I wouldn't be too worried if it didn't happen this year. End of next year maybe? Roos stays for 3 full years and still manages a 2 year handover period.

Mahoney's reconfirmation that pick 2 is on the table tells me that our efforts of attracting any decent FA's is SFA. Furthermore, our abilty to trade with other clubs on a 'needs basis' is limited due to our ordinary list. As much as it pains me to say it, Sylvia is a must keep if we're at this point already. Chapman will add something if he comes across but he's into his 30's now and struggled with injury this year. Other FA's that have not had the success like Chapman will be looking for a club challenging for a top 4 spot, not a cellar dwellar. We' are ugly and nobody wants to dance with us. Ed: Daniel Cross will be a great inclusion and I hope we have him convinced.

If Ross Lyon was not Freo's coach I would agree. Lyon even stated that the Swans were sitting ducks last weekend so I'm sure he's got the message across to the players that this game is going to vastly different and much, much harder.

When Roos looked doubtful many here jumped on to the Williams bandwagon if they weren't on it already. As good as Choco may have been/still is as a coach, he was never going to be able to bring about the exposure and attraction that Roos does. This coupled with his intelligence and massive network of class associates just crystalizes his appointment as being the absolute correct choice. In securing Roos, Jackson's 'doggedness' as Roos aptly put it, will remain as one of the more admirable pieces of work that's been done at the MFC for quite some time.
