Tom McDonald 200th game this week?
I was coached from a very young age to always mark to he ball on the goal line, or Shepherd it through if an oppo player was close. I still coach the same thing. The one time I didn't follow the instruction was in a representative game where the ball bounced on the line went straight up over my head then back towards goal on second bounce clipping the post on the way. If this happened to Tmac, everyone would be screaming at him for letting it go!!! As for awareness, you eyes are on the ball first, periphery is then for other players who could impact the play, then goal posts, and lastly a line on the ground!!! Note just letting the ball bounce through, is often enough for a back running full speed to touch it, should it be a slow bounce. I seem to recall our backs save many a goal by not giving up on a certain goal.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
Therefore if fit BBB on for Weid (He knew the deal, the taste and confidence gained should spur him on even more) If fit Lever in for hunt/tomilson depending on matchups.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
When the ball goes into the forward line only one of the six can be a target (kick the goal). Considering Max, Jacko, Trac, Sparrow, Oliver and even Langdon also bob up regularly in the forward line, then opportunity lessen even more. 15 goals is normally the high end of what is expected from a team and with the midfield normally kicking 5+, Fritz and BBB/Weid kicking 5+, that doesn't leave a lot for the remaining forwards .So it's more about what else they bring, and currently they are all contributing to a functioning system. Tmac covers a lot of ground (tiring opposition, creating space behind him) - he often blocks third up defenders, and will crash into packs, then there's often a deft little tap or bump in the middle of congestion. Pickets pressure is getting to the point that he's achieving it by mere presence; though he could move towards the ball a little more. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - we were a couple of points of a 100, playing ugly and kicking poorly!!!

Look at the scoring shots difference, consider the penalty count, and note the outs (particularly at short notice - Salem included); and that gives a true reflection of our dominance!

Bevo unleashes on Tom Morris
All AFL coaches (even juniors) have to complete a mental health component as part of their registration. This includes player welfare (harrassment) and privacy. Anyone working in any form of education, welfare and community work also knows it is impediment that a persons mental health condition is strictly confidential (unless covered by mandatory reporting obligations i.e indicating they will do self harm or a serious crime). His treatment of hunter with the very public, selection mindgames; is pushing the boundaries of grey regarding player welfare (mental health) and his inference that Hunter is suffering mental health, even if he is not, is plain out the wrong thing to do. That is a suspendable offence. It needs to be taken seriously, as it sets a very bad precedent (at all levels of coaching).

Jackson is still rusty. Bedford as sub is a tactical error considering we went in on be back short.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
Who played wing tonight? It seemed we tried a lot of different combinations and none worked. Brayshaw back to this role will make a difference. Combined with Salem back and we will be significantly stronger. Then there's May, who organises the back half. Were there any midfield tackles?

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
The only real issue was our midfield getting smashed, but I saw a few instance where they didn't go hard at the ball We are better with Harmed in the middle than Viney. Picket has to relearn to move toward the ball rather than waiting.

Harris Paxman L Pearce D Pearce Bannan West was probably better than Bannan, but Bannan more influential. * Worth noting the size and strength of our top players. Against the good sides some of our "girls" tend to get pushed around.
