  1. My apologies, I thought initially he was a FA. But the way the post was heading I thought I may be wrong. So I now say Good Luck Riv. I hope you get the contract you want.
  2. Williams by a mile. Can withstand a bump for starters. A has the ability to crunch through packs. Besides that has a good pair of hands and can kick a ball. So really no comparison.
  3. I say let Riv test out the RFA. If he gets a good offer in a club that has finals aspirations, Good Luck. If he gets a reasonable offer from a club that doesn't have immediate top four potential, then let the MFC match the offer if they wish. Either way we can bid to retain him and pay about the "Market Price"
  4. Adams Rowarth Johnson Tunbridge Lord Mann Mclean Mithen Dixon Now that was a midfield forward line
  5. Saints Cull 4 Peake, Polo Crocker and Archer. Woiuld we be interested? I don't think so.
  6. No point repeating it. I think you got the gist perfectly.
  7. In the "HUN" at 4:35pm today. We are after Knights Big Time. Taken with a grain of salt because it was from the "HUN". Therefore take Knights off your wish list, when has the "HUN" made a correct decision on anything.
  8. Just deserves for a great preseason. Pity there weren't a few more that put in a similar effort.
  9. Thanks Old Dee, I don't know how you understood my post. It looks like 3/4 of it has been cut out. But it looks like you are brill.. at reading between the lines or paragraphs.
  10. I can't believe all this tripe.<p>There is not one player on the OOC list that DLAND hasn't been calling for their heads or quest
  11. Of the OOC players, I would like to keep Strauss, Jetta and Rivers. But would not stand in his way if he was offered what he wanted on the FA. I'm off to the "Bluey" next Thursday. I guess we will know all of the de-listed by then. Or maybe he's keeping a few up his sleeve for a bit of night time entertainment.
  12. couldn't offer Jamar. He has recently re-signed for 3 years We don't have anyone not contracted worth a trade.
  13. Jones 9. Best player for Dees by a mile, didn't get caught with the ball like he used to. Not only our best but most improved. Howe 7.5 A good high forward / midfielder, all class but a shitty kick. Clark 7 Proved himself in just a fistful of games. Attacks the ball and the man like a KPF should. Grimes 7 The most consistent season he has had and has shown real leadership. McDonald 7 Apart from kicking he was one of our better defenders. Rivers 6.5 Had his best year since 2004, played like he wants to be here. Trengove 6 Played under a lot of pressure early, but improved out of sight in the latter half. Blease 6 Refer trengove above. The rest were not consistent enough to comment.
  14. You better do the same as "WYL" overhaul your favourite player list.
  15. I hope they aren't interviewing the players in alphabetical order. Because that means Bartram, Bate, Dunn,Gysberts, MacDonald are safe.
  16. Time to omit Beamer and replace him with Mitch Clark
  17. The most important item to come out of this is. . . . . . . Who will WYL replace Beamer with on his list of favourite Players?
  18. 1. Jones 2. Howe 3. Grimes 4. Rivers (never thought I'd say it) 5. Tommy McDonald 6. Most improved Sam Blease.
  19. I really believe there are quite a few boys at GWS & GCS who are homesick. They are private school types and wish to continue their education back in Melbourne. Where they have the family support.
  20. The club has more to think about than an unqualified statement by a glory hunting journo. yes he maybe leaving, but just wait until the whole story unravels.
  21. Well done Billy, If I wrote down my thoughts, I'd definitely get a warning.
  22. Probably the best article I have read about the club for a long time. It shows that we have a plan and a direction to aim towards. There will not be any short term achievements, but the long term is what I want to see. Let's aim for being a sustainable power house, not a One Hit Wonder.
  23. Couldn't agree more WJ. Melbourne has often been accused of not being professional in their dealings. But when you go through the accepted protocols of talking to a Manager. That is an accepted protocol in anyone's language. Let's just remind people what we are after at Melbourne and that is a change in culture. That can only be done from the Board, F.D, Admin & staff. That then will transmit to the players that are recruited. This year we have been enveloped in turmoil, the Board and Admin have performed admirably. F.D. totally new and trying to work out the SWOT, it takes time. The staff I have dealt with could not be more helpful. So off field I would say we are ticking all the boxes. Let's see if we can now start to tick on field boxes.
  24. Misquote, "Players sometimes have one good year" c'mon Mods check the grammar
