  1. Richo is a great get...I had hoped we would pick him up when the Saints were making life hard for him. Forget his senior record, not all coaches excel in the senior role. Richo is a very, very highly regarded assistant. For the new sayers on here, you seriously have no idea...
  2. Agree 'Diamond'. It's really effected our depth, particularly this season with the added injuries.
  3. They can't of been approved yet 'Nev'... In the end it's a commission decision and they don't meet until after the season. They haven't always gone along and rubber stamped Gill's wishes either. Not saying they won't get it, just that it hasn't been approved.
  4. Like St Kilda did with McEvoy... Stupid move and left them devoid of leadership and ruck talent.
  5. Heard the same from someone close to the club...
  6. I don't know why you think comparing 3 mids who have had a great season to a forward who has the odd run through the middle. It just doesn't stand up... How many forwards have won a Brownlow? It's a much easier position to dominate and get noticed.

Thanks 'Ethan', you never fail to deliver. Needed a good laugh tonight...
  8. I think both their playing days are well over 'ra'... ...but the way we've been going they couldn't do a whole lot worse.
  9. May is a very, very good backman...
  10. We're not talking about the off spin bowler here 'old'... May is an A grader, has struggled to get on the park but if he does (and should with a solid preseason) next year will push for AA.
  11. You are way off the mark with Petracca 'Bombay'... He has ben good in an otherwise lacklustre forward half. If we need him to be a superstar you are probably right but if we need a good player then he is it. Rather than superstar I expect him to step up to A grade for his position. He's the least of our problems.

He's a bit late on that news 'dazzle'... ...but seriously the Saints have been into him since he was drafted & probably before.
  13. This is the biggest positive of the year so far for me...
  14. How did Jordon look today 'dazzle'? Did he play mid or back?

Of course, you're right 'Mach'...but what if he is the problem? I'm not saying he is, but I would like to see every angle looked at after a season like this one. I just hope we're on the right track here. Yet again we've been in the football wilderness and just when it looked like we had turned the corner we get season 2019.
  16. Thanks for the reports and posts over the years 'Drunkn'...we've all appreciated not just the information but the entertaining & passionate way you have presented it. Pass on regards to Dec I'm sure we all appreciate what he has done. Not many can say they've played at the highest level and it's great achievement be it one game or 400. How many of us wish we had the talent to say we had played VFL let alone AFL.
  17. I will support a club that values me as a member. I don't think it's smart to just follow anything with blind loyalty. If they are open, listen to members views and take action then they get my money. If they try to deflect & not take the hard questions at the AGM then they lose me.

Next season will be wasted if we don't learn and move forward. We can't afford to wait...Bartlett can check his ego at the door and get a review under way.

We will never know if he's the one reviewing his own performance.
  20. I would love a President like what Ian Dicker was to Hawthorn. Someone with business smarts, with the club at heart, ego checked at the door & who mixes with the fans...
  21. I think we will see a change 'Leoncelli'...I just hope they don't take the easy way and make it a Gawn/Viney co captain situation. It's Max time...sole captain. Make the hard call club...
  22. Maybe some players think it but I doubt it is the reality. I just think handing him the captaincy was very poor judgement on Goodwin's behalf. My opinion here from observation & 2nd hand information is that he is extremely focussed & a lot of players don't relate to that. He may not have the emotional IQ that good leaders need.
  23. He's been playing like it 'dazzle', that and the continued whinging to the umpires. He's got a big AA head after last year... I don't blame him, how can he be playing ruck. At least he gave a f....
  24. Take him off at half time and straight into surgery. Seriously, I hope he doesn't miss any preseason...
  25. We hear the word culture thrown around a lot in football circles. This club has a great culture, this club doesn't, this is a real culture changer. I've probably been guilty in using it myself in these terms. I reality, well my reality at least football is a big part of my culture, I like many grew up with it, played it and love it. Culture is the game itself and it's place in society - it's kicking the ball on the street for hours on end with your mates. - it's playing kick to kick at school during lunch breaks with 20 up each end and everyone trying to take a hanger. - it's community footy, playing with your mates at the local club. - it's watching your heroes in the big league and if your lucky and talented enough it's getting to play there yourself. - it's the stories of past glory; at any level these stories exist not just the big league. Go to any past players event at any club and the history is so rich. - it's the mates you make along the way, lifetime friendships. - it's standing in the rain, it's playing in the mud. It's sometimes hard to explain to others but for many it brings our country together. Australian rules is such a unique game, it's our game and we all experience it in our own way. Seeing the film clip attached today really brought it home to me. Look at the joy these men experience in running out to play the game on foreign soil, some never to play again. Please excuse my indulgence... Cheers, Rjay
