Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Id give PJ the real kudos to be honest. I have no doubt Roos has improved the culture but its flatlined. PJ has been the one thats transformed off field for sure -
Lumumba has proven to be a dud.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...

The list is not that bad. Its bottom-middle table i think . The team is definitely the worst in the comp though. In the metrics of teamwork, work ethic and desire to be good, we rank 18th. the improvement is there but its been two years now. any reasonable expectation in 2013 would've been that the side would not put in completely dispirited shambles of performances like the last month by the second half of 2014. We should be looking at win/loss ratios by now yet we are still left wanting for spirited performances. That should be long gone. Half the list has changed. There is something going on that no one seems to be able to put a finger on. Th players don't shepherd. But how do they "not shepherd" after 2 years of a coach surely telling them to shepherd. Either the coach doesn't believe its necessary, the players are really dumb or they just aren't buying in. It can only be one of those 3 as shepherding does not require advanced motor skills. -

Brett Ratten should be MFC coach 2017
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Fitz Fitzpatrick's topic in Melbourne Demons
we don't need A grade mids to compete with st kilda in the wet. I don't mind the loss so much as they are an up and coming side. It was the way we lost that concerns me. that was a 10 goal hiding in the dry, make no mistake. the smashing in the clearances and the I50s can't be ignored. thats an indictment on the midfield and the coaching. You don't need elite recruits to be 'competitive' in the middle against the saints in the wet. Yes you need elite mids to beat hawthorn but we weren't trying to do that on sunday. The midfield got their pants pulled down on sunday by a bunch of 1st year players. -

Yeah I thought that as well. I think mcartney is a huge get, but to say after 2 seasons, that the team improvement is satisfactory is just not plausible. Any chance to secure big name trades is destroyed by performances like last game. The midfield contains Jones, Viney, Vince, - yet it gets SMASHED there is no cohesion. I agree it had to come from a long way back but 2 seasons has passed now under the new regime. The improvement curve is too flat. The myth that its a young side doesn't fly anymore. The lack of cohesion between the players is worrying. The last few weeks the midfield has been completely dismantled at times. The fwd 50 entries are abysmal. This is more than just individual skill level. -

Its not just skills. Its confidence and ability to play as a team. No one makes it to AFL level that can't hit a target 2o metres away. Dawes doesn't grubber an inside 50 because he can't kick the footy. Players don't handball backwards to stationary flat footed targets because of lack of skill. I acknowledge they are less skillful than other players but it wasn't skill level that killed us on the weekend. It was desire and ability to play together as a team and perhaps a shite game plan -

Roos tenure has been a bust. I think this weekends loss was the lowest point in this period of low points. We hit rock bottom. That loss means that the last 2 seasons under Roos have been for nought. That footy on Sunday was Neeld'esque. Theres no disputing that. 37 points, IN THE WET, against st kilda It symbolized that everything the club as tried to do on field since september 2013 was thrown out the window by the players in 2 hours. Now this group is going to be handed over to a coach in waiting who can't even get this midfield group to play as a cohesive unit. This wasn't just another loss. the manner in which the team lost de-legitimised Roos tenure -

People love to hate Bucks but lets be honest, if he was a Demon, we would absolutely love that guy -

Dawes should never pull on the red and blue jumper again. -

Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Fitz Fitzpatrick's topic in Melbourne Demons
An to add, our midfield under Ratten as midfield coach was slick and a cohesive unit. My biggest concern is that our midfield this year seems to have no idea how to play as an effective unit. On paper the midfield should not be that bad, but it is. It is inept and misfiriing big time. Hogan will not stick around -
I believe the Goodwin plan should be scrapped. Unproven coach who was a rushed signing as the time for coach in waiting appointment drew near. He is learning under Roos but concerned at what he is learning. Ratten was a good coach in his own right at Carlton and in hindsight even better. Since then he has been heavily involved in Hawthorns coaching team and working close to Clarko for the past few years he is coming from a culture and philosophy of successful footy. Roos is going to hand a weak and poor list to an untried coach in 12 months. Goodwin is coaching the midfield and look at the lack of cohesion and teamwork amongst our midfielders. Lets go after Ratts

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
A statement bigger than anything in afl history needs to be made. Those early errors by Dawes killed the game. He is a member of the leadership group. He would be disappointed but he and all the others know he'll get another game next week. He is a afl veteran on big coin. It should be made public that MFC arent f@cking around anymore. An announcement t be made that as Dawes is not fulfilling the bare minimum required of a club leader he will no longer be playing and his contract will be terminated at years end. BANG -

I wanted bomber Thompson. I think he's quirky but players play for him and his style of footy is great. He definitely had the bombers playing good footy -

he referenced a stat to as showing that they were trying. Im tired of roos sugar coating our glaring failures. the way he sugar coated our "win" against the lions last week was pathetic. that was a win, but it was more Bradbury than Bolt. -
Did anyone just hear that in the press conference?!!!!! Is he serious???
