Because of the concussion concerns? Or just rate Lever higher? I want to try and keep our good players together.

They would likely get a first round compo pick by waiting for him to be picked up as a free agent. No way would pick 18 be enough

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
BAMF replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
How would it be ironic? -
It always was.
-
Whoa! whoa! Steve! whats happening buddy. Stay the course!

That's where we differ then. I don't think he is just a solid defender. If we went to the draft and took a guy as good as Lever with pick 10 then you would be over the moon. Well... I would be. That's why I think it will cost more than pick 10. History of Pick 10 2000 - Jordan McMahon, Western Bulldogs. 2001 - Sam Power, Western Bulldogs. 2002 - Jason Laycock, Essendon. 2003 - Ryley Dunn ,Fremantle. 2004 - Chris Egan, Collingwood. 2005 - Marcus Drum, Fremantle. 2006 - Nathan Brown, Collingwood. 2007 - Patrick Dangerfield, Adelaide. 2008 - Phil Davis, Adelaide. 2009 - Jake Melksham, Essendon. 2010 - Daniel Gorringe, Gold Coast. 2011 - Toby Greene, GWS. 2012 - Joe Daniher, Essendon. (Father Son) 2013 - Nathan Freeman, Collingwood. 2014 - Nakia Cockatoo, Geelong. 2015 - Harry McKay, Carlton. 2016 - Jack Bowes, Gold Coast. 4 players from 16 years that I would be happy with. 1 of them was a father son.

Pick 10 won't be enough. Dreaming if you think it will be.

VFL 1st Qualifying Final - Williamstown v Casey Demons
BAMF replied to Drunkn167's topic in Melbourne Demons
Oh yeah? how good are we talking? He's 29 years old, but if he is giving Spencer a bath then we can delist Spencer and pick Messe up as a rookie. -
I don't know what to do with myself. Usually I can just focus on the draft, but it means SFA now. Coming to Demonland feels like going to your ex's Facebook just after breaking up. Heartbreaking and sad. I'm leaving this site for awhile.

Its like a bad dream that you have all week. You know everything is about to go wrong and you have no control of it. You have this shocking feeling in the pit of your stomach all week. The weekend arrives, and you are forced to watch, realising that the bad dream is not a bad dream at all... it's a reality that you are living, and once again you have no control.

So gutted. Ninth. Richmond are third, and we are ninth. How much pain can we take? Seriously?
-
Wow. We need to play a finals this year to give some of these guys experience in big games. So many of our boys played so bad. Pedersen, Jones, Hannan, Harmes, Tmac, slOwMac, Gawn. Even Hibberd and Jetta didnt play well.
-
any news on Hogan? Edit: Hammy. are you [censored] kidding me? FML
-
Last play of the game. Bartram in the middle hand balls straight to an umpire. I don't think I'll ever forget it.
-
We play better without him because it forces us to lower our eyes.
-
So he will go from being a back up for Gawn to a backup for Ryder. Hardly seems like a great career move. The problem is that no one would be promising him the first ruck position.
-
First round pick and Frost for Lever. Done. I'm surprised others are even thinking twice.
-
There were rumours after the draft that pies were into him. Either last year or this year there was a feature article on him and it confirmed it. It didnt say when the pies were going to take him.
-
Pies where into him.

The fixture is [censored]. How is it fair that Vic based clubs travel 5 or 6 times a year and other state based teams have to travel 10? Collingwood travelled 5 times this year. West Coast 10. How is that even remotely fair?
-
Yes. If a trade breaks down, the player has a few options. (With examples) 1. National Draft. (Luke Ball to Collingwood) 2. Pre Season Draft. (Nick Stevens to Carlton) 3. Sign with current club. (Dustin Martin potential move to GWS) 4. Delisted / Retire. Mal Michael retired and was then drafted in the preseason draft by Essendon. This resulted in Brisbane being shafted without any compensation. Pretty sure the delisted free agency rules were written with this in mind and the player cannot be signed as a free agent if there was a contract offered by the current club. Happy to be proven wrong on the last point.
