Obviously you say it in jest, but I think worse decisions could be made than having jnr running around showing gysberts morton and blease what it means to be a real midfielder...dumping him was one of the worst decisions the club has made in a period of many poor choices

2012 Draft ... #3 Jack Viney, then pick 4 ??
rolly replied to jurrahcane's topic in Melbourne Demons
Vlastuin seems the best of that crop... We could really use a bona fide clearance winner with a bit of mongrel? Sounds a lot like moloney but goes harder, could well shame a few of the blokes into going harder -
out clark, bate, dunn, macdonald in martin, tappy, bail, davis with another added to the long term injury list we get another rookie elevation (as is my understanding-i'm sure i'll be corrected if wrong) so whats the word on williams or sheehan?

P.s surely it's too early to be talking of getting rid of Troy Davis after only a couple of what were frankly quite encouraging nab cup games

Stopped reading the above post when mckenzie was suggested as a possible trade/ delist while Dunn is the teams best defensive forward...simply ridiculous Dunn would be near the top of the trade/ delist list closely followed by bate, benell, jetta and Joel Mac Green and davey should retire or be moved on, would like to see flash remain at the club as an indigenous affairs officer or some such role and green still has a good footy brain just a pity the body is letting him down. Would be good to see long term servants of the club retain some affinity with us after their playing days rather than see a repeat of the junior debacle. The roughy who I think that will be offered up a trade bait would be Sylvia. Pre season indiscretion followed by the laughing after the performance against the swans would not be sitting well with need IMO.

What more does Troy Davis have to do to get a game? He looked impressive in the nab cup and by all reports is having a stellar year with Casey, I just don't understand why joel mac keeps getting a run. I tell you what, Stef Martin would have to consider himself unlucky not to get a call up after a 4 goal haul against cooling wood vfl. From memory Lucas Cook kicked a couple in that game also but Dunn gets yet another chance at half forward? Surely a game against kids would be a great chance to see where our kids are at in their development

Would like to see vineyard in the red and blue, but have the feeling that sheedy will put in a bid just to force our hand. I think that since Todd is head recruiter now there may be a sneaky word in young jacks ear letting him know that 2 years is a very short time in the career of a young afl player and that a 5 year deal would be waiting to welcome him home. This would allow us to maximize our draft picks although witha bit of luck we could get an additional discretionary draft pick.for being so bad for so long

is darling that good or is he enjoying the fruits of having lynch and kennedy taking the 1 and 2 defender? does darling normally play against frawley or rivers? scarlet or makay? and then there is the fact that he is getting A-grade delivery from one of the premier midfields in the comp. must be nice leading up and seeing the bloke who is about to pass it to you is daniel kerr, or luke shuey or even matty priddis. how about the fact that every second team he plays against has to play halfway around the world over in perth? i know i feel my best after a 6hour flight, after which you step onto a tarmac thats bubbling from the heat while still wearing appropriate melbourne scarves and jumpers. i don't think anyone has said that cooks skills are worse than darlings, only that he is physically smaller. i am happy waiting for the young beanpole to fill out because by the time he does our midfield might have bulked up too and be in a position where they are able to get the ball into the forward line in a quick and competant manner. i still see a good future for our forward line with clark, watts and cook as the 3 talls with howe and jurrah the medium sized jumpers and sylvia doing the crumbing.

pretty sure we all know it was cale morton's fault

that Martin Flanagan piece was great journalism...very well written, and unassumingly emotive. if he can talk like he can write then hutchy should [censored] off or they should make some room on the couch between roos and sheehan
-
hope what they were talking about in their native tongue was clean because you can bet that it will be dissected and translated by someone at some stage...hopefully it was the jam and marmalade joke would hope that there was a MFC representitive in the room whilst the EMT interview was being conducted at the very least neeld can be happy he's put a "harder edge" on the playing group, it's certainly one way to change the "bruise free" image of the club

WE HAVE A PRESS!!! in just a few months we look like a completely different unit on the ground and i'm excited about where we are headed like i haven't been for a long time
-
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/130103/default.aspx "granted indefinate leave" is a statement to send shudders down any supporters neck these days. hopefully he's just gone back there to slap some sense into aussie
-
i can't believe how good our press has become in just a few months! from basically nothing, what i've seen is awesome. obviously the real test is going to be when we play against a full strength opposition at the back end of the season but from what i've seen there are massive amounts of good signs to come. add some structure up forward with a full sized/ full strength forward line and the excitement starts to build

benchmark has been set. neeld has said that this punishment is to be the norm, therefore any future leniency can be construed as exceptions to the rule. blease was unlucky he had to be the sacrificial lamb but its just a nab cup mini-game and this way neeld has set the standard and once again the players wont be confused with where the FD stands on the issue.

Disgraceful that they had a camera crew at the ground and managed to patch in about 15 seconds of the boys running around inbetween shots of little kids ... for shame MFC would've been nice to see a little bit of actual player footage.

to be fair though its a trip to the gold coast...to play bris and the gc. it'll be a nice holiday with a heavier than normal training session on saturday night

damn it...now i have to get a new birth month!

back on theme... this wasn't the intra-club match that was promised was it? -
so sylvia's quad is all good? how about cooks hip?
-
why can't we get quicksilver as a major sponsor?
-
http://www.melbourne...45/default.aspx and the announcement has been made...our newest sponsor!!! lol EDIT- "don't drive like a demon" seems pretty tongue in cheek considering Sylvia's off season antics
-
"pulling names out of a hat system" could work with a bit of tweaking...maybe for each concurrent season your team doesn't win 5 games you get an extra "ticket" so when GWS don't win a game for the season they would have 2picks before finalists, then in 2013 when the get a doughnut again they would have 3 etc etc. whereas a team like the suns because they already sucked last year would have the extra pick already for next year but after the 2013 season when they have 6-8 wins they would drop back to only having the 1first round pick EDIT- "When the league last looked at the issue, in 2009, consideration was given to lengthening out the qualifying period for priority picks or giving the AFL discretion to hand out picks." PLEASE GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE THE ADMIN NEED TO STICK THEIR NOSES IN ANY FURTHER!!!!!!
