  1. Wow I must have skimmed that whole section as I remember reading the end once. You are 100% correct
  2. Collective Bargaining Agreement 9. First Year Draft Choice Players (f) When a First Year Draft Choice Player is first listed by an AFL Club, that Player and the AFL Club shall enter into a Standard Playing Contract for a minimum term of two years except in the case of a Player who has previously been listed as a Rookie at any AFL Club. 22. Player’s Contract 22.1 Standard Playing Contract (a) All contracts for the playing of Australian Football entered into between a Player, an AFL Club and the AFL shall be in the form of the Standard Playing Contract. (d) The parties to a Standard Playing Contract, which contract has not been terminated, may vary the terms of the contract or renew the contract for a further term/s, by written agreement of the parties. 22.2 Restructure of Standard Playing Contract (a) Subject to clause 22.2(b), the Parties agree that the Standard Playing Contract shall be restructured to apportion Players’ value for personal services, as distinct from the value for use of Players’ Image, with the restructured Standard Playing Contract to be in operation by no later than 1 November 2014, or such later date as agreed between the Parties. (b) The Parties shall jointly develop the guidelines to apply to the apportioning of players’ value after appropriate consultation with the Australian Taxation Office.
  3. It's because we are in a great position to front load contracts. We advertise they it's a contract extension. But that's not really accurate. It's more likely that we have renegotiated his original contract from 2 years to 4. Instead of paying him the standard new player salary for 2 years, we can pay him a heap more now and next year and then greatly lower the amount in the final year/s of the contract. Oliver wins because we give him a massive pay rise right now based on potential, and ends up getting paid slightly more than he would have by waiting. And we end up winning because we have front loaded the hell out of the contract a d have more to splash around later on. The big risk for the club is if Oliver doesn't kick on like expected, or if he gets a serious injury. There is a reason why his manager has recommended he takes it. It's a great deal for his client. The only reason why we can do this is because we have been rubbish for a decade and struggled to meet minimum salary cap spending. We have been employing this tactic for a long time now and won't be able to do it if all the young players on our list kick on like expected over the next few years. A good problem to have.
  4. What are these "lots of if's" you mention? "If he gets on the park" is the only one I can think of. And if he does then "yes" he is that good.
  5. If you get shouted down just say 'Screw you guys' and keep posting your opinion. You will likely find that the same posters who are 'shouting you down' agree with a lot of your other opinions. But if you are going to have a such a thin skin in relation to some random people on the internet not agreeing with you then this place isnt for you. The Melbourne Bigfooty boards are a bit more friendly and have some great posters, but it's too light on for content for me.
  6. is your post trying to correct mine? or are you agreeing with me? Your explanation is exactly the same as mine.
  7. I think you might have your figures wrong there SaberFang. We would be penalised in 2019 for only having used 1 pick within a 4 year period. 2015 = 2 (2) ------------------------- 2016 = 0 (2) 2017 = 0 (2) 2018 = 0 (2) 2019 = 1 (1) -------------------------- 2020 = 1 (2) We would need to use at least 1 first rounder in 2018 or somehow use 2 in 2019. But your point is the same. We dont have to use a first rounder for a while.
  8. I would guess it would be front loaded and going down yearly.
  9. Oh really? I read the article, but to be honest I thought it read like a well written post on here. I thought he must have been a demon supporter.
  10. Great work Andy! Can you explain how the sponsorship thing works? Do all players usually get sponsors? Do some miss out? What do the players get out of it? Does it effect the salary cap? Did the sponsorships come exclusivly through demonland members donations/membership fees? Or did you have to put in some cash yourself?
  11. He is right. If there is a player who is in our best 22 and they are fit they should play. I want to win every game. You play your best 22 to maximise the chance of winning.

  13. Oh my god they have 2 tall forwards and we have dropped 2 talls! Why don't I just shoot myself now. Our defense is terrible. Dunn is ommited, Good. Lumumba was dropped. Nah he was concussed. Well he would have been dropped anyway. We will win. No we won't. Michie is playing. Why isn't ANB? Garland? Wtf?
  14. I understand that people are worried about Lynch, but I cannot understand the angst from many on here re: Peter Wright. Yes. He is tall.
  15. I'm glad he got it out of the way. He had a lot of nerves in the first half.
  16. Pies are right about the AFL logo though. Why does it need to be so prominant on the front?
  17. God that was a bad look. Most of the time he was fairly bumped off the ball too.
  18. That Webster kid is a weapon. Goes under the radar because he plays at one of the smaller clubs.
  19. It would be the start of the greatest thread on demonland ever. The Jack Viney made me retire thread.
  20. I remember a game a few years ago with the same situation. It was Brian Taylor commentating and he reckoned there was still time. Bruce and Dennis are the best. They always make it seem like the underdog can come back until it is obvious that they can't. Then they heap praise on the winning team.
  21. We have traded away our first round pick already. There will be only a few of us who will look forward to the draft. Many have already started discussing the trade period though.
  22. I don't post on bigfooty, but head over there every so often. The main page conversations always deteriorate quickly, but the Melbourne board is pretty good. There isn't the constant fighting and clash if opinions like there is here which is nice. I read a thread on there once about demonland and many of them had started posting here but got shotdown. RhinoRichards name was mentioned alot.
  23. Andy Mac on bigfooty had a lunch function this week with special guest Simon Goodwin. He has written a heap of info in this bigfooty thread. Page 4 post 99 is where it starts and continues over the next few pages. https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/26-sam-weideman.1118179/page-4 I would copy and paste all the relevant info but am on my phone and there are a lot of posts.
  24. Hey Everyone, Caro has written a great article about our very own Daisy Pearce. Daisy Pearces' Star Continues To Rise
