All the best Harmesy, hope you get back to full health quickly and get out on the field playing again soon

I always felt that if he went anywhere it would be Hawthorn but still not convinced he will go, I have heard Adelaide have offered him a large amount of coin but not sure he would head there. I am now leaning more towards him being offered a very large amount of money by the Blues. We all know they are worse than we are for the messiah complex and have had it for over 50 years. Malthouse loves teams built on strong defence and IMO he will plan his team building around Frawley & Jameson in the back line and look at recruiting a young forward either by way of the draft or a trade. Henderson will play as a forward with Waite for another year before they look towards the new forward to step up
-
Geelong will not pay him what he is asking, they have the right balance across the board and to think he would command more than Stevie J, Bartel, Kelly, Harry Taylor etc is just ridiculous. They will maintain their players taking less money to keep the strong culture and will be strengthening that thought process even more given what is occurring up at Sydney

and Watts according to you is 100% dropped this week

I actually love Terlich's endeavour and I know he is inexperienced but I feel we may need to look at players coming off the HBF with good disposal. I am not adverse in Terlich being given occasional runs through the middle, see a lot of Shane Tuck in the way he goes about things and he loves a contest

Sorry to say old dee until our list improves players like this are required

Some peanut has played the game and sport at professional level knowing a little bit about injury management and rehab, knows family and friends of Hogan, you have tunnel vision and don't realise we are no different in this respect to any club Please go and do your homework on Richmonds management of Richo's lisfranc injury Geelong with Hawkins back Brisbane with Brown's knee Essendon with Hirds issues with his feet in the late 90's Meth Coast with Natanui's groin issues over the last 2 seasons Freo with Sandilands turf toe and it's recurrence Port managing Hartlett through his early years Reiwoldts management early on after going pick 1

out of curiosity is it your age or are you not switched on upstairs your comments are astounding in regard to all manner of subjects be it player management, player performance, our list or team structure

Doesn't that contradict itself Watts has all the skill in the world, but doesn't on face value appear to be putting in the effort (I personally think it goes beyond that) Bail has little talent but always puts in 100% and provides pressure in the forward line as he is asked to do, his effort is unquestionable

Wasn't there a rumour about Harmes possibly puncturing a lung in the VFL yesterday
-
General soreness or like others have said nobody put their hand up yesterday

Read my entire post (which was posted about 10hrs before Casey played)and don't cut and paste in isolation, I have Garland coming in as another defender, as I also said can't fault Terlich's endeavour but his turnovers are hurting us. I believe we need to find someone who can set up play from the backline and IMO Clisby and Strauss are better than Terlich at doing that. Toumpas once he develops is also an option but think he needs to continue in the VFL for a while. Frawley could provide some rebound from the backline as another option but is currently required up forward, it's all about opinions and throwing things around a bit

He rarely gets beaten and is not there for his attacking ability. He is one who is not under threat as far as I am concerned a typical no fan fair get the job done Roos defender
-
Shiel is top of my list, but think we also need to look at another ruckman - possibly throw some coin at Clarke from Fremantle. More players who can rotate through the middle also needed but I have faith in Roos, Viney, Stone and the FD knowing exactly what they are looking for

Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Downhill skier and not what we need and those asking for Shuey very settled here in WA and repaying Meth Coast for supporting him through his initial struggles with injury and the tragic death of his sister -
Disagree with this, whilst many think the sudden turnaround is due to Hinkley it goes beyond that. I always thought they had the makings of a decent midfield even back in 2012. They made the 2007 GF with players leftover from the 04 flag and had some really good young players in that side namely Boak, Kane Cornes & Westhoff. Those 3 have been good leaders as they progressed through their careers. They have also drafted & traded very well since that GF loss picking up Lobbe, Hartlett, Trengove & Broadbent in 07/08, Schulz & O'Shea in 09/10, Ebert, Wingard,Monfries & Wines in 11/12. Not to mention young players on their list in 2007 included Robbie Gray & Carlile. In a nutshell they had the nucleus and Hinkley just gave them direction and put some life back into the older players. They continually turned over their list and their younger players developed away from the AFL. The difference with us and Port is they traded, drafted and developed well when the expansion clubs came in and we didn't.

Round 6: East Perth vs Perth Headed to this game yesterday to have a look at the Sold Outs vs the Perth Demons. Perth's regular ruckman was out so with Paul Johnson & Callum Sinclair in the ruck the Demons were going to be up against it all day. The game never reached the heights of being a classic but with some rain making the ball greasy a solid contest was there for the 4 quarters. Clem Smith played the whole game on the HBF and without setting the world on fire I watched him closely and showed a lot of good signs. I noticed the senior players in the side and runners continually talking to him about always being aware of his opponent. Yes it looked to hamper his natural instincts but as the game wore on it looked to me that he learnt when was the right time to run and present and when to hang back. What I liked about SMITH was his aggression, he was given the job on Meth Coast listed livewire Malcolm Karpenny, who himself looks like a decent player. SMITH was constantly niggling KARPENNY and making him earn every possession. Due to the conditions there was plenty of stoppages and SMITH gave Karpenny no room at the stoppages and was always aware where he was. SMITH actually dished out several bumps and looked like he enjoyed it and wanted to hurt his opponent. He was controlled in some areas where you could see him closing in on a contest and could have absolutely lined his opponent up similar to Byron PICKETT but he held back somewhat and the bumps were all legal. SMITH played with a lot of smarts yesterday and whilst he did not have huge disposals he did not turn the ball over, when he had no team mate ahead when under pressure he avoided kicking aimlessly and hit space or forced another stoppage. On the occasions he took the game on and ran forward he used the ball well after running and carrying and delivering inside 50m to either a 1 on 1 or leading team mate. In the end the Demons whilst brave lost out and didn't create enough scoring opportunities when they had momentum. SMITH definitely won his contest with Karpenny and showed plenty of good signs. Does not have blistering pace, disposal is good without being elite but he is aggressive and loves to hit and hurt his opponent which is an asset. Wouldn't say at this stage he is a first rounder but showed a lot of good signs and will see if the improvement continues. Best for Perth was Cale Morton who played on the wing and occasionally floated across half back. Read the play well and found space and disposal was very good generally to a leading forward. Freddie Clutterbuck was good for East Perth but I only see a good WAFL player in him and don't see him taking the step up Johnson and Sinclair were the most influential players on the ground and Colledge was the best of Meth Coasts listed players Plan for round 7 is to see Subiaco vs Swans who are the two form teams and will get to see Brett Mahoney for you Dazzledavey

Zac Dawson and Andrew Dunkley say hello

Outs: Watts - should have went after last week but definitely needs at least a month at Casey Howe - the effort has been missing for the last two weeks (bar about 20 mins in last weeks second half) Byrnes - we have better options Terlich - can't fault his endeavour but the turnovers kill us Ins: Strauss/Clisby/Toumpas - 1 of these to either take Terlich's position down back or start as Sub and allow Salem to start the game Kent - if fit comes in to play between HFF with rotations through the middle Riley - another hardman required who can assist in the middle Garland - no brainer if he's fit he is in for some poise down back

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 6
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6.M Jones 5.Pedersen 4.Dunn 3.N.Jones 2.Vince 1.Jamar Cross and TMac are unlucky to miss out and some very good signs from JKH & Salem. -
Disappointed with the loss, but bring that intensity against the likes of GWS, Suns, Dogs, Tigers, Brissy, Saints, Blues & Meth Coast and your in with a shot of winning some games. Sydney are very well drilled and their run and spread is where we need to get to. Pretty sure by second half of season to seasons end those not doing the basic non-negotiables will be running around for Casey
-
Yes because its all about stats FFS putting his body on the line - yes shepherding/blocking - yes and lets also look at the quality of the disposals and his awareness
-
Bollocks those days are gone, take note from the improvement in Dunn, Pedersen & Jones. Players who put effort in will prosper under the new regime, they know what to look for in players
-
Just seen 10 minutes of him but boy he looks so good with the ball in his hand and keeps his feet well, not to mention bullet like quality disposal by foot. Christian Salem you look the goods already and play with purpose
-
You got that right and I'm going to start again it starts with small things You can't wear red or the lighter blue as your clash you have to wear white. Why Well red is a dark colour so all teams must have a light jumper and a dark jumper But on Anzac day when it is a Pies home game they wear predominantly black and the Bombers wear their normal jumpers We play Gold Coast at home and they can wear red We play Meth Coast away and have to wear white We play Meth Coast at home and they can wear the royal blue We get home games at shocking times and against sides who don't draw a decent crowd. I know we have been bad for a few years but FFS at least give us the opportunity for an open playing field in regard to fixtures, if no Friday nights than a fair amount of Saturday Arvo/Night games at the G I would think
