I saw the Pies live over here against Meth Coast and they were monstered by the Eagles talls. Fine weather predicted so IMO no real surprise with so many talls named. Concern for me is can Viney run with Priddis/Shuey or Gaff all day. I expect Cross and Jones to get run with roles on two of thse players and Vince or Bail to play as a defensive HF on Hurn. Viney will get one of theleft over mids

Well the boys flew in last night and I just had a quick chat with Nate Jones, who is just out on Langley Park having a kick with Gawny, Watts & Howe. You can see the ground from our building and I grabbed an MFC flag I had and they signed it for my young lad, hopefully that will be another incentive to keep him on board for a few years along with a solid effort on Saturday night

On Saturday managed to clear some things and went to the Perth vs East Perth game. The main draft prospect on show was Clem Smith but I have kept an eye on Thomas SHANAHAN since last year and he made his senior debut for East Perth. Both boys were impressive but for different reasons. The game was very physical and there was a large amount of late hits and a fair degree of spite. Clem Smith was very impressive in a severly undermanned side and out of character for him he didn't get drawn into the spite and concetrated on going hard at the ball when the opportunity arose. He was very smooth with the ball in hand and seemed oblivious to pressure, not that he lacked awareness it just did not cause him to get rid of the ball at all costs and cause a turnover. The composure and I would describe it as elite disposal was very much a highlight on a bleak day for the Perth Demons Shanahan came off the bench halfway through the first quarter and for the first few minutes I would say his nerves and enthusiasm had him making several long runs to space or a contest in his attempts to get involved in the action early. As he became acustomed to the tempo he started to read the play much better and after about 10 minutes with Perth attempting to hold possession across half back, Shanahan backed himself left his man and intercepted the defender awaiting a pass on Half back flank, he played on running toward goal and as the defender came to him, I expected him to handball over the top to the forward heading towards the goal square but he calmly slotted from 25m out with his first kick. Shanahan spent the majority of the game at HFF but had stints in the middle and continued to find his own ball. My only mark against him during the game was a willingness to allow the senior players to much respect. This is not a bad thing and showed he was not just looking on building up impressive stats. On several occassions he was the first tackler when senior team mates would come in over the top and once the free was awarded he would allow the senior player to pick up the ball and take the kick. He ended the game with a disposal count which would have been in the high teens and two goals, which could have been at least two more. I saw two direct goals when he handed off to a senior player demanding the ball when he could have easily run on and kicked his own but this will come. Shanahan and Smith went head to head for a short period and Smith tried to unsettle him with some hard body work but he was unfazed and just got on with his game. He probably done enough to hold his place but a lot depends on what the Meth Coast want done with their players. Will be very interested to see if he plays finals how he deals with the lift in intensity but on what I have seen with him Colts to Reserves was an easy transition and he will be right up there in the WAFL ressies B&F and he did not look out of place in his first outing Smith - One of the best displays I have seen from him, a recruiter said to me once, you learn a lot about a player in a weaker team when they are being soundly beaten. As I said above Smith was composed, ball use was elite, all decisions made were good, plenty of 1% efforts, kept his feet in traffic and read the play well. Could have easily thrown the towel in and got involved in the spite but just got on with his own game, if he keeps that up will go in the Top 25

I'm not so sure Old on that in Montagna, Newnes Dunstan, Steven, Savage, Billings, Acres, Curren, Armytage & Ross to play through the middle and rotate forward. I think they need a key position tall both forward and back far greater than we do. Although that is not to say we do not need another KPT but I think our need for mids is greater On Brayshaw, he was good not outstanding but ability to find the ball, use both sides of his body and decent tank. He will be a good solid AFL player no doubt but no obvious star quality. Having said that hopefully interview and other follow ups will estbalish his desire to succeed.

Nothing wrong with putting it on the Table Dazzle, you need to see what clubs are prepared to offer or talk about. GWS put Pick 1 on the Table last year I'm open to listening to offers and making the decision from there

But if he continues the way he is going we will get nothing come the end of 2015 IMO a second rounder is worth it. I also believe we really need to hit the draft hard in the same way Brisbane and St Kilda did last year, if we manage to get two first rounders than we can trade 1 of them for a ready made and a later pick but above all else we need to nail our opportunity this time

It actually not BS old dee seen it many times, it's players going into self preservation mode playing for their futures and not wanting to be the one making the mistake. In - Will to compete by all 22 and at the very least break even with their direct opponent Outs - My 7 year old has hung in and hasn't followed his older brother to another club. My boy is probably the only reason I am going this Saturday because he wants to see the Dees but he is wavering a bit and now supporting second sides (Freo because of his mates and Hawthorn because they are his teams colours). I believe a shocking performance by our boys on Saturday and there goes another young fan.

Really don't care who the 22 are once they run both ways, back up their team mates and do the basics leaving nothing out there. I'm the closest I have ever been to walking away from this club No amount of training the house down, pre-season performances or any spin they put on how our boys are doing will get me enthused until I start seeing the boys having a dip from Round 1 and in the proceeding weeks, because it is going to take at least half a dozen solid performances in the first two months next season for me to think we are heading in the right direction.

I seen Meth Coast sweat over the same decision with Andrew Mcdougall Not Pick 1 but in the Top four possibly Pick 2. He got and extended stay because big men take time and his pick justified him staying on the list. He showed no aggression or tenacity and was always worked off the ball one and one and didn't go hard at the contest. In the end they cut their losses as they also did with Sampi, sometimes you just have to make that tough decision, if it's a second round pick so be it. I've been a supporter of Jack but he will never reach his potential in this side, he is not what we need right now to get us out of our current situation but IMO time to make the move for both parties and if we get a second round pick take it

Yes but they have Boyd, Cooney, Gia, Morris and Griffen to provide leadership and class to help their younger players as they develop. No easy way out for us big ruthless cull roll the sleeves up and get it right. 2 more years of minimal improvement and we are fooked

He had a good weekend - loosing by 10 goals as well Garland played half a game in defence and kicked 1 goal. Dawes brings leadership, he is down on form at the moment but he was one of the main reasons for us being a lot better between rounds 4 and 14

Just saw the add will watch, I saw the Rev about 18 months ago in Leederville and said a quick hello and thanks for the memories of your era. Whilst I knew he was struggling health, very hard to imagine the man I saw on the add was the same man I spoke with 18 months ago. Best wishes to Neale and the Danniher family
