Similar ..."on the couch" is not too bad although i find Gazza can be good and bloody awful all in the one show. Him and Roo seem to always be in disagreement as well lol. What happened to the couch though!?? The game day analysis on the Couch is probably the best of the lot although Lloydy and Browny on the Sunday show also do a pretty good job of highlighting aspects of what went right/wrong on the day and methods of attacking/defending etc. Front bar is purrty good most of the time especially if they land a big fish like Carl or Jakovich etc. Sam Pang is a classic and so quick that half his jokes go over most ppls heads. He also sometimes asks "elephant in the room" questions of AFL officiados that the average fan is wondering/wanting to ask on occasions that most would never dare and is able to get away with it.

Caro: Are the Demons the Real Deal in 2021?
Demon Dynasty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree Deever....shut the door and leave it to the media team. We've done way too much talking over the years. With such a good start it's easy to get ahead of things. Have fun sure and enjoy your footy as a player but take as little notice of the external noise as possible. No distractions....soldier on. Next target is a hairy old [censored] cat. -
Caro: Are the Demons the Real Deal in 2021?
Demon Dynasty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This week will give us a much better indication Dr. Very happy with the start but still room for improvement in terms of protecting the corridor on the counter and finding a KF target who is also a reliable multiple goal kicker. I agree we have to be careful not to get too carried away as well, however in general things are looking as good as they've been since 2018 from where i'm sitting. But look how that ended. We need to keep building and improving to ensure this is a lasting dynasty and not a flash-in-the-pan anomaly. With a bit of luck hopefully this includes going one step further than 2018. -
Agree Tmac is much better suited to a big ground like the G DFA. As i said bit of a coin flip as to the output of him or Majak. Possibly save Majak for a smaller oval appearance like Marvel and/or against a lessor rated opponent to give him a decent confidence crack. Maybe against his old club Norf in Rnd 7 would be ideal if TMac's form is off. BB hopefully back by then also so he will obviously be a priority in vs any other KF we have on the list if ready.

I would rather sacrifice Sparrow / ANB and/or Viney and give them the giant migraine of how to cover the dynamic duo (Clarry & Tracc)
-
Sparrow and ANB (shared role) to Guthrie?

I think we really need to try and go as quick as possible early and try run the pants off this mob to give our forwards a fair crack at posting a score early and get a decent break on them. Their general pressure rating isn't that high early in a game as they are probably looking to do the same to their opp for Nev. Rivers covering one HBF nicely and providing a bit of speed there on the counter but we need to take it up a notch again. I would be adding Hibb to the other HBF here for The only other spot up for grabs at the wide expanse of the G imv is TMac. However, is he worth another roll of the die or do we risk bringing in MD for a fresh change up? I'm not sold on either at this point and one could probably flip a coin here for a likely similar output on the day. I'm a bit if a gambler though so i'd probably throw Majak into the mix to give a different look / modus to our forward line and see if we can find a more lethal KF option prior to BB returning. No other changes imo.

I agree Chook. I've never seen a player so despondent coming from the ground after a win, aside from possibly a badly injured one who might miss a big final or heaps of matches/out for the rest of season. He had so many chances and was just no where near it tonight. The few touches he got were high up the ground on the wing. The one area that could be used as an excuse was the fact we rarely won the ball from the middle and got it in to the 50 quickly. Change this last part, which frees up the leading lanes somewhat, and things might have been a bit diff for him tonight.
-
Jetta has def lost half a yard or more and once the ball gets behind or his opponent is out the back he looks to be in big trouble. If Hibb is cherry ripe he has to be given serious consideration to replace surely?

I agree with this but the problem is the FD appear to be grooming him as a potential back up defender so far in the VFL warm ups. I believe he has potential to fill the 3rd tall forward role as a medium mobile tall (IF he can stay on the park) but unlikely to be trialled there this season given the above!??

Firstly and most importantly ...GET STUFFED UMPS WHO TRIED TO MURDER US TONIGHT WITH REDICULOUS FREES SUCH AS THE DELIBERATE AGAINST MAY, THE INSANE BUNT FROM MAY TOWARDS A BOUNDARY UMP WHO RAN PAST IT WITH MAY GETTING PINGED AND THE PUSH OUT THAT WASN'T THERE FOR GREEN. YET WHEN THE TABLES WERE TURNED AND THE SAME FREES SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN AGAINST THE GIANTS THEY WERE OF COURSE COMPLETELY IGNORED. THE TWO MOST OBVIOUS ONES....BUNTINE A MILE IN THE CLEAR AND KICKS IT OUT OF BOUNDS WITH NO GIANT WITHIN 10 METERS & FRITTA CLEARLY COLLARED AROUND THE NECK ON THE LEAD WHICH WOULD HAVE SEEN HIM HAVING A SHOT FROM 35 OUT. Dare i say it.... we are no longer irrellevant and making up the bottom half. Just need BB to get in ASAP. TMac is a trier but he can't handle 1st or 2nd tall "Quality" defenders. We are also still one medium tall bullocking mobile marking goal kicking forward short like a Josh Bruce or a Stringer type. Weid is not the answer imho but happy to be proven wrong. Kozzie you bloody beauty mate. Thank god we went against the grain to get this bloke. Exactly what we needed. Tracc needs a reset and has regressed somewhat so far this season imv. Clarry FCS learn how to kick a goal mate. Even if that means kicking bananas around the body a la Stevie J. Maxxy what a game son. Vintage stuff! Hunt & Ed were superb again. May another solid performance given how quick the ball was coming in at times. Gus was on and played a great mop up game but also pressured beautifully. Goody fix the clearance issue / first use around center stoppages/ball ups pls mate. We are getting beaten to the drop and lead to the ball far too often and when we do get it we are over using the ball or hand balling when a long lick inside 50 would be more damaging. Just get it in quickly when under pressure especially early in the match when the heat is on. We started to do a bit more rush/knock & kick it off the ground forward a little more in the 2nd half utilising Max's knock ons a little better but we are looking a bit of a shambles through the middle at the moment. Even defending, we are allowing opp defenders to take the corridor in numbers, running in waves far too often. I realise it's alot harder ro do this for the entire match with the new manning the mark rule but surely we can protect the corridor a little better/more often than we are at present and push them out towards the boundary more often. All in all a gritty solid win coming from behind but we so often make the odd wrong choices under not much pressure at crucial times that brings the opp back into the game and gives them a sniff and killing our momentum / fuelling theirs (Tracc & Lever the culprits tonight).
-
2nd time in two games Tracc has gotten hands to the ball in the middle with clean service from Max then hospital hand balls backwards to a man who is well covered instead of turning and kicking the ball inside 50 or out wide to a runner. Cost us a goal both times. Last week it was a backward hospital hand ball towards Viney who had no hope of getting it for a goal to the Saints. FCS get rid of the "Hollywood" Tracc.

I guess it could've be worse uncle. There's always Dewar's!
-
That seems so out of character uncle. And i'm seeing that as an "unlike us" omen for this match. Demons by 7 at a canter.

Thanks 58

Good summary especially a bit messy up forward. Clear out that forward line a little and try and get a tall (Bannan/Zanker/Gay/Cunningham) with a small (Hanks!?) one out where possible on occasions. A bit too congested deep most of the time. Lead out and drag a few defenders away from the hot zone might work better. Freo did fold a spare down back when they were against the breeze though which no doubt added to the congestion woes so not all our doing. If i may also add... While maintaining possession is important, especially against the breeze, when you get a quick hand ball receive in congestion from a stoppage (and we did get a fair few..nicely done girls) and there's even a small window to go long with a big breeze at your back in a dangerous launching area of the ground (ie, about the back of the square and forward from there) just go the long option under severe pressure pls (when there's little time/space!). One too many extra hand balls in these scenarios cost us from gaining crucial yardage on a few occasions with the breeze and allowed Freo a few extra entries into their 50 against it. Mind you they'll probably not play in such a howler for the remainder of the finals so you can throw the 'go long under pressure once clear" option out the window lol.

Best from where i sat behind the southern end goals... Gay, Pearce (especially the last quarter where she refused to concede and kept getting to contests / clearing the ball), Cunningham, Hanks, Zanker (who almost pulled off a great speckie in the last (her and hanks a bit wasteful at times though. Especially when Zanker marked well about 50 out, breeze at her back, just had to get it in long and quick to Bannan deep one on one for a chance to seal it, but instead took forever to dispose allowing numbers back then kicked it shallow to the pocket for zero return), Paxman, Parry, Scott, Birch and Mithen. Maddie probably BOG. Paxman was in everything as always but i have a feeling she was double teamed a bit around the stoppages. The biggest tactical mistake for the day, kicking and running the ball early in the third for about the first five minutes to the club wing, allowing Freo the opportunity to rebound with a four to five goal breeze (AFL equivelant) at their back vs the outer side where they had to kick into the breeze a little with less accuracy and a little less distance. Thankfully the girls appeared to wake up to this flaw after Freo's first goal and started kicking / running it out along the far wing from then. All up they did well to score in both the first and third quarters against the howler and kick away a little in the last 5 minutes in what was a scrappy ugly game in blustery fickle conditions. Nice win indeed Demons!

Its the same Suns just a slightly improved one. They come out of the blocks looking pretty decent and fresh early but in the end they're mostly a meat & potatoes club with a sprinkling of talent. The bulk just aren't up to the contest even against the mediocre teams. Good effort but in the end they lose too many crucial one on ones, especially through the middle, while continuing to bomb it long to the same spots about 30 to 40 out from goal making it too easy for the opp to defend inside 50. Over a decade of plowing millions of dollars in to this mob and they still haven't won a match in Adelaide. What a rediculous waste of resourcez and time by Gil & Co. Would rather see a Tassie team in any day for GWS & GC. Tassie Govt should follow through with their threat to cancel the Hawks & North arrangement if the AFL doesn't come to the party and do us all a favour.
