When you say he's not, I guess you mean funny. I think his routine as a commentator is increasingly tired and contrived. I put him in the same category as the Coodabeens with Greg Champion flogging his 20th version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight with associated word changes. 1,'And the recruiting has been shocking.' - way too early to say as Geelong's development will support 2, Bland - when young teams get a pasting they do go into their shells but that's not bland, that's overawed and, again, is a process of development 3, Football has moved on from the 50's and 60's. As Garry Lyon said to Commetti, 'it's irrelevant' in relation to the now 4, We won more games in 2011 than 2010. We have had 2 rounds so far. I tell you what I do understand about the Dees of 2012; they will finish this season as men with a genuine appetite for the contest. So yeah, he's a bit of a [censored] imo

Let's not stray too far from the point.......Commetti is a [censored] and increasingly unfunny.

Absolutely spot on dees64. They play for each other but I would also add, they were given time to gel as a group.
-
Biffen, you never actually played did you?
-
Cheer up, at least it's great to see the smugs at Hawthorn get done.
-
I do agree re Blease. He appears to be a fringe player at best right now. I did find it strange that he spent 3 quarters against Brisbane doing very little until subbed for Bate who did well
-
Lucifer, I agree that he's gone backward but I also think that the boy can play. He's played predominantly off half back but I would love him to play higher up the ground. As I said, his strength is/was that he's a runner.
-
Monoccular, are you serious when you demand that Moloney must earn his spot. It's one thing being critical, but you surely need to keep things in perspective. He should be a walk up start if fit. Go back to Casey........surely you're kidding.
-
He gets an almighty bagging but Morton needs games in him. If the club is fair dinkum re structures and long term success he simply must play. Yes, he's had some shocking games but so have they all. He is just the type of player to be perservering with. If you look at a number of Geelong's backs, they too needed to learn their craft......and they did. For starters, he provides run and spread.

At the risk of sounding delusional, (given Billy Stretch looks about 8yrs old in the 2010 articles I've seen), we do have a couple of promising father and son mids coming through in Viney this year and Billy Stretch in 2014. The wraps on Billy Stretch out of Adelaide are extremely encouraging ie Chris Judd comparisons. When you think that a number of our young players will have 50 - 90 games under their belts by then, this makes current developments a little easier to take. Stating the obvious, a couple of damaging mids would solve a lot of issues.

Does anybody know as to whether Lucas Cook is injured? He's one that I'm wanting to see into the firsts but has had a number of setbacks.

How will you celebrate a Dees' flag?

Given it might be in the afterlife ie 2064 I need to give it some extra thought. -

Demetriou picks and chooses who he defends and who he throws to the wolves and he appears to do it under the guise of political correctness when it suits. Does anybody believe he wasn't up to his eyeballs in the Rendell saga? How can you sack Misfud when you're probably the encourager? -

Does anybody have David Williamson's number? Surely there's room for The Club 2 When you buy a Dees membership you really do get the full package. -
Deemad, I just thought he was overly angry at the conference as opposed to breaking down why we lost other than we were pulverised in the centre.
-
So far I've made a point of making positive contributions. However, Grant Thomas may be easily subject to criticism but I, too felt uneasy with Neelds press conference. Don't get me wrong - want to like him but I prefer the 'talk softly and carry a big stick' philosophy. All this talk about Melbourne needing to be hard is a one dimensional remedy that is too easily adopted as a cure all when teams are getting flogged. Brisbane beat us through footy smarts and swift ball movement. They pinpointed passes into the forward line and we bombed it in.

Perhaps we could pay his Dad 100 large to make the Demon banner. -
Wonna really didn't show anywhere near enough to indicate that he was good enough to consistently perform for Melbourne. On his day a great crumber but certainly those days were a fair way back and probably not that often. I do wish him the best though as I think we all do.

DemonWA, I think you're very harsh re Dangerfield. I reckon he has the capacity to be a star.
-
Surely you would grab a Dangerfield every day of the week. A line breaker that we desperately need, even taking into account the late form of Blease.

Can I ask what the story is with Brad Dick? -
Hindsight is 20 20 vision but I was always underwhelmed by Scully's actual football. Yes, he did get a hell of a lot of possessions in a quarter once but he also lacked penetration in his kicking and missed substantial time to a CHRONIC injury. He may well turn into a very good footballer. A great one? He is not the total package and, for my mind, lacks an x factor. May well be wrong but it would be terrific if, in two to three years we felt like the club had dodged a bullet by losing him and picking up Clarke.
-
He does seem to stuff up a hell of a lot. Just doesn't consistently play well enough to be excused for being a bit of a tool.

We are 2 - 0 in Darwin. My only concern is that, on both occasions, we have then run into Hawthorn and been run over. The recovery aspect worries me.
