  1. Certainly not the intention of the OP. Scorn clearly aimed at MMM.
  2. Let's hope so - there are certainly good signs generally. It all depends on the start. If we get away, we get away, and have games like Collingwood to hang our hats on. But if we get jumped early, we're much more likely to get locked in a close arm wrestle for the whole day. Until we have more evidence that we've gotten over this pattern, I'll believe it when I see it.
  3. This is fine but, historically, the problem with it is that we don't settle - we go into our shells and battle away for the next three quarters, terrified of losing. Can almost guarantee that is how this game will play out.
  4. I'm usually pretty optimistic, but I just can't shake the feeling that this one has the feel of a slow-motion train crash.
  5. I think he's right though. Harmes is a really solid, under the radar player. Has great smarts and will fill a role really solidly for a long time.
  6. The argument that we could have had Cripps, Crouch etc. Could easily have had these two instead. Hindsight is a waste of time.
  7. Brent Harvey by an absolute mile. Sam Mitchell heading the chasing pack. Loved him smashing Hannebury's throat on Friday night - as usual, won't be looked at. Filthy snipers both.
  8. Did anybody else hear the commentary on MMM yesterday after the Collingwood game? Apparently, sending Jeremy Howe down back was a 'masterstroke by Buckley'. Mark Howard then said 'looks like they might have found a new position for him'. Idiots. At least it shows how much attention the footy world has paid to us recently. He's been playing down back for years, ever since we worked out he was a muppet as a forward!
  9. He was referring to Maxy, methinks.
  10. You're not the first one to ask for this. Good luck with that, though.
  11. Interesting though that he's in Perth on the same day that Roos gets in the press and tells everyone we won't be paying overs for him.
  12. 17.11 is hardly a disaster accuracy wise, especially when he's something like 14.9 in set shots, when the run up is most relevant. You're making it sound like he kicks like Buddy used to at his worst. It's a complete fallacy. Who cares how we runs up? Nobody complains about Josh Kennedy.
  13. Don't get the constant focus on this stuff. He can kick 50 and is a great set shot. His accuracy is absolutely fine - why is it 'obvious' that he needs to fix his goalkicking and run up?
  14. Love that he's really run on this year. I also love that he's part of a bunch of 10-15 young blokes who are getting used to winning very early in their careers and will only have ever been coached by Roos and Goodwin. The past is just irrelevant to them.
  15. Good to see you back mate!
  16. Interesting watching the highlights package - I know Hogan apparently had a fairly quiet game, but I did see at least 2 or 3 really strong tackles he laid in chains that led to our goals. Fantastic to see him impacting up on the flanks and the wings, even if that means he's perhaps not kicking as many goals one week and others are as a result. Good on him.
  17. Bit rough on a 5 gamer to say he only plays well in small time games. I'd say there was a fair bit of pressure in Round 1 and he smashed it then, and he was excellent against North.
  18. Jeepers, not exactly keeping a low profile.
  19. Re the original comment, I'd prefer to say that if you have sufficient emotional investment in a footy team that you post on a fan forum, at least enjoy a massive win and let the coaching staff deal with the stress of ironing out whatever kinks were apparent in the game! Especially after the last 10 years - who cares if they were shocking or if we had defensive issues?!
  20. Oh get lost you bloody wet blanket.
  21. Oh and Petracca's goals. Amazing. The way they got around him after the first one was hugely encouraging. And that second one was just taking the [censored]. Loved the strut afterwards.
  22. Spewing that I missed this game, but it feels from afar like they've tinkered and tinkered and might be getting close to the team that fits the plan. Love that Harmes had a huge game.
  23. Just as another example, remember how mental everybody went when they published an 'honest' appraisal of the Casey players each week? I know that was partly because only the Casey players got that type of review, but it would cause a lot of angst if Roos was publicly honest like that. You've got a mate who plays VFL I think - when you make it personal, imagine how he would react if the coach kept hanging it on him in public. These guys are people too, and they have to interact with the coach on a daily basis. Being 'honest' for the sake of the members or, worse, the general public, would create a pretty toxic relationship with the players pretty quickly, I reckon.
  24. I'm not sure. I think it's better this way rather than getting in a press conference and saying 'Gee, Dunny has no idea about where to stand in a zone, amirite?'. I think he's been pretty clear on a few occasions (to the anger of a lot of people) about the precise state of the list.
  25. Is that a bad thing?
