  1. Which is exactly what the AFL wants. Gil referring to the upcoming GF as the dream match up. Teams like us, Norf and the Aints get further and further away from any chance of a flag every season and unless they (we) pull off a once in a half century miracle where the stars align, a la the Doggies in 2016, one can completely forget about winning anymore silverware under the present circus.
  2. The Circus continues
  3. Hoping the club can update this one in my lifetime .... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/703096230376177/
  4. Inconsistent? I had him down as our most consistent all year rain, hail or shine regardless of how the rest of his team mates were performing. Mostly not as well. Should have won the Bluey quite comfortably with Tracc and May not too far behind in no particular order.
  5. Have to go big to get big LH. The next step after landing a Langdon, May & Lever (Lever the only player we paid overs for from those three imo) is to land a super big fish (yes for overs on either the $ and/or the term a la Buddy) and standard fair for the others needed to fill other needs. Lessor lights can't be expecting past remuneration given the new lower revenue base and won't be receiving it (in the main) with 2021+ contracts either in a post covid world.
  6. I don't believe in perpetual fairy tales either TU but when it comes to 'needs based' recruiting there couldn't be a more obvious target that suits the bill more perfectly for us in the now (2021/22) than Cameron. We are also in an ideal window and a perfect fit for him as well. We should, at the very least, be throwing our hat in the ring and getting down and dirty with his player manager even IF the door is ajar a smidgen. A KF will be the thing that turns the fortunes around at the MFC. We are on the cusp just as the Tigers were in 2016, subject to topping up with a few extras. I'd be kicking it down even if it wasn't ajar until the manager boarded up the doors & windows.
  7. I'm not that naive TU and there's plenty of cynicism (hoopla!??) in what i said....but...then there's the bleeding obvious and to me this one has been sitting out there like bull's balls for a mighty long time. The good / great clubs know what they need to take the next step and more often than not land the big fishes required to take them to finals/remain there or push into the top 4 / vie for a GF/flag. Unfortunately we appear to be right out of the mix for the marquee players (potentially up for trade) more often than not and our name is rarely mentioned when the heat is on in the trade period. Instead we see teams like the Cats, who hardly need any more assistance (in this case another KF as they already have Hawkins) front and centre, touting in the press that they are in to Cameron in a big way. That should be the MFC. Our need is much greater than theirs yet we're seemingly not even in the race. This is not a one off and history tells us we've been asleep at the wheel for many decades in this area going all the way back to when Bobby Davis stole Doug Wade out from under our nose in the late 60s.
  8. The papers need banners & the print to keep flowing even when there's no story RB. Especially where the Hun (aka Collingwood's unofficial rag) are concerned.

  10. If there is any truth to that then Bartlett, Goody and the whole bloody board / FD should walk ....now. Never has a club needed a genuine KF more than the MFC right now. It should be our No.1 priority and Cameron front & centre. We should have been in to this bloke from early this season or late last. Now all the info here could of course, be complete bunkum and i'll be happy to eat humble pie if we land Cameron. However, on past form and if i'm a betting man, i would say the MFC is about to completely miss the boat for the umpteenth time during its 50 odd years and growing of on field failure. And going after Smith hard instead? The last person we need. Seriously if this is the case pack your bags fellas and enjoy your retirement.
  11. Surely he was aware of this and accepted it or he wouldn't have accepted the contract terms (ie; gone for a shorter length) and/or not signed the contract.
  12. There has to be something inherently wrong inside the four walls if we can't hang on to a head of fitness guy who's under contract.
  13. Haha... not even on the radar Jack. GWS version ty
  14. This could be just a "growing up...maturing, see the light moment" for Jack LH. And why not. Let's just pontificate for a moment. Clarry (if he stays) and Tracc come into 2020. The pennies drop and the stars align. They both decide to knuckle down and they do. Starting to have some break out, match winning or turning moments/games. More so in the case of Tracc. A little in the case of Clarry changing "the method/style" in which he plays. More run away from stoppages, more kicking to advantage (meters gained etc) vs dinky handballs to players a meter or so away in congestion, inviting even more heat on those players. Picking up a stat but effectively a blight on the way you need to play and clear congestion effectively. So...what's the next step in their progression? To play selfless, team first footy? Bring and look to bring others in to the game or play to their advantage where possible thereby benefiting the team as a whole. Team focussed, selfless footy. Stop any show pony rubbish and play to win. Now i'm sure we've seen a fair bit of that at times this season, from both. But at other times maybe not. Less so from Clarry but still a bit of hollywood from Tracc on odd occasions. Watch Danger.....he just goes and always assesses/looks for the best team option. Maybe this is the level we need to see and that will turn these two from very good players to great players/leaders? My only issue with all that is that Jack needs to also follow his own lead....IF this is what he's saying. The charge through a pack at most opportunities without looking to give off to a first option on instinct, is too often his worst (own) enemy for my liking. He seriously needs to work on and fix this aspect of his game style. If i'm Goodwin i would be looking to play him as a medium/small forward about 70% of the time next season. Minor time through the middle. Give him the responsibility of maintaining the ball in our forward 50 and kicking as many opportunistic goals as he can. At the moment, playing so much time in the middle, is a liability to the progression of our mid field. If Goodwin can't see this he needs a lobotomy.
  15. No chance. Better chance (minute!) of getting Cameron
  16. Brilliant!
  17. Him and Jobe. Absolute spuds. Darcy will NEVER say anything about controversial umpiring or negative against the AFL. He is the ultimate AFL robot. Must be getting massive coin. How some of these blokes sleep at night is incredible. Richo, the King and Lewis are about the only commentators that ever raise an eyebrow on controversial decisions and / or discuss aspects of the game that have been ruined by Vlad and others that have followed in his disastrous footsteps.
  18. Wow .....the easiest holding the ball decision against the filth i think i've ever witnessed on the back of the square there and the ump instead gives it to the Pies. [censored] CHEATERS! No wonder these [censored] are playing finals. [censored] off Gil and the AFL you [censored] dogs

  20. Big night on the turps Werridee? We are in for many more years in the wilderness / rated as an irrelevant club if you think Smith, Brown and Polec are going to be the difference that takes us to a flag. Smith is done & dusted. Polec is ok on the receive and that's about it. Brown, he will do ok if you have some lovely kicks coming inside 50 kicking it to the right height on a lead often enough. And i don't see that sort of skill/class coming inside 50 in the bulk of this group right now. You would need to import that as well! Shuffling the deck chairs i'm afraid.
  21. As if the year couldn't get any more topsy turvy....Trump has Corona apparantly
  22. According to the press Clint? The Hawks would be very pleased to offload him to us i reckon. Seriously in for a world of pain already in 2021 if we think we need a player well past his prime and about to check out. If this is fair dinkum and goes ahead we have officially turned in to the AFL's legit aged care retirement village and be lucky to win a flag this side of 2070.
  23. Was he even governing at the time SW? Apparently he has no recollection of anything at all, in particular the day to day running of the entire state. A bit harsh i reckon
  24. Yet another experiment gone sour. I liked the idea at the time and easy to say in hindsight but what a waste of time and resources this endeavour turned out to be.
