  1. I'd put it in the same basket as goal-kicking. Fitness managers probably don't want the players to have the load on their legs, and little time is devoted to sharpening that particular skill.
  2. No confirmation, just no arguing over nom de plumes. People will believe what they want to believe.
  3. You missed something - trade week is held immediately AFTER the father-son bidding, so a pick can't be traded out beforehand.
  4. That's an overstatement. I'd say they are being critical of his perceived contradictory actions. I don't have a problem with trying to hold the coach accountable... I just don't think there is anything to be held accountable to in this case.
  5. No it's not - it's clarifying who the hell he was talking about. (not back at work til Monday)
  6. Yeah, I get that, but saying he doesn't want to individualise doesn't mean he can't ever in the future, and can't have ever done it before in the past. He just doesn't want to in this instance. And I have no issue with that. Just as I have no issue with him publicly naming Davey and Watts as players he has challenged. In fact, it's pretty obvious he has challenged every player on the list - he has just shared the content publicly in regards to those 2. And none of the players should be concerned about hiding the content of their own challenges. If they are, they've missed the point and are being petty.
  7. Jurrah to lead the goalkicking, with Brad Green to barely get out of single digits in his final season.
  8. Ta, he's the one whose surname I wasn't sure about re: spelling.
  9. Just wanted to know who it was, cos I couldn't figure it out. Not angry at all, but you can read into things however you like. As rumpole pointed out, we're all capable of making mistakes. No shame in that.
  10. Sorry - who? The only blokes I can think of... Travis Johnstone Chris Johnson Paul Johnson Cam Johnstone All gone now. Sure it wasn't McKenzie? (ranga looking like Cam Johntsone?)
  11. I don't think individual praise should be handed out so easily. And I also think that Neeld has been quoted talking about an entirely different topic that you are trying to apply to previous articles that don't really correlate. I see it as nitpicking. Each to their own.
  12. More accurate: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/127787/default.aspx
  13. You need to have a good internet connection on top of that, though, don't you?
  14. I doubt he's referring to any particular player -- merely his philosophy.
  15. Nitpicking? All Neeld was really doing, was repeating what he said to them at their first one-on-one meeting, as an example of how he operates. Nothing overly critical or in-depth -- just something to give the players focus going forward. I really don't see the issue. edit: And your post lacks context - Neeld isn't looking to individualise players in terms of performing well in pre-season; he's not patting anyone on the back for merely training well. It should be expected.
  16. We have to either let them have him for the pick offered, or match it by offering our next best pick, in which case we get Viney and the other team keeps their pick in the draft.
  17. I've got 8, 16, 9, 12 and now 4. Thinking the next one will be number 20, 13 or 2.
  18. Pringle, I actually think Bate would be best used on a wing, so he can run in long straight lines and kick long into the forward line. But I agree with the rest of what you have said.
  19. Because, as a tall forward, which he was, he had severe limitations. I'm sceptical as to how well he'll go as a midfielder, but so far reports have been pleasing.
  20. Big difference between "3 years away" and "another Molan selection". Bigs can take time. Chris Dawes certainly did. And, worst case scenario, he turns out to be not good enough - it's not the end of the world. Hawthorn has survived spending top 10 picks on Muston, Ellis, Thorp and Dowler, yet still won a flag and has statistically the best list in the comp.
  21. I have no issue with the comments being made public, because I think Neeld feels that the players should be happy for the criticisms to be out in the public sphere. They should not hide from criticism and there will be nowhere that they are allowed to. They should embrace it. They need to know and own their strengths and weaknesses.
  22. It's hardly groundbreaking, but that's not the point. I'd rather respect the wishes of the club.
