Dom Tyson needs to stop talking and/or get in the bin
Return to Glory replied to jmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're both lucky there's not a bin for shite grammar and poor sentence construction. -
Agreed Enyaw on Boyd. Boyd was an absolute spud to start with and is only now coming on.

The Watts debut has made us gun shy. Supporters are reluctant to throw players in the deep end because of this. I'd argue that the club made a rod for its back by almost showcasing its messiah. There would be nowhere near the same level of scrutiny for a Weideman or a Petracca. And if they don't perform from game one, so what? We are not going to win the Premiership or play finals so let's get them in to gain the experience.

In: Goodwin Out: Roos Once a coach moves from 'we' to 'they' aka the last press conference, there's a question around their own buy in to the cause....imo The next step for Roosy is to talk in the third person. 'Paul is not happy with the performance'
-
Agreed. If I was going to put it another way, we played like a team scared to lose. Most of us have played (particularly with individual sports) in games where the performance is not a true indication of what was capable. Let's hope that's it or we're doomed. Doomed I say.

That was always going to bite us on the arse.

I rate ANB and we could have done with him today. For starters, he's footy smart, which puts him ahead of quite a few.

Casey Scorpions Off Season News
Return to Glory replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bring in ANB. -
In the end the score line probably flattered us.
-
At least twice he tried to out mark one of the best contested marks in the game. But he had very little help to be fair.
-
Garland was woeful today. Absolutely woeful. And when did we become so treacle slow.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016
Return to Glory replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm also nervous about this game Jaded. When I hear words like 'annihilation' I go back to when the Age published 'The Red and Blueprint to success' (close enough) prior to us playing St Kilda. We were incredibly confident. Maybe 2008. We were flogged. -
I understand your sentiment DM and I want him to be a champion player for the Melbourne FC too. For starters, I just bought my daughter a Jesse Hogan badge with a view to it being relevant in 2018. However, a fair bit can go wrong and I don't subscribe to the early age comparisons (in terms of them being gospel like)

Not yet.

Did our former tunnel baller, Jack Fitzpatrick, offer more?
-
Agree re Rory Lobb CF. Just looked him up and he's 205cm and we did look massively undersized there.
-
I take your point. More of a lurking presence.
-
Stuie, I really am not trying to be a smart alec but I think you'll find that a 'where is he?! kind of presence' is actually called 'absence'.
-
There's no doubting that he should be judged beyond one game. My concern, however, is that he for all his athleticism, he doesn't seem to be a natural footballer or have a significant presence. Confidence?
-
I thought I was the only one DA. Maybe it's the paranoia brought on by seasons of disappointment but I quickly read on past posts that declare we'll smash, crush, slaughter the opposition. Invariably it becomes egg on face time. I just want the four points from a team that doesn't get ahead of itself.

McDonald for Dunn. Was there today and I'm not sure how he does it, but Sam Frost plays a foot shorter than he is (if that makes sense). Needs to develop a presence.
