  1. Something doesn't feel right. Why would Pert reach out to Geelong, a club without the draft capital and salary cap space to make it a viable option. Just as an example - Richmond, North and Eagles makes more sense!
  2. As to the Northern Academy's, if they didn't exist then talented players don't get to train and play with/against enough good players to improve (at the same rate as AFL states). E.g In Melbourne there could be hundreds of kids (majority of a team) who can kick a ball properly on the run at the age of 13/ 14, providing greater opportunity to enhance their marking skills (can't practice marking the ball, if it doesn't get to you). This means these Victorian's are getting exposed to more complicated and better training drills far earlier than their Northern Counterparts (without the academies). Even at the 18s Victorian's train and play at the Coates league level for the entire season, while the Nortern Academy's get a handful of games in April/May. Then back to uncompetitive club football. What a lot of people don't understand is without the Northern Academy's, these players won't get the necessary development to be drafted, or at best be drafted late or as rookies. Consequently the 4 Northern clubs would have to pick more of the best Victorian, SA and WA kids - diluting the pool further for the other clubs.
  3. Having more good players in the academy lifts the standards and the quality of the academy (other participants) - so there's still benefits of him being there.
  4. In the bargain bin - is Owies, but it's not a bargain if we don't use it (we do have a few forward flankers already).
  5. Significant improvement is not going to come from other clubs discards! Yes a bargain can be found, but the majority are at best maintaining the status quo or on the decline (they are discarded for a reason). We need to identify and target the good players, regardless of contract i.e. Gegordies, Callaghan, Miller, Brayshaw, Reid, Flanders, McCluggage, Rowbortom, Hewett, etc Clubs like Brisbane, GC, Blues have more potential top end talent coming in, so shake the tree and see if a quality midfielder falls out - we should have the cash to make things interesting (or as North did with us/Viney tighten our salary cap to help future raids)
  6. I'm struggling to remember, but Mackin Chaplin Zanker Campbell MacNamara Heath
  7. An easier draw can also reduce the wear and tear on players (opposition intensity and maturity not as high) and can help build confidence (young players and out of form).
  8. We should be advantaged by a far essier easier draw, for as a bottom 6 side we should play 2 of the bottom 4 twice and one at worse 2 top 8 sides. I'm predicting Richmond (due to Anzac eve game) and West Coast. We are likely to volunteer for (Adelaide/Port again in gather round.) so expect the Crows as a double up Then it's two of the next group outside the 8 - we host Collingwood this QB so they're likely to be one ( plus the AFL likes a potential drama story) which would leave one of the lower ranked teams - I'm expecting Gold Coast but would prefer the Saints. Lastly two sides in the 8 (1 from top 4) probably Port or GWS for the Alice game And then bulldogs, though as we have potentially a lot of interstate double-ups, we'll likely request a bigger club (for crowd revenue) so perhaps carlton or Essendon. Tigers, Eagles, Crows, Pies, Suns, Port, Bulldogs double ups: In theory this is as hard as the draw should get. But it could easily be Tigers, Eagles, Suns, Saints, Dockers, Pies, Hawks
  9. Hore Mackin Gold Macca Gillard Pearce
  10. This could be very easily gamed: Come to us, we'll help set you up with a social media profile which our members (and broader supporters) will help support (subscribe to). If each member subscribed at $10 a year that can easily translate to over a million dollars; note with more subscribers the advertising dollars increase exponentially. In the future you'd only want to play for the Pies, Tigers and Eagles!!!
  11. How many presidents (of organisations/companies) or CEO's contact general staff for injury, trauma, we'll being etc. I've gone through a traumatic ordeal in the last couple of years far far greater than what he's been through and only my boss reached out to provide support. And by boss I mean direct manager, and their boss; not the top tier executive!
  12. This could potentially set a very bad precedent, one which the AFL don't want and can't handle. Players requesting trades to improve their brand (earning potential) that is provided by the clubs with bigger supporters bases. It's outside the salary cap, but an obvious enticement and reward for playing for said club. These clubs could even promote (sell it) to the extent players take a reduced salary knowing they have 100,000 members subscribing to their site!
  13. On the nuclear option this is a very risky choice as it goes both ways. ALL relevant facts from both parties will need to be tabled and investigated, and then the most likely outcome would be to force a trade to address the grievance (a bottom. 4 club will meet this). The trade only needs to satisfy the grievance, not the want!
  14. Note, so much of "the media" is just them opinionating and speculating; ironically promoting their own brand. It should not be given that its Trac's thought process; i.e. the nuclear option.
  15. Has anyone considered what effect Brayshaw no longer being at the club has had on him, the culture, etc. Is it true they've been mates since juniors. Maynard (hit) - the gift that keeps on giving
  16. Rule of thumb (trading), it costs more (than market value) to extract a contracted player! Note threat of free agency can't be used ad bargaining.
  17. Any potential trade can only be done on a "to good to refuse offer" i.e Reid and a first round; as the club also needs to make a stance on honouring contracts - otherwise this will happen year after year; to the extent of other clubs actively targeting our contracted players.
  18. Note 2 of the last 3 premiers have not included big name forwards, they can be won without them. It's midfield (always has been) where the quality is needed, then a strong backline. Note despite the personnel, our midfield has been getting beaten by the top sides for a couple of years now.
  19. Talk of McKay is rubbish, it's all one sided to Carlton as he's expendable they have Curnow, TDK and other talls. With Petracca leaving our midfield stocks drop to being our biggest weakness (by some margin). Bringing McKay feels similar to when we brought Chris Dawes in.
  20. Starting point - Trac is worth at least 3 first round picks comprising a minimu. 2 top 10 (1 being in the first 5). Any players involved bust would only replace 1 of these picks.
  21. Go Saints, Pick 5 would be nice!!
  22. Gawn Picket Tmac Langdon Rivers Turner + note not saying they are all in the "best", but at least not in the worst!
  23. And 6 months ago no one thought there was a chance of another club getting Trac!
  24. IF Trac was to go, it would have to be for a generational mudfielder i.e. Reid. Note we have already lost a top talent in Brayshaw for no return (draft). Our midfield currently is that of a bottom 8 side (declining Oliver, Aging Viney and inexperienced flankers learning the trade). Trac is worth 3 first round picks (2 top 10) or 2 top 10 picks and an A grader. With these you'd go to West Coast and offer 3 first rounders for Reid (plus all the money saved from Braushaw and Trac). A quick rebuild of the club around Reid would have us challenging for a flag within 2 years!
  25. So if his brand (publicity) is so important to him. Then He's done a great job to be in the headlines, while not playing footy Or Saying anything!!!!!
