Rory Taggert. Really excited about him. Having said that, I am on record as saying that Lucas Cook needed more time....and lay off Cale Morton. And Dean Kent did look promising.
-
I want someone on our existing list to be the star that no one saw coming.....a Nath Fyfe.

I admire your relentlessness.
-
Great point. And first match last season against Brisbane really illustrated the problem from the upset IMO
-
Some say you're too upbeat Old Dee. There's no doubt about it, you're incredibly optimistic.
-
Well that's just stupid really isn't it. So you'll sit in the stands and when 2019 comes around you'll let out a small hurrah. Try the here and now.
-
No you're not. I thought he was ok and needs to be persevered with - in the same way as Sam Mitchell was given game time early on. I'm not saying he's the next Sam Mitchell but, to my mind, he has similar smarts. Ultimately, that's what also makes a team look quick IMO

That's the key, keeping up forward pressure...well, one key!

There were a hell of a lot of positives tonight. Toumpas, Kent, Hogan, Viney and a gameplan. I'd love it if we could focus on the positives....for once

GAMBLING PROBE [update MFC cleared]
Return to Glory replied to Debamboozle's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are a number of ways this article can be interpreted. The clearest one, however, is that the AFL,s open door policy to gambling organizations is changing not just the vernacular in terms of the actual commentary of the game I.e pick the losing margin etc but is all pervasive and all corrosive. But its just another example of the actions of the AFL's corporate honchos that are alienating a number of supporters. So forgive me for my quick rant. This is not the game that it was not so many years ago, it's the plaything of big interests. Players are faster, stronger, fitter.........and the game has never been more on the nose as it is now not just in terms of drugs and/ or gambling but in the way in which it no longer brings us together but divides us into the haves and have nots. And by God Im sick of the coverage now needing to be one of crisis to crisis. Where have all the characters gone? Not just on the field but all those off it. The reason we loved the game in the first place. Where has all the fun gone from our game? It's as the game I loved has gradually been eroding and is in mortal danger of disappearing completely. More to the point, we are continually told that our clubs are either failing or succeeding....and if they're failing its as if we must as supporters be in a perpetually gloomy state. Why? The media demands it of us. It's become tedious and if this is the way it's going the regular supporters ( of which Im one) will just switch off. [censored] off!!!I go to the footy to enjoy the on field theatre and, to be honest, to leave the stresses of work behind. I may well be living in the past but I'm not convinced its not a better place than what we have today. -
The tragic downfall of Liam Jurrah
Return to Glory replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm very disappointed for Liam. He appears to have made some plum average decisions and the frequency of these decisions appears to be increasing. I'm not entirely sure that jail will act as a circuit breaker. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Return to Glory replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Who knows what he meant. He's not a bad bloke but there's an ingrown arrogance with these pr##ks. I've got to say, I've always hated them well above all other teams since 2000...and that includes Pies and Blues. Couldn't wait for him to get to work today. Nor could about 10 others. Release the Melbourne findings now! -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Return to Glory replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know the last thing the AFL wants is a drug scandal but for the life of me I could not get the grin off my face today. The same bloke who day after day would email me 'tanking revelation' happens to be a mad Essendon supporter. As I got in my car he showed me the essendon football he'd bought along with the membership for his daughter and left me with the words, " you don't need to worry about a membership for your team". I started the engine and the first words I heard on the radio were " if you've just joined us, the Essendon football club is crisis today....." I immediately thought of Michael Long and Troy Simmons and the worst day I've had at a footy game. It's been a long time coming but I hope it hurts them like hell! -
I'm generally a positive poster and without trying to be harsh I've always felt that Adrian Anderson has had a touch of the Blackadders about him in terms of trustworthiness.

By all accounts Sunbury could be terrifying. Off topic - Sunbury 73 by Chris Wilson one of the great underrated songs. Sorry

The tragic downfall of Liam Jurrah
Return to Glory replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I worry for Liam's future. Of course no one really knows but if i were to hazard a guess he seems caught somewhere between two distinct worlds. It would be terrific if, down the track, he acknowledged MFC but I would have thought that its a distant concern. Potential jail time would be at the top of his list would it not? -
It's early on but I'd suspect Billings will go one in the next draft.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Return to Glory replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
And if we do get a host of gun young midfielders let's not crucify them at Casey for months on end. Play them. I still maintain Lucas Cook got progressively worse the more he didn't get a call up. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Return to Glory replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks Jonesbag. All the other stuff didn't make sense. I'm probably naive but who/what is FB? -
Denham does seem to consistently have it in for the Dees. Can anybody recall him saying something positive about the club? I can't. He's a bit of a non entity anyway.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Return to Glory replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is it just me or is this a storm in a teacup? Neither of the clubs before us will choose Viney as their first pick but surely if they do we take the second best kid in the country - simple. Can you really imagine the head recruiter of GWS explaining to the board how they passed on the second best kid in the country to spite another team. It's not going to happen. -
I have watched a considerable amount of TAC and if Stringer is available grab him. He will be the one that clubs say, 'should have grabbed'. Mate in Perth says that Jack Martin is being played down as well. We already have a Toumpas in Trengove. These two guys offer a point of difference imho
