  1. Did we ever resolve whether he was eligible for this years draft, and was overlooked, or is next year his first run at it?
  2. Did read a few tid bits linking us with Angwin close to the draft. Would have been interesting to see who we would have taken between him and Rosman if he was still on the board. One thing I suspect we do well is follow select draft prospects in the following years and woo them over the long run. Langdon and Lever are two examples that come to mind. I wonder if there's a player in this draft we may see in red and blue a few years from now. GWS seem to be perpetually susceptible to raids and Angwin has a long list of quality midfielders ahead of him. Maybe one to keep an eye on.
  3. https://www.afl.com.au/news/533681/bids-bluffs-and-frantic-calls-inside-2020-s-first-round-draft-frenzy An interesting article about how the first round panned out behind the scenes with numerous deals in the works had stars aligned differently. In relation to the dees, we had an offer from the crows involving our 18 and 28 for their 22 and 23, leaving us with 19, 22, 23. However the article states the crows were intent on using that pick for Laurie. No other whispers in terms of potential deals we were involved in however it did mention the Giants interest in both Bowey and Laurie for their pick immediately following us, which then made them pull the trigger on trading out that pick to the pies for their future first. Also mentioned that if the tigers had of kept their pick they were likely to take Laurie and West Coast also tried to get into the tigers pick for either Laurie or O'Driscoll. Saints also keen on Laurie and Bowey.
  4. So we shouldn't expect to see him until about age 30, where he will develop a cult following after displaying some freakish ability, before being brutally cut from the list? Guess after that we can re-draft him during the mid-season draft the following year to revive his career.
  5. Can delete O-mac as well. Someone that's on instagram might be able to stalk the new recruits account and suss it out from there. Not that I advocate online stalking...
  6. Looking forward to some reports and footage of our new recruits at training when they filter through over the coming weeks. In terms of jumper numbers available we have; 16, 17, 19, 21, 28, 40, 42, 43, 45, 47, 48, 49, 50. Guessing for no other reason other than I'm bored at work. 17: Bowey 19: Laurie 21: Rosman 50: Brown
  7. After bringing in 4 first round draft picks and 6 inside 34 over the past two years, are we likely to see a greater emphasis on trades and free agency to target list needs?
  8. Hey @Lucifer's Hero Going by your contract list, does this mean we can have up to 2 rookies still? I'm tipping we'll have a player or two train on and take one with a view to save a selection for the mid-season draft.
  9. This is a great point, apart from jetta from a few years ago I struggle to think of too many that could really buy time with a decent side step and open the game up.
  10. Think it was @goodoil that posted a link to a game involving Max Holmes playing in 2019 when he was all the rage as a bolter linked to us by cal. I watched about 15-20minutes of the game and I came away none the wiser about Max but super impressed with Bowey. Looked a cut above with his skills, composure and pace. Think I made a comment then that I would be happy to see him in our colours and that hasn't changed. Welcome aboard Jake.
  11. Tanner Bruhn has the look of the next Giant to leave after serving his mandatory 2 years.
  12. I thought the same thing. I feel these rules are applied loosely when it's not involving a first round pick. We still have three picks in the subsequent rounds and we're better off so AFL probably gave it the all clear.
  13. That's the dream.
  14. So our 2021 draft hand looks like this now. Round 2 pick tied to Brisbane Round 3 pick tied to Western Bulldogs Round 3 pick tied to Hawthorn Essentially 3 picks most likely in the range of 30 - 50. No first or fourth round pick.
  15. Or our pick 89 might have come into the late 50's..... yeah we done
  16. Good question, can't see us getting much future currency for pick 50. Do we leave two spots open for the SPP and mid-year rookie draft... Carroll sliding massively. Maybe there's issues there.
  17. He's also clearly an astute observer of U18 footy as well with his commentary leading up to the draft
  18. Me thinks goodoil gets good mail
  19. No bid for Guldon yet
  20. Carroll got past Saints... will he get to our next pick?
  21. Kid is clean, quick and can kick it well
  22. Interesting that we bypassed Cook and Carroll....
  23. Geelong sneaks in... and steals Holmes
