley...
  25. I'm leaning towards that as well but if it doesn't happen so be it. I just think the off field stuff muddies the waters and all that talk is related to Freo withdrawing their bid whether you mentioned it or not. It's the only reason it's now being discussed. If I posted pretty reliable information I've had on a few clubs/players along with some high profile people well it's not going to happen. That's why I get annoyed with the innuendo, I mean I just added to it but truthfully what off field issues these days effect a players performance unless they are a total basket case and I don't think Jesse falls into this category. Langdon & Nixon are not worth quoting...
