  1. All of which could have been expressed in one classic line... "opinions are like $%@% everybody has one"
  2. And i thought a week was a long time in footy RR!
  3. Moon you do realise those that are against him being selected will completely ignore what you just posted and keep up the barage that he is no good on the inside, too skinny etc etc.
  4. Not many players have an immediate impact when they first step up to a senior level of footy. Kicked 6 in one match at reserve level... Doesn't find much ball? ..quality small forward don't need to find alot of it and tend not to a la Jeffy, Cyril etc to make a quality impact. How often have we heard the phrase "give me 15 quality touches vs 30 that are mostly rubbish or result in mostly turnovers anyday". You can't compare him to anyone at AFL level at this point (statistically) ...he hasn't played. Rediculous comparison. What attributes does he have well let me name a few... > Has a great leap ...equal 9th in the running jump at combine. Can take an awesome specky and also alows him to keep the ball alive in the air at times (eg; tapping a high bouncing ball or one off a pack to advantage) or defend from behind if needed. > Doesn't lose his feet easily > Fierce tackler > Great follow up second efforts including repeat tackles > knows where the goals are (sixth sense off one or two steps) and clever at reading / waiting off the ball and crumbing. > Bides his time just outside the main scrum sweating on the spillage or loose ball without getting sucked into the contest. If he already has all this at his tender age....imagine how much further upside there is with a few pre-seasons and experience at the highest level.
  5. He still gets to follow his media career as desired DF. This is a part time role that will occur mostly in the off season allowing him to pursue his other role during season proper. Nonetheless this is vg news in terms of the calibre of (ex) player offering his services, knowledge base and especially his cred to a playing group much in need of a serious injection of kicking skills. Hopefully he can fix some of the stuff above the head as well, which probably accounted for a pretty high percentage of some of the faults that were on display in 2019.
  6. Young at 3 Stephens at 8 If for some reason we miss then it's Kemp and barring those two Kozzie. If we split the pick we more than likely miss all three. Just get the best available unless a fairy tale pick swap/scenario presents on the night. Would need to be 10 and an early 20ish to have any chance of landing a dynamic double in say Stephens/Kemp (likely to be 7ish to 11ish) + Kozzie (20ish).

  9. Will more than likely go 15 to 25 now. Was mis-rated early on and now getting some serious attention. He is worth every bit of pick 8 if we somehow miss Stephens and Kemp There are no other stand outs beyond those two and Young that offer the X factor/goal kicking potential of Kozzie.
  10. Smoke rises to the top 247....the drums are beating & ppl are noticing. He was rated poorly early on imv. Time for everyone to re-assess and looks like some have already done so.
  11. If Stephens goes before 8 i don't see why not. There are no other clear stand outs beyond Young and we need a small forward with major X factor, which Kozzie has in spades. Kemp is a goer but the year out with the knee is a put off for me given we need immediate goal scoring power.
  12. Young is a lock at 3 with a fair margin between him and the rest. They wont be splitting it and only a fool would give up Young. The FD (with a huge shove from Macca) backed their other 2nd KF horse (Weid) years ago and made it known they were all in it together on his re-signing till 2021 and, barring a repeat of 2019 (from Weid), need to live with that call and build the team around him and T-mac as the two KFs until his contract is up.
  13. If we grab both of those, we get Bennell up by about the half way mark .... Add another genuine key forward to assist T-Mac if Weid doesn't come on by year's end. Two quality smalls (assuming we don't split pick 8 and miss Kozzie). Solid rebound this year with a potential finals stint. All going well and those extra recruits at the end of 2020...premiership window well open in 2021.
  14. Not at all. Quid pro quo. Bennell gets to train at a club he would like to end up with (for at least $1k per week) and we get to try before we buy. Personally i would think both parties have already settled on an in-principal signing and contract terms post a 'lead up trial period/assessment' over a few weeks ie; from 1st Dec through till whenever that is, for want of an official date lets say it's end of Dec per Leoncelli36's mail.
  15. I doubt the club would risk him on an unpaid training trial as it would leave us open to him going elsewhere but it would also not be the greatest option for Bennell either as he would then need to nominate himself in the pre-season draft where he could be picked up by anyone. Even someone other than who he has trained with second up. Once he trains (unpaid) with more than one club he must nominate for the draft and can't be rookied. And if everyone knows we've rejected him they would be thinking twice in a big way, lessening his chances to land anywhere or with a club of preference in a best case scenario under that option. Highly unlikely and something he would have been advised to avoid by his manager imv and something we would unlikely agree to. Would be very surprised if this is anything but an all or nothing 'paid' gambit by both parties. Both parties have in effect gone 'all-in'.
  16. My understanding/best guess is that Harley is on an all-in "paid" training arrangement, which means he can only be selected by the club he is training with. We are paying him on the proviso that, provided he does not have a further 'major' break down (say surgery is required vs a lessor evil such as a bit longer in recovery/rehab off the track), then we will confirm him as an SSP rookie. The SSP commences 1 Dec and finishes 15 March so we would need to confirm him on the rookie list prior to the 15th. All going well I assume we will nominate him well before the 15th and more than likely before the year is out as per 36's mail. It would not surprise me if both parties have already settled on some key dates including an 'all's well - tick the final box' nomination date. He is ours or nobody's from here is my best guess and only nobody's due to another major (Lucifer forbid) setback. Fingers, toes and tail crossed!
