The Writing Was/Is on the Wall
Interesting how this thread has gone quiet in the light of the Geelong debacle and the consequential occupancy of 18th position on the ladder. The harsh reality has hit home hard presumably. A top tier of stars and very ordinary 'c graders' underneath them. Outside of Lever and the Van . . . there's really not much improvement available outside the current 22. Many tried and failed and the end is coming quick of one in particular. Back to the draft for us and trade out a top five pick for Josh Kelly and a 'b grader'. The benefit of 2019 . . . which is considerable . . . is getting games into Tracktor, The Weed and one or two others who have 200 games stamped all over them. Getting a premiership outta this lot of 'a graders' is still well and truly on the radar . . . it's just going to happen a lot slower than many pundits realise.

Barry Norsworthy was pretty good.

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
So . . . come on you marketing types . . . what are the 2019 'brand parallels' (or in sales terms . . . why is this a good deal for both parties), what is the deal worth, and what will the KPTs be for Tata?

Anyone for cricket?
Hey everyone . . . Wondering if anyone can assist with the following information . . . or alternatively point me to where the info can be located. How many tests did McGrath/Gillespie/Lee play together? How many test wickets did they take while playing in the one team? What was the strike rate? AND . . . comparing the above data to this data . . . How many tests have Starc/Hazelwood/Cummins played together? How many test wickets have they taken while playing in the one team? What is their strike rate? Thanks all. John.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
That would be the 'output' HB. Another poster has made a recent contribution on this thread that's not too far off the mark . . . as I understand it.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Better not EO . . . but there's a recent enough post in this thread made by another poster that's not far off the view held by key people in the FD.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Actually . . . what was passed onto me contained a brutal assessment beyond what I've shared here.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
From a reliable source . . . Direct confirmation from an assistant coach about Hogan: “we’re glad he's gone - very hard to deal with”.

Would be surprised to see him in the red and the blue in 2019.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I would be extremely surprised (and disappointed) if Jesse wanted to go and play for Ross Lyon . . .

Farewell Jesse Hogan
'green snot blokes' . . . PML But get this . . . on first reading i thought you said "green snot blowers" . . . I've been looking for an appropriate collective noun for them for 20 years (post 'white maggots') . . . 'Green snot blowers' it is! QD

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Just wanna check . . . is that the same Hogan that: has the ball constantly kicked on top of his head has the ball kicked to his defensive side regularly competes against two or three opponents because we move the ball slowly or in unpredictable patterns has the ball dropped in front of him was a lock for AA in the middle of the season was rated top 15 players in the comp by The Roar a month ago flies against (take your pick) Pedo/Max/Harmes/Trac/Hotdog stand vendor runs his guts out to make position at half forward for a clear receive only to see the ball fumbled or turned over by (take you pick) ANB/Spargo/Jones/Tyson/Frost is so bugged by the time he does get the ball that he can't kick straight? Yeah . . . trade him I recon.

Andrew Gaff
From an impeccable source . . . Gaff has been offered six million over seven years by a Victorian club (not us) with lots of cash. Contract would be substantially front loaded. A number of Victorian clubs are right into Jeremy McGovern as well. Don't know if we are one of them.

Are you there Harry? Vale Harry Beitzel
Harry's calls of the 1977 finals series when Snake Baker and Tiger Crosswell tore it up were absolutely brilliant. He was a big influence on many that came after him including Hunt, Newman, Sheedy and Lane. A naive entrepreneur - led him to innovate brilliantly but get mixed up with some total tools as well. And yes, his son Brad (who also umpired at VFL level), is a mad Dee. I'm led to believe he might even frequent 'land every now and then. The Big H also had a soft spot for the Deez and certainly loved the idea of "Brasso" coming 'home' in 1981. Harry had a brilliant footy brain and was respected by many of the game's greatest players and coaches. That's a great legacy and compliment.
