Alan Richardson on SEN (3/3/23)
Let me guess: Happy with Grundy and how he's fitting in. Working well with Max - and will build during the year BBB close to injury free for the first time in 47 years All the boys in rehab progressing well, some better than anticipated Connection is important and the playing group have a strong focus on that Delighted with Hunter and offers us a real chop-out going forward into the space Kossie is not being pressured and he'll sign when he's comfy - and we are comfy with that - and Port are comfy, Kossie's accountant is comfy as is Mrs. Kossie JVR is being monitored and we won't be rushing him Kossie is stepping up and will spend more time rotating through the middle - offers us a real change-up in our structures The Dogs are a strong outfit - we have a lot of good games against them and really respect them. They'll came hard at us in a couple of weeks We'll look a bit different with Jacko going back to Perth - but we'll structure a little differently and Grunds offers us new flexibility going forward Yeah nah, we're pretty confident that if we stick to our game style and play the way we wanna play and get the game on our terms, exiting the fat-side of the ground can become a real weapon for us Kicking for goal is something we've been working pretty hard on at the footy club The footy department are pretty sure that if we just go out and play four quarters of good footy each week we can get the chocolates But of course nothing will beat Alan Jeans' observation after Horethgorn had won yet another preliminary final in the 1980's 'We were just happy to get the four point today."

James Brayshaw's Favourite Granny Since 2000
In my era, not a more pure style of footy played in a granny. Maybe a couple of equals (e.g. Jeelong in '07, ArmageDON in '84, Carlscum in '70), but I don't think anything better. And it was US. Brings a tear to my eye still. The MFC just showcased a 150 year old game in its great glory. And they can never take that way from us. 40 minutes of pure transcendence actually.

Happy Birthday Ron Barassi - 87 today
"Healy off, Ellingworth on". The man was all over it and could spot a down hill skier from 100 yards.

Future Fund Watch
Apparently Morgan Stanly showed excellent promise in the U19s, then did a groin and missed the entire next season. Comes off half back quite nicely. Mandate is to restrict oppo's half forwards The 10M in cash is for 1) the umpies when we play Jeelong/South/Footscray during the finals and 2) ward off Bartlett I hear from an insider that the Club is considering investing in tennis balls - very high rates of return Strategic opportunity = buying all the The Filth's reserved seating at Headquarters for the next 10 years so we don't have to get fumigated upon leaving the ground.

There's three certainties in life, death, taxes and... Triplechins being duplicitous a game being won/lost thanks to the intervention of poorly calibrated technology a game being won/lost thanks to the intervention of poorly trained umpires Bevo, Lyon, Simmo, Hardon, Scott, Scott, Clarko blaming a loss/poor season on everyone else except themselves The usual suspects milking free kicks at every turn Maysie flattening somebody/anybody then coming out and being BoG next game Goody and Richo holding a 45 min. pressa and telling us absolutely nothing Clayton winning the Bluey Max will hit the post from five yards out directly in front BT shuffling his ipod in the commentary box and asking Our Daisy to pick a tune.

MFC Family Day: Saturday 25th February 2023
Australia has the fifth highest rate of volunteerism in the world. Reliable stats comparing year-on-year increases and deceases in volunteerism are hard to come by, as scales of measurement and variables constantly change. But any increase/decrease is generally accepted as being small.

Rival clubs fume at Collingwood’s hold on MCG seats
I ran into CK in the dry-cleaner at the Camberwell Junction in the late 1990's. What a complete and utter @#$E &%le. Let's not delude ourselves regarding Tripplechins. Like Microsoft did to Apple in the 1990's, Colonwood needed to prop up the bulk of the competition or else risk playing with themselves every weekend (double entendre intended). And Colonwood only ended up in this position of market dominance due to the ineptitude of the VFL administration for the preceding 40 years. It's why the Commission was formed to run the comp in 1985 - curtail the preferential treatment to a handful of clubs at the expense of the Deez and others. Next deluded statement from CK - "we invented the game". Nothing but a Gaslighter our Eddie. Here's the problem with CK's statement. Reinterpreting history to suit oneself distorts reality. It's virtually unrecognisable at first, and almost passes unnoticed. Then reinterpretation builds on itself and becomes normative. The truth becomes marginalised as the domain of the elite and facts become whatever one wants them to be. The end result? The Deez are relocated to LA in 2055 because the new CEO of Colonwood, Jack Ginnivan, says "the City of Melbourne isn't big enough for the Mighty Pies and the Demons, let alone the MCG. We were here first, everyone know that."

Choco Williams is the New Goal Kicking Coach
This is such brilliant news. The switch is pure genius. Reminds me of the time FIGJAM was asked, after Travis Cloke had just kicked Colonwood out of the game for the umpteenth time, "have you ever thought of teaching Cloke how to kick?" Buckley replied (and if looks could kill, the journo would be well into his next life by now), "you recon I haven't been doing that?" Words honestly fail me sometimes.

SEN: Dees the Best Side on Paper
If true, then Lewis is much sillier than I thought. Jordon and Black are barely playing the same sport, let alone comparable as footballers. Black player 300 games, won a Brownlow, a norm smith, played in three flags, won three B&F and captained his club. JJ will be very fortunate to emulate one of those.
