Hoping we get a contract extension announcement this off-season. Plays with intensity and 100% effort.
-
Should get plenty of games next year. Like this kid.
-
Me too. I raised his name in the pick 37 thread a few days ago. He caught my eye during the champs and looked good as lead up target up the ground and is also a strong contested mark. Like you said he's very capable in the ruck. Still raw and only just turned 18 in September so think there's plenty of upside. We could do worse for pick 37 or as a rookie if he goes through undrafted in the national. I have question marks over Keelers competitiveness.

I always read @WalkingCivilWar as a reference to themselves being extremely uncoordinated, clumsy or injury prone. No offence 😅

Great win. Didnt get to watch all of the game due to work but love how Libby Birch goes about it and that midfield is really starting to fire with some excellent ball use. Purcell, Paxman and Hanks are stars and what a luxury it is to have Hore and Daisy in the forward 50 next to Harris. Probably some of the best delivery inside 50 I've seen from this group.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Nascent replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Probably one of the worst edited videos I've ever seen for a supposed highlight reel. Some clayton isn't even involved in and one is literally an essendon goal. Even the title is wrong. Thought I would share for the lols. -
The position of small lock down defender is there for him and D. Smith should their form warrant it next year.

I'm putting together a phantom and will post it in the next week or so. Won't be accurate in the slightest and live trading has made it impossible to predict. Still a fun exercise though.

I think Phoenix Foster might be worth a look at our pick here. 197cm Ruck/forward from SA who's a great contested mark and has a good athletic profile. He caught my eye in the champs but unfortunately I haven't seen any of his U18 games for Norwood where he has kicked 26 goals in 11 games. Only just turned 18 last month so might still have some growing to do.

I hope we're into Cadman and Callaghans ear already.

Long way to go until draft day but will be interesting to see the mock drafts evolve and see who could slide through to our pick. Having said that, there seems to be a consensus top 5-6 players with the draft stacked with mids, flankers and wingers and light on for key position players. I'm starting to come round to the idea of trading out of the first round this year if we found a suitable trade partner. If we could move 13 for a pick in the 20s or 30s and a future first I think that would be a great outcome. We can then take some project players this year and arm ourselves with 3 x 1st rounders, 2 x second rounders to use in a superior draft and/or trade for A-grade talent.

Interesting they have been coy on the contract length for Hunter and Schache. Looking at our 2023 OOC list it's easy to see why we've kept Melksham, Hibberd and potentially Baker for another year. Outside of Dunstan most, if not all, of these players we will want to re-sign.
-
I was more or less going off this from last week.
-
I should clarify, I don't think this will happen. But I'm 99% sure Georgiades is the player GNF is referring to as per their recent posts over the past 2 weeks.
-
It's Georgiades and would love it to happen/be true.
-
So will trades start dropping from 3pm or is the AFL going to make clubs wait until 6.00-6.30 tonight for the thrilling coverage of paperwork being lodged?
-
Would be a great outcome if he was available here. Hard to see WC passing on him twice though.
-
Do you happen to have your ear to the ground re JVR and how he's settled in?

This isn't the case. We gave up 33, 43 and 53 for 27 Points system is [censored] but essentially we gave 1174 in points and received 703 points. The alleged value of those extra picks to port equals pick 38. Geelong gave up 38, 48 and 55 as well as a F2 and F4 which, if they are premiers again, would be 36 and 72. 36, 38, 48, 55, 72 = 1495 points while receiving 756 points. The alleged value of those extra picks to Brisbane here is pick 26 and will only increase in value for every drop on ladder position Geelong has.

A fair point and certainly an option for us. As is simply having the extra trade capital to lure an established player at the end of next year. However, we have repeatedly traded into the first round with futures and currently have the most capital in that space since future trades were introduced. I'd be surprised to a degree if we don't move up the board in some capacity, be it 1st or 2nd round. A few media reports stated we were keen on a top 7 pick which would suggest we had a player in mind that we're quite keen on in the early part of the draft. As for top 5, if any of Sheezel, Wardlaw or Tsatas get through to that pick we will have done well in my view, while we are reportedly tracking Ginbey closely. The trade I suggested, while a lot, would still leave us with a pick in each round for next year's draft as well. After saying all that, I think it's highly unlikely we'll obtain a top 5 pick this year.
-
Looking forward to see what we do with our draft picks. Gold Coast have already stated they're keen on improving their draft position for next year. Maybe we could tempt them with pick 13, F1 and F2 for pick 5?
-
Yep, turn pick 2 into Ginbey and Busslinger. Not a bad return if it works out that way for them.
-
I suspect it will be (not including ashcroft) 1. Cadman 2. Wardlaw 3. Sheezel
