  1. I was just wondering, with the trip planned next week. With the high temperatures and humidity. Who will be the first to go down with a season ending injury? Who will have a close encounter of croc. on the Kakadu Hike?
  2. As I said in last weeks training notes. I wish I was a fly on the wall at some of those lessons. I think we D'Landers would gain some better knowledge of what happens at the football department these days, compared to yesteryears. It would be quite amazing all the various bits of information the professional footballer has to absorb. Diets, Set Plays, Videos, and other I.T. info Stats, GPS monitoring. Altitude Training, Opposition Tactics, Drugs, Alcohol,Treatment of Women the list goes on. To think I survived on Pie Nights, Beer, Pack of Marlboro reds, Just knuckling the opposition. But I had fun.
  3. It's a shame you didn't do a spell check at the same time.
  4. I'm just waiting for the commentators to stuff up a call. Gee he's a BIG KENT.
  5. If we get found guilty I wouldn't mind receiving the draft disqualification they got. Cannot recruit the first 2 picks, but you can trade them in the free agency. WIN / WIN no more skinny bodies. Yeah!
  6. We will improve but how much we wont know until about Round 8 Gee I hope we finish above the Lions, after all they have Moloney and Martin.
  7. BB59, You're pumped like I haven't seen you pumped. 8 out of 20 posts in a thread you started. You must be after more likes to add to your distinguished ratio. but you are right. I wouldn't go as far to say top 6, but finals is not beyond us.I would like to see what our form is like after the spell. Most likely Round 8 would give a better indication. But keep it up and I may add to your ratio .
  8. We have a lot of backmen, but good backmen? I doubt it We have been used to a lot of mediocre performances from out back six over the years. Sometimes I reckon we think they are great, when in actual fact they are just fair. How many top 4 clubs would Strauss, Garland, Nicho, Dunn & Watts walk into a backline? Therefore we can still afford to add backmen to our list let's just see what Terlich and Dean can do.
  9. Some of you have been around the change rooms surely. We must have someone we can name. The Horse or Python. or the other extreme Acorn. Edit :- Unless the nickname Monty is the same for Shannon Byrnes
  10. Nathan Jones = His team mates call him Chunk
  11. From what I saw today at training. Nate Jones is about as close to our first A grade Mid Fielder since Todd put on the famous No.12. He has taken the game to the next step. He's running all the right angles and runs all day. He has to be our Rover if there is such a position these days. Viney has to be his replacement, but still has a bit to learn.
  12. With the red shirt. and a mean looking camera that takes very superb photos. can I book you for my 5th Wedding? Sorry that aint gunna happen. One slight disagreement. I think Bail was trying to avoid Tappy
  13. Maxy Gawn = Mad Max Tom McDonald = Big Mac. Jimmy Toumpas =TooooooomPaaass Just like oooooze
  14. In a line of chalk or talc powder that's 18 inches. I guess it's the same in speed.
  15. I forgot to mention pencil, he certainly has a bit more lead in his pencil these days. Gawn is a monster. Ruck department certainly looking the goods Interesting about Hannath training with us, I wonder whether it's a back stop measure. We certainly do have a history of rucks going down with season ending injuries during pre-season. When the boys were doing the tackling no-one mentioned how much the boys liked doing it that way. They were encouraging each other all the way and when one laid a superb bone crunching tackle the roar that came from them was fantastic. If we were looking for a team motto after that. "Kill or be killed". Sorry if I've posted too much today, I was pumped from the effort they put in. GO DEES!
  16. Definitely training with the backs predominately sitting beside Frawley in the back pocket.
  17. Nice one Rosso. I was there also, Maxy Gawn did a couple of laps, he looked good. I was impressed with the stoppage setups, little tweaks were done to them to suit different areas of the ground , Forward / Defense / Wing etc.. Young Viney looked great, dad was a very fat. Jack really has a go all the time, he was called up a couple of times for trying to do too much by himself and not bringing others into the game. Nicho looks super fit but kicking still a problem. ditto Magner. Watts copped an ankle which sent him off the ground for ten minutes. He came back on but didn't seem to contribute much after that. In the end the Rucks were doing some setup ruckwork with the mids. The rest of the team was doing laps. At this stage Watts had packed his bags and was headed back for a shower. Guys I have been down to training a few times over the last 3-4 years, I have noticed how well orchestrated the training program is these days, compared to the days at Casey under Bailey. Those old days training was "adhoc", almost to the point they didn't know what was going to happen until they got there. I'd like to be a fly on the wall and sit in on some of the lessons that they do at AAMI park. I'm sure I would get a really good idea of the amount of preparation these guys have to do just to get on the training track.
  18. Do the boys head up North for a week on Friday to Darwin? I think we are doing the Target equivalent of High Altitude training. That would be Top End Training. What am I going to do next week. Don't tell me Xmas shopping. I may have to just go into a coma. I love the pre-season, we don't lose any games.
  19. A lot of varying comments. I'll add one more. The recruiting we have done over the past year has been done with a considered PLAN. Not the scattergun approach of the past several years. When I look at the body types we have recruited along with the experienced players (also with strong body types) I can't help but feel that we have recruited with one purpose in mind to become really hard at the ball all over the ground. Yes we still have a couple "Wide Receivers" to quote another code, or outside runners to quote the AFL. But that is needed to break open the play. It remains to be seen whether the players can pull it off, but the type of player is definitely right. I pity the team that comes out and says we are Soft C**ks this year.
  20. Now going by my very limited Greek Alpahabet knowledge.... Alpha Beta Gamma Therefore if he gets No.3 His Nickname has to be "Gamma Toumpas" It sounds sort of like Gazza Toumpas with an extraordinary license. It has to be better than "Jimmy the Greek"
  21. I thank you for correcting me. Blonde hair and played about the same games.
  22. FB: Nicho Frawley Garland HB: Watts McDonald Grimes C: Toumpas Jones Blease HF: Howe Clark Sylvia FF: Byrnes Dawes Pederson R: Jamar Trengove Viney I/C: Dunn Rodan McKenzie Sub Tapscott What would I know. I would be happy if I got the basic pass mark of 50%
