Buddy?
Good point. Maths is the same as its based off the number of years Diamond Jim proposed and a ten year contract which he is actually on. However that does mean that he has in his 6th year and has another 4 to go. That's a long time left to be paying over 1 million per year. Would any club take that contract over? I don't think so
-
Buddy?
His reported contract is 10 million over 10 years. Under your scenario... 2013-2017 : 5 x 1.1million = $5,500,000 2017-2020: 3 x 1.2million = $3,600,000 Total = $9.1million So yeah, in hindsight not too bad. But you only have him contracted till 2020 when you could reduce it right down or more likely let him retire. Plus you would much prefer this option as a club when signing as you get to renegotiate in 2017. The AFL advised at the time of the trade that Buddy's salary would stay in the salary cap even if he retires prematurely (which they will probably go against). If he is forced to retire at the end of this year (as you say unlikely but possible), he will be chewing over a million per year for the next three years. That's huge. Sydney have been lucky that he has been able to produce at such a high level for so long. It really could have been a lot worse. They took a punt and it has largely paid off, but it was outrageous at the time.

Buddy?
Indeed. It was outrageous at the time. I hope they back ended the hell out of it. He is 32 years old, unable to train, is starting to lose his long kicking and has another 4 years to go.

Worried
Funny. I have exactly the same feelings. I had high hopes for the season but I am surprisingly Zen about us having a bad year. A lot has to go right to win the whole thing. I'm not going to worry too much. We should be worried about any team with strong outside run. The Saints should be sh!tting themselves about our contested fire power. They have Ross and Stelle on the inside.

Jack Martin
There is something about Jack Martin that doesn't sit right with me. Perhaps it's his consistency. He has this seemingly limitless potential but never produces week to week.

Illicit Drug Use in AFL
It's [censored] isnt it? It has been the modus operandi within the AFL for a number of years now. Anyone remember when Gary Lyons affair became public knowledge? First thing done is say that he has mental health problems and to please respect his privacy. A player at our club has mental health issues and has to take some time away from the game. Said player gets traded to another team first opportunity. AFL report comes out explaining how good their policy is because they have identified x amount of players who are using drugs and either removed them from the game or had them move to another environment. Its just [censored] for the people who do suffer from mental health and have struggled under the stigma of it all for years. Now finally some awareness is going on and the AFL community is using it as a 'dont ask questions' approach.

Illicit Drug Use in AFL
Gotta love this one. In my news feed yesterday were 2 articles in a row from Nick. 1. Drug use is out of control. 2. Drugs use not an issue when I was captain

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM SPARROW
Was just watching the Suns draft night trade on the AFL website. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2018-12-12/draft-night-drama-suns-play-highstakes-game-to-get-their-man At around the 3 min mark they start discussing trading up to get Jez Mclennan and when Stuart Dew asks who will be left if at their next picks (26 & 31) if they dont trade up. Craig Cameron mentions Sparrows name but I they clearly dont rate him as high as Mclennan. They also thought we would take Valente if we had the chance.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
Let's not sugar coat it. He was a steak knives part of the May trade for a reason. I wouldn't be judging his ability based on any games he played this year. The last two seasons have been pretty much written off by concussion concerns. His junoir years and first few years at the Sun's were good and he showed his elite disposal and decision making skills. He would have been very frustrating as a fan as he would show patches of great play and then could go completely missing for large periods of games. He often struggles to get the ball but when he does he can use it extremely well. We will be hoping that he can get his confidence back or he won't get anywhere. He has been in the system for 5 seasons now and will be reaching his prime physically. He had the skills we want and plays in a position we lack depth in. He cost us very little and in my opinion is a great pickup for us. It's similar to the Dean Kent trade for the saints. They knew that they could get him cheap as chips and if he gets a good run with injury, his form and ability will far exceed the price they paid. It will be a bargain. If not.. well they gave up bugger all for him so no big loss. Kade is the same for us. If he puts it all together in a good environment then we could have an excellent player for very little.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Who told you though? A friend who knows May well? Someone who you remotely know who remotely knows May? Someone who is involved in football at AFL level? A person who knows Judds Grandma? Stuies facebook page? Not asking you to name your source, just for a bit more clarity of where the info is coming from?

Who are our bottom six? And where do they rate?
Glad to see im not the only one who thinks Harmes has gone past Petracca. A fully fit Viney would be 3rd behind Gawn/Oliver. No way Jones is in our top 6 players anymore. I will come back and provide a 22 when I have more time.

Andrew Gaff
They won't even bother blaming anyone else Clint. They will move on to the next rumour and act like nothing has happened. The public love this stuff so much that they won't care and move on just as quick.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
Nobody can train on the MCG. If you got there during the week you will see why. There are these solar devices that are all over the field to simulate the required sunlight that the grass needs. Cam Schwab posted it on his twitter once.

Demons on Masterchef (16/5/18)
As an ex chef with some mates and old colleagues who have appeared on the show, I 100% second all of this.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
I checked Oscars highlights the other day. They were pretty good (not as good as Petty's in my opinion). His disposal looked good at that level. He played forward a fair bit in them though. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-11-27/pick-53-highlights-oscar-mcdonald

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
I've been around here for awhile now. While the signs do look good, its still to early to tell. Similar things were said on here about Craig Cameron when he was our recruiter. While I dont think he did a bad job, he certainly got talked up here until things went sour. Edit: Also helped that Craig posted on here every so often! I always appreciated that.

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Was he rated that highly by a lot of people?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
You have come round to TMac playing forward then? I did a best 22 the other day and the question marks were TMac fwd. OMac and Frost as the KPDs.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - OSKAR BAKER
Yeah! There will a couple who slide. Just hope it's someone we want. Have you seen Garner much? He was in first round calculations at the start of the year but seems to be one who will potentially slip to our picks.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Quite happy to start rotating it. Thanks Collingwood for letting us have it while we were sick. We're better now.

Jack Petruccelle
Personally, i am still dealing with the W purge from the early 2000s. Woewodin, White, Ward, Wheatley, Walsh, Whelan, Wizard Started feeling better when we got Watts and Wonamerri, but now i'm distraught again.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
At the time of my post I did not realise we got pick 35 back. We traded less than Collingwood did for Treloar and in my opinon have won the trade. Totally disagree with the 'Treloar is a garden variety mid' comment.
