  1. What comments would you be referring to? Frawley's comments sound like a mix of modesty and the desire to temper raised expectations.
  2. Very wait and see on Grimes. Was one of our best last year but was very workmanlike in his endeavour, not showing the class that he had as a rebounding defender. I would expect him to improve as the game plan improves because he will be that dedicated to implementing it. I don't think it's necessary to speculate on him too much at this stage, and I think he's the best possible captain the MFC could've wished for.
  3. I think Jack Viney will be playing under the weight of expectation whereas anything that Oliver Wines does will be a pleasant surprise. What we need is for the rest of our mids to sort their [censored] out and let Viney get on with the task of slowly developing as an AFL footballer.
  4. For anyone who missed it, Garry Lyon singled out Frawley as the player to watch from the Dees this year. Said he was carrying three serious injuries last year but played on because of the horrible year we were having, but expects him to be back to his AA best now that he's fit and good-to-go. I'm hoping that with the further development of McDonald and Dunn as KPDs it'll take some of the pressure off him as well. Link here.
  5. Agree with both of these statements. Hopefully with our game plan coming closer to fruition there'll be less instances of kicking it to Jamar on the boundary surrounded by 3 opposition players and he'll be able to make an impact as an occasional one-on-one marking target. Not giving us much of anything around the ground at the moment. Hoping to see more movement in the centre square from mids this year as well. Jamar can get all the taps he likes but it's useless if they're all going to a stationary target.
  6. Any chance of finishing the list? No idea where to get the prospectus in Canberra.
  7. http://www.urbandictionary.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/ Yeh, those 3 seconds of confusion are rough.
  8. Means we're prepared to delist another player.
  9. Liked what FootyRhino had to say about him: "Settle down fantasy coaches, you can’t touch Jesse Hogan for another 12 months. If I’m Mark Neeld, I’m shoving the 18 year old in a dimly-lit room, with just a bench press, a mirror and a picture of Jonathan Brown circa 2007. Every now and then, I’d slide a live cow under the door with a hack saw and a blow torch. Hogan already weighs 100kg and was super impressive in Friday night’s games; it looks like Melbourne might have a game-changer on their hands."
  10. Wonder if Jesse Hogan will play through the finals if Casey gets that far again.
  11. The only teams I want to beat this year are Essendon and St Kilda, everyone else can get rolled when we're heading into the finals next year.
  12. This ended up really weird after I clicked through a few related videos and then reread "This happened behind the scenes of Footy Classified" while watching the Best of Quagmire.
  13. They won't be trying to lose either.
  14. Wonder if the constant 'Jack Darling, if only...' threads will end now that Lucas Cook's gone.
  15. Screw being a Western Bulldogs fan right now. Least we're on the way up.
  16. 1383 was the number of members the Roos had a year before they started the push into Tassie. Would be interested to know how many the Dees have down there at the moment. I've never been to the NT but I imagine it's a very different cultural landscape that we're pushing into.
  17. There's nothing short term about a push into China. It would have to be an AFL-wide approach which we could put our hand up to be band leaders in if it suited, but we're not going to make in roads into China off the back of one struggling club. China doesn't need AFL and has very little to gain from it. You'd be better off pushing it towards a country with people that would actually want to come to Australia to play a localised Australian sport. It'd be a like a struggling Canadian Lacrosse team pushing for members in Sydney. We have far more to gain from a push into the NT. As a Tasmanian who's been living out of the state for the last 8 years, it's easy to see the cultural shift down there each time I get back. Hawthorn is every person's second team, and people buy memberships because they love what the Hawks have brought to the state. You've got to give something to get something and Hawthorn brought regular AFL games to Tassie and so people are happy to buy in to support them. Over time (probably shorter than you think), the same thing will happen in the NT, whether we're winning games or not.
  18. No time for short term thinking in the NT! Gotta pack our bags off to China and get stuff happenin! Schwabdogs: "AFL's the bomb and the Dees are the most awesomest team around!" China: "Shut up and take my money!"
