We back? From AFL game day - St Kilda scored 26 of its 29 points from forward half intercepts. Melbourne score just six of its 25 points from this source.

Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.

So he needs to work on his kicking at practice? You do realise that is exactly what he was doing on the weekend? His kicking is terrible. But its not going to get better unless he improves at training and then test it out in PRACTICE games. Sunday was not a good sign but at least he is working on it. Lets cool the jets until he does it in the main event. -

Yep. Or we could get upset because he missed targets at practice and needs to work on his kicking at practice. Even though he made the mistakes at practice. Wait a min..... -
They are not far behind him OD. Not far at all. (well Matt Jones was a bit of a sneaky addition) It's confusing as in the article it states that he will be playing wing and then later HFF. If it is wing then I agree with you a bit. I would hope that Stretch could push for that position. The only selling point for Grimes is his endurance. If it is HFF then I would have a heap of players ahead of him. We really are missing a few outside types on our list. This change of position reminds me Fitzy's move to the backline last year. The coaches had given up on him as a forward and it was a last ditch effort to get something out of him. The writing was on the wall. Edit: Also, Grimes doesnt really remind me of a modern winger. Wing usually has pace. Imagine Grimes lining up on Lewis Jetta or Wellingham. Plus he doesnt have the disposal to really hurt the opposition. Ideally, we wouldnt have traded for Melksham and then we could have picked up Ryan Clarke who went to the Roo's.

I doubt many on here have him in their best 22, which makes him a borderline best 22 player on a wing/HFF. Who else do we have? Petracca, Stretch, Harmes, Mitchie, Watts and Matt Jones will all be competing for that spot as well. He will have plenty of competition. I hear he is having a very good preseason and look forward to seeing what he can do.

Yep, but my memories of Grimes best were being able to read the play well and shutting down incoming attacks whilst knowing when to run off his man and provide an option. His best is good enough and would certainly make him best 22 in most teams. But I would never ever describe Grimes as a player who could break games open. Its simply not his thing. Happy for others to disagree. Maybe after 10 years of losing my brain has altered my memories. However, I do agree that Melksham leaving gives him a chance. I said after we picked up Bugg that Grimes should see the writing in the wall and request a trade. I really hope he can get back to his best because he is Melbourne through and through, but I dont have much room for 1 paced, average disposal, poor decision maker in my best 22. -

A 193cm utility whose top-up year in the TAC Cup was cruelled by an ankle injury that restricted him to just two outings for the Dandenong Stingrays this year. He played mainly for his local club at Bonbeach, but the recruiters were intrigued enough to ask that he play in the Young Guns game last August. Usually a ruck/forward, he played at centre half-back and showed promise running the ball out of the backline. -

Seems to have great hands based off the highlights. His disposal actually looks good 2nd time watching. I keep expecting him to shank it as his ball drop looks slowish. But he hits a target and makes good desicions. His marking was great and good hand ball skills. I quite pleased we picked up some talls late. -

Dont mind this pick at all. We know the draft tapers off here and have taken some talls to develop. He only played a few games this year. -

Highlights package doesnt look too bad. He is a big boy. Broad. Looks a bit like Spencer but seems to have better decision making. (based off highlights of course. take with a grain of salt) Link to highlights -
