  1. Swings and roundabouts. We benefitted from the AFL's suspect backing in the tanking scrutiny. We've also been on the lucky side in relation to the Viney father-son hiring and the Liam Jurrah drafting. I've no interest in witch-hunts concerning other teams.
  2. Geelong's? This idea that you need a specific crumber is misguided. You need all players working to apply defensive pressure to cause turnover and in turn scoring opportunities. Every player can be a crumber.
  3. You often make good posts master, but I'd have to say that in this thread you've been outclassed.
  4. 1. Jimmy Stynes 2. James Frawley 3. Stephen Tingay 4. Robbie Flower 5. David Schwarz 6. Garry Lyon 7. Allen Jakovich 8. Jeff Farmer 9. Todd Viney 10. Brett Lovett Special Mention - Matthew Whelan and Liam Jurrah
  5. It costs nothing to just show a repeat of an old program, or show something they already have the license to. There's a lot more involved with broadcasting a sporting event, with commentators and producers required.
  6. Yeah, I'm sure our first choice forward replacement would be the least developed forward on our list, a rookie at that.
  7. I'm not really surprised you don't get it. And you changed what you said you wouldn't do. Clumsy sidestep.
  8. Bloody hell you can be naive. What was he meant to do and say, if he intended to leave, or was making up his mind? And do you really think the other players cared that he contradicted what they said? Their imperative was to play a straight bat and not give the issue any further life, and they did that to the best of their ability. Scully proving them wrong meant nothing in the end, because they probably often weren't saying what they thought. Do you not see that everything said to the media is done so with a healthy measure of intent? It's no skin off their nose to defend him - in fact, it is said to serve a purpose. You couldn't do that to someone else? Rubbish. You have no control over what others say. Believe whatever makes you sleep better, though.
  9. There's a lot of carp about "the signs were there" and other revisionist rubbish. Just see it as it was. An unfortunate combination of events and circumstances that led to Scully getting an offer he couldn't refuse. And a lot to do with timing. If GWS hadn't entered the competition when they did, you'd still be canonising Scully's loyalty, work ethic and professionalism for the next decade. There weren't any tell-tale signs we should have picked up on. He is not inherently evil or disloyal. In fact, that's probably something worth noting - although they are both often championed by all and sundry, LOYALTY and PROFESSIONALISM are in essence conflicting ideologies.
  10. Always good for a laugh, the way you re-write history WYL. No self-awareness whatsoever.
  11. And Jeremy Howe.
  12. North have a lot of tough meat and potatoes types, but very little polish. Endeavour is great, but you need abit more. Otherwise Clint Bartram would be one of the best players in the league.
  13. I don't think this argument has much merit. We're recruiting mature bodied contested footy players because that's what we lack now, and due to what's available because of the weak draft. If we'd gone for those then, we'd be looking at topping up on speedy skilled players now, when they just aren't there. MFC's predicament was that we just didn't have any decent players and needed to basically recruit a whole new list. Our mature bodied players were beyond second rate. And the ones we're recruiting now are more about being a catalyst for getting the best out of the players we already had, rather than bringing anything new into the mix.
  14. Really? MFC must have concerns over Cook, because they punted on a tall forward (who they eye for the backline) with a rookie pick in a weak draft year? No possibility that he was just the best left? In fact, considering they see him as a backman, maybe they have concerns over Frawley and Garland? :: Facepalm ::
  15. I like the pick, and actually recall being impressed with him at VFL level, but he has a stiffer kicking action than Moloney. We didnt recruit him for his skills - more for the impact he'll have on our other players. Don't get me wrong, happy with the choice for a rookie, but not so sure he'll be a "weapon".
  16. Personally, I like the pick, but I wouldn't hold out to much hope of him playing a lot of AFL footy. The pick is more about getting competitive hard bodies into the squad to set the standard for the younger more talented players. There will be nowhere to hide and no one will get games without earning them. End result is that I see couch as being like a younger better Valenti.
  17. I think some people got their wires crossed when they learnt we were interested in the son of a former great.
  18. I rate him as a VFL player. Would like to see how he'd go stepping up.
  19. It's not pronounced, but I thought on these twitter photos Cale seems to be showig some definition in those arms finally... Is it just me? Is it the terminal boredom of the offseason? Is it grasping at straws because I'm so desperate to see him make something of himself..? http://t.co/DTya9igs http://t.co/UfPoTsEy http://t.co/Yco3x0rT Any thoughts?
  20. Yeah, succession planning is completely pointless...
  21. Oh, and I think Green will retire or be retired after 2012.
  22. Strauss no chance to be delisted. Seriously underrated. Bennell too. Just like Joel MacDonald is no chance to be on the list after 2012. Seriously overrated. Dunn gone too, and Spencer traded. Began thinking about this very topic a week ago, and came to the conclusion we are very likely to only use 1 compo pick next year. And Bartram quite likely to go, because ultimately, he is far too poor with the ball in hand.
  23. Good call, I went to school with him - he's a top bloke and a really smart bloke. But I don't think it's necessarily what he wants to do beyond his current level of output.
  24. Pardon my ignorance, but I have not idea what this means if anything at all.
